spacious and clean rooms-not much character but ideal location for shops/restaurants. great little cafe on the corner to the right of the hotel as you look out-also 7/11 for snacks etc.

Firstly ill start with check in... we arrived at the hotel and it was actually nicer than what we had expected. The front desk staff however can not make a decision on the spot and always need a manager to verify anything is ok to do, and if the manager is not around then too bad. Help with our bags was given and we were shown our room. Was so far impressed.

Got into our room and found urine on the toilet seat and the toilet had not been flushed... this was definately not a nice feeling. Cleaner came after we called them and cleaned it.

Went for a walk to Khao San Road and it is a nice distance away (about 5 minutes walking) not right in the middle of the noise but not too far.

Our room had electricity issues so our first night (before we changed room) our aircon turned off so sleep wasnt so great, otherwise we found the bed/room fairly comfortable. Also I should mention if you want the bathroom light to turn on, you basically have to have the bedroom lights on also, so in the middle of the night when your partner or kids need to goto the toilet, chances are all lights will be turned on so that they can see (some stupid 2 way switching with the electrical lighting only lets you turn on the bathroom light if the bedroom lights are on)

Next morning went to breakfast and I had to explain what a boiled egg is to the egg guy. Turned out in the end they dont do boiled eggs. Its a pretty basic breakfast with a little thai food, toast, eggs, chicken sausages and a little bit more. Definately nothing to purposly rush down for before it ends at 10am.

Had lunch at the Sara Resturant. Ordered Pad Thai and some other thai dish.. this is my absolute honosty.. DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTURANT. The food is over priced and VERY VERY BAD. Its appearance and taste litterally had me and my girlfriend take 1 bite and leave to get lunch elsewhere. I wish I took a photo of the pad thai.. particularly the "shrimps" (dried up tiny shrimps that looked like they were left out in the sun for 6 months.... head, guts and tail included) Told the staff lady who took payment how bad it was and we were totally ignored. Ignorance is a bliss.

The tour desk staff are great, in particular the guy (dont remember his name) but he really was good. Unfortunately he was the only staff member who provided us with exceptional service.

We were going to ask for late check out but then were told it was 1500 baht so didn't bother at such a stupid and unreasonable price.

If i wanted to stay in bangkok again and near khao san road I would stay again as I have not found anywhere else nicer, however I havnt looked very hard and id only be staying here as i couldnt be bothered looking around. Overall the hotel is nice but they are letting it down by stupid little things that should be and could be fixed. For the price its not really worth it in thailand, have stayed in equally as nice places with great food and excellent staff.

Room Tip: Its a decent place, DONT eat at the resturant!!!

Greetings from the Nouvo City Hotel!

First off, I would sincerely like to thank you for your honest and thorough review of our hotel and would like to apologize on behalf of the hotel's management for any unpleasant experiences that you may have come across during your stay.

The management team has taken all of your comments into account and will be doing our best to further improve our services based on your input.

Just one note, the light switches in the rooms may be either individually controlled via separate switches or all at once with one of the two master switches. It's not necessary to turn on all the lights just to use the bathroom. Guests are more than welcome to contact our staff at any time for assistance. However, we do apologize for any confusion.

Once again, thank you for your honest input.

After a stay in the Sukhumvit area we wanted to try the old city, and after reading reviews and looking at maps, chose Nouvo City Hotel. And the area was fantastic. We arrived at BKK late, grabbed a taxi to the hotel and got there about 10.30pm.

After an aircon issue that couldn't be solved, a room change, and another aircon issue, we left things in the desperately trying but clearly muddled hands of the hotel's 'engineer'. Thirsty and starving, we headed out to find beer and food – all the way to the 7-11 next door and the seafood restaurant (okay, stall with seating) right across the road, serving grilled garlic prawns and ice-cold Chang. Genius.

Local convenience and the hotel's proximity to Khao San Rd and the rest of the old city's sights almost made up for the desk clerk/manager giving us what felt like the bum's rush on our last day. Almost.

Overall, the room was okay (though we nicknamed the bed The Rock of Bangkok and requested housekeeping to bring an additional duvet to lie on so we didn't sustain any visible bruising), in spite of numerous attempts to sort it the aircon never did work worth a hoot, the included toiletries were... industrial, and the hotel breakfast was awful. But the location really was pretty good.

So would we stay there again? Mmmmaybe. But only if we couldn't find anything else.

our friends booked this online for us so we had only seen limited info. when we pulled into the road in our taxi we did wonder what we let ourselves in for as it was quite a narrow busy road but step through the doors and oh my an oasis of calm and tranquility. the reception was clean bright and cool and the staff amazingly friendly. we got into the room which again was clean and bright and quite large, unusually for a hotel room there were two comfy chairs if you didnt want to sit on the bed and the large shower was divine (and big enough for two ehm). the buffet for breakfast offered quite a selection in a spacious and clean restaurant.
the hotel itself if close to Khao San and we expected a noisier more basic hotel so we were really pleased with our little oasis which we felt offered excellent value for money. please note although we say its a quiet hotel its a quiet city hotel, bangkok doesnt sleep long and the restaurant opposite which we overlooked stayed open long past midnight, it didnt bother us in the slightest but if you are a very light sleeper you may want to take some ear plugs.

although i didnt use it a friend used the spa facilities and said that it was great.

the only downside of this hotel for us was that the mattress was seriously firm, not a problem for me but my partner found it too firm.

We stayed there for 2 nights and it should have been the great end after a wonderful trip through Thailand but unfortunately it was definitely not. The location is good but there are sooo many hotels in this area. The hotel is new, gym and pool quite lovely but they never heard about service and friendliness before and it is extremely expensive for what you get. The rooms are clean but the beds are small and very uncomfortable, you feel like lying on a big stone, it's loud as the walls are extremely thin so you can hear very clearly what your neighbor is talking about. Also the AC is quite noisy. The breakfast is less than average, e.g. no cheese therefore spaghetti carbonara - interesting for breakfast... Another example: we ordered a fresh orange juice in the restaurant and didn't get it. After 20 minutes we asked what the problem is and get the answer that they didn't have oranges... So our one and only advice is: don't stay there!

Spacious clean rooms, friendly staff, but they do not sell booze. At least there is a 7/11 just outside so you can buy beer.

Close to Khao San so you can get your backpacker fix. Great street food too. Breakfast was so so - the usual buffet, definitely not going to lose your L plates here. For that head to the street food stalls and pick up some unrecognisable item on a stick!

The beds are firm. Very. We named ours the Rock of Bangkok.

Nouvo City Hotel is a great place to be when you want a bit of luxury but want to stay near the action of the backpackers area and Khao San. Also it's within walking distance of the Grand Palace (disclaimer: we're heavy walkers so it's not THAT close). Don't let the area fool you, this hotel is new, comfortable, and clean. We were upgraded to a diplomat suite that was very big, had two TVs, free safe, large bathroom, and a king size bed.
What we liked best about Nouvo City Hotel is the quality of service, everyone went above and beyond their service. When we arrived at midnight to check in, they were friendly and helpful, and when we told the busboy 30 minutes we wanted to order McDonald's he gave us a menu, and when our mobiles didn't work he used his to call for us and order in Thai and brought the delivery guy to our room to make sure everything was okay! All this was way past midnight!
It's hard when your college age to get this kind of service quality from a nicer hotel.
If I ever go back to Bangkok I would definitely stay here again.
