This Hotel is located in a strategic location. Many of the foods sold in the surrounding, close to the mini market, close to where a massage when you feel tired and want to do massage. Not too far from the train station. Easy to reach traditional markets like Pratunam and also Siam area.

Room Tip: Higher floor better if you don't like noisy.

If what you need is the close distance to BTS, I dont think there is other hotel as convenient as Bangkok City Hotel. Only 5 mins walk to BTS. Although Siam BTS is just a station away, we decided to take a 20mins walk to MBK, Paragon etc. There were quite a number of food stalls along the walkway. Just grab an 18b coffee and a hotdog from the 7-11 and enjoy it while walking to MBK!

We arrived early, around 10.30am (Thai local time) and they allow us to check in immediately with no extra charges! When night falls, there will be many food stalls to your left hand side when exiting the hotel. We stayed at 1401, no complaints about the room. High floor view, aircond working fine, shower pressure is sufficient, clean room.

We personally think that the other minus points mentioned by other travellers were not main problem for us. Of course, if you are looking for a super comfy and high class hotel, you will not be looking at these reviews. Bangkok City Hotel is for travellers who wants a clean and comfy room to sleep in during the night and close to BTS.

Good size rooms, friendly staff and located close to the shops. It would have a more impressive entrance if you arrived into a foyer with comfy couches rather than stepping directly into the dining area. The rooms were very nice & comfortable. Views over the city are amazing. Bags can be stored securely after check-out time if you want to do some last minute sight seeing. The hotel is located around the corner from a SkyTrain station so getting about Bangkok is very easy. There is also a convenience store with ATM a couple of doors down the road and a place to get a traditional Thai massage. The tour desk is literally a table outside the elevators but the service is very professional and we went on several excellent tours (thanks Jackie!) If I return to Thailand I will definitely stay again at the Bangkok City Hotel.

I'm not the budget hotel type of person so I didn't really enjoyed it that much and thank God were just there for a night.

Got there after our flight from Phuket it was really hot that time because I think its summer. So i assumed that the hotel was centralized, I'm in dire need of air-conditioned place. When we got there we went straight to our rooms and believe me or not it was soooo HOT!!! The air con doesn't get cold like seriously! It was really my problem! Also the bathroom was moldy with black spots.

Lift/elevator was a problem it can only accomodate 5-6 persons

Location was a 10-15min walk to Siam malls but you have to walk to the bridge where there are a lot of cars passing by. Also a 10-15min walk to the train.

Food was messy but there are a lot to choose from. Crowded when its breakfast time. Food was ok.

But overall it was okay. The great thing about this is that its really cheap for a night. if you don't usually stay at your hotel that much this is perfect for you.

Room Tip: Pick higher rooms so you can check out the city

I was staying here last summer with my family for 5 days. I chose this hotel because it's one of the cheapest hotel in the area. It might be not the cheapest, but with such a facility, such as swimming pool, buffet breakfast, laundry, it was a treat! Good location, only 5 minutes of walk to Ratchathewi BTS station. The only downside was the front office staff as they are not friendly and not hospitable. I complained about noisy guests who talked so loudly in the corridor, I asked the staff to warn them. But the staff said to me why don't you warn by yourself. Not a good manner, front office lady. Anyway, it was a pleasant trip to Bangkok, and I'm looking forward for the stay here once more, if the staff had trained a hospitality lesson.

Room Tip: If you need an extra bed, maybe you need to try it first before ordering it. Because it feels like i...

Good hotel, friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, spacious room with good air-con and fridge. Good location - close to Ratchathewi station and Siam Square for major shopping malls. Loads of restaurants close by.

The negatives:
The lifts were very slow and often packed on the way down for breakfast / check-out; it ended up being quicker to walk to the stairs a couple of times.
Corridors are tiled which were noisy at times
Seating for breakfast gets very crowded, expect to share a table. Very basic "western" breakfast, but you make do.
