Went as we were staying around the corner at Saphaipae and was a lonely planet recommendation
Glad to say it is still authentic home cooked tasty food (some previous LP recommendations have often "sold out" a little).
Place is very basic, last orders at 9pm there was just one thing left on the menu but we didn't mind.
330baht each including a drink (does not sell alcohol) worth a trip if your nearby

Best place to visit in Bangkok (near Silom Temple) when you have craving for south Indian quality food. It is run like a home shop (Uncle-Auntie shop) where fresh food is served of best in class quality. During our stay in Bangkok for more than 1.5 yrs, we visited almost every week.. feels like home!

Some more idea about the place - capacity of 20 people - give little time for food preparation and you will not regret the decision! Don't hurry but "order all at once" unless you have lot of time to wait.. ;) Don't expect 5 star welcome, just enter, sit, order, wait..... eat (while enjoying food), pay and leave to come back...

Highly recommended from our side for south Indian Thali, Masala Dosa and Idlis, Barota Kurma (my fav) and Pongal!! Do check for specials of the day :)

Whenever I go to the temple I go to this restaurant because it reminds of my long stay in Chennai. The food is very good, but beware if you come too early or too late, then most items will not be available. Anyway their typical meals (vegetarian thali with rice, daals, curd, sambar, rasam, dessert...) are always ready and available, very good and very cheap! You will leave with a full happy stomach. Don't expect anything about decorations and ambiance, this is a typical family restaurant where you go for the food not for the fun!
Best Tamil restaurant for me is Sri Ganesh on sukhumvit though!

Authentic South Indian homemade food. The owners seem to be running this restaurant more as a service to the community - and it shows not only in the quality of the food but also in the wall hangings and impeccable neatness of this small restaurant.

Menu choice is pretty good in that they offer both Thali meals and lighter snack items like dosas, uthappam, etc. So there is something for everyone in your family.

Owners are from academia, therefore more reserved than some typical boisterous marketing/entertainment types. But they are helpful - I did notice them helping some folks who were not quite familiar with the menu offerings.

If you are in Bangkok and like South Indian food, don't miss going to this restaurant.
