This small hotel (7 rooms only) has a perfect location if you want to explore Grand Palace,
Wat Arun and Wat Pho, and if you want to go "downtown" you take the small ferries from
pier 8. We had a very nice room with a small balcony facing the river and a great view to Wat Arun and looking on the amazing traffic on river Chao Praya. The room had a spacious and
clean bathroom. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere and kind staff. Very good breakfast.
The restaurant is superb.
We are an elderly couple, only thing missing is a lift.

Room Tip: de luxe rooms are on the river side with view not big difference in price

I only had 36 hours in Bangkok and wanted to concentrate on seeing the Grand Palace and surrounding temples. Sala Arun is in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk away. My room with the Wat Pho view was spacious and clean. Bathroom was well-stocked and had a large walk-in shower (hot running water in my room was at most tepid, but this was not an issue for me). Wi-fi throughout. Staff is friendly and considerate and helpful. I requested an airport pickup as my arrival time was very late, and that was also very efficient. Other reviewers say to splurge for a room on the river side, but the waterside deck was totally accessible, and it was a pleasant place to enjoy the free breakfast (the night-time view of the Wat Arun temple IS stunning!). Hotel is also convenient to the river ferries, which made for a cheap and convenient way to venture into downtown, and also to hop across the river to Wat Arun.

Room Tip: If a view is important, book on the river side. Room quality is excellent, considering the price.

This review is on the rooftop bar of this hotel and not the hotel properly.
The Bitter Deck bar on the rooftop is open to any customer. It is a nice & cosy place above the river. Since it is located right in front of the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun), it offers one of the best views ever. I would recommend to go a little before sunset and stay there till night comes to have three majestic views of the scene. Absolutely wonderful!
Prices are not outrageous. In fact they are quite reasonable. A local beer will cost you a mere 150B.

If you are going to explore the Bangkok Chinatown area, as well as the Wat Po, Royal Palace, and Museum area, then it's hard to find a better location than this. Combined with the view and the excellent service by staff, it's a wonderful place to stay.

I recommend learning to use the water ferry and have a good map if you're walking.

Food choices become very limited after nightfall, in this neighborhood. If you schedule your day around this, it shouldn't be an issue.

Room Tip: There is a tree which obscures the view from some of the rooms. If you are going to be bothered by t...

You have to be a little adventurous when staying at this hotel. If you are used to a western hotel, this might not be for you. The hotel is located in a warehouse alley, so if you are looking for a grand entrance, you won't get it. Also, get a room that faces the river, or you will have a lot of noise from the alley. All of the other reviews of the hotels proximity to the water taxi, view of Wat Arun, and local attractions (Wat Pho and Grand Palace, etc.) are true. The staff is so friendly too, that they will help you with anything!

Great location, near Grand Palace and Wat Pho. View from the room was beautiful, facing Wat Arun. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not very good due to limited choice, but then good western style breakfast is something hard to find in Thailand. Overall, this was a great stay. Do have a drink at the hotel's rooftop bar in the evening. The view is incredible.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the river. The view is amazing!

Boutique hotel, friendly atmosphere, competent service above all a great location to visit the main monuments of Bangkok. The rooftop bar has a unique view where you can see perhaps one of the best sunset in Bangkok. We stayed in a room with balcony facing the river with the same fantastic view. Experience to repeat!
The restaurant on the river very friendly, but with little option for those who prefer Thai food.
Attention for those who want to check out early morning.

Room Tip: Room with a balcony facing rhe river
