“My favourite hostel in BKK”
Reviewed 4 July 2013 via mobile

I have spent almost a month in Bangkok staying in hostels over the past few years. WE Bangkok is definitely my favourite of all of the places I stayed. I stayed on my first ever trip to the city and twice since.
Its a great little hostel if travelling alone in particular, I have always stashed in the dorms and have always met heaps of people. I have enjoyed many epic nights out with the many backpackers I have met in the hostel.

They sell beer, breakfast and snacks. 7/11is just opposite and the sky train in a couple of minutes walk. This is really convenient for getting around bkk. I would always stay away from ko San road, the accommodation is a lot poorer and there is rubbish travel links. If you want a night out there a taxi from WE is so cheap on the Meter that its pointless staying on the road itself.

The hostel facilities are good. Bar, good showers, air conditioned spacious dorms, valuables lockers, a power socket and residing light in every bunk.

The staff are really friendly, easy to meet people, good location and brilliant street food all around. I highly recommend this hostel for solo backpackers

One tip - book in advance! This place is so popular that booking is essential. I'm a turn up and see what I get kinda traveller but this doesn't work here as its so popular. Its the only reason I have stayed in so many other hostels in BKK. Also if you want to stay longer let them know asap

We booked the double room (private) and the price indicated was US$ 21. However, when we checked out, the price had doubled. It seems that the website indicates the price of the private double room per person, which is very unusual (and random?). Even though we had clearly indicated that we wanted a room for two, the displayed price was still US$ 21.

As for the facilities per se, they are pretty clean and recent-ish. The TV, on the other hand, had no Englihs-speaking channels, even though they advertise the room as "with cable TV". The hostel somehow lacked ambiance and atmosphere: it was soulless. The lighting is weird and the music, pretty inconsistent.

The neighbourhood is great, though.

If you decide to stay at this hostel, be very careful when booking your room!

We absolutely loved WE, and are already planning to stay on another upcoming trip to Bangkok. The rooms are big, clean and the A/C is kicking - a necessity in such a hot city! The place has a great vibe - travelers from all over the world hanging out and enjoying Bangkok. Lots of chill socializing out front in the evening, and people around all day long. There are always movies running in the lobby, there's tons of street food 5 minutes in every direction, 7-11 is right across the street (essential for your daily toastie fix), 5 minute walk from the subway, 10 minute walk from Patpong, but still nice and quiet off of a little back road. Only downside was the service from the employees, which wasn't bad, but not as friendly as I'm used to at hostels around SE Asia.

This is the hostel to be in Bangkok. Been in the city 3 times and always stayed there. You meet great people and you hang out with them at all times. I have made so many friends in this hostel and we still keep in touch. It really is a special place for me! I am looking forward to returning to We Bangkok.

This might be a great place for value in the dorms, but my partner and I stayed in a double. The rooms are cell like and while you get a tv, all the channels are thai, so not much of a perk for us.
The location was decent...short walk to the BTS, which was nice.
We stayed in Bangkok previously in the Samsen Road area and it had better access to cheap eats and night life and for about $15 less per night.
For $42 you only got one towel for two people. Bathroom was clean but stunk like a sewer. And the walls were paper thin making the street noise really loud.
The staff were friendly but not great. They sent us down toward the river claiming lots of Thai places to eat...everything was overpriced Western pizza places. There are signs all over the place indicating happy hour and pumping their rooftop bar. We went up one night and no one was there and when we went back down to order a couple drinks for happy hour they said there wasn`t one and the signs were old. Makes you wonder what other info in all the signs all over is out of date as well.
The free computers for internet access was a great perk.
Probably wouldn`t stay again.

Room Tip: If you`re looking to save money stick to the dorms.

WE Bangkok was the best experience- the hang out spaces were cool and really nice to be in. It's super close to the train which is essential and a quick walk to the river too. The neighborhood is quiet, not super close to any great bars but there's great Indian food in the neighborhood. Overall, really great! The bathrooms are also really clean and nice, as are the rooms. Mostly though the people here are wonderful!
