It was more expensive than a hostel we stayed in, but the rooms were nice, free water and a mini-fridge were included and the showers were decent. If you can shell out a few more dollars than you would for a cheap hostel, it's not a bad choice, though I wonder if you couldn't get more value for your dollar by staying somewhere else, outside of Khaosan Road. Still, everything you need is right around the corner and having a swimming pool on the roof is a nice addition.

After staying in a hotel much further away from the action and double the price, we found this place fantastic value for money. The room was clean and comfortable yet basic. This is by no means a 5 star resort, but it has everything you need (plus a swimming pool) and is right in the middle of bustling Khaosan Road. Khaosan Palace is obviously not a place for families or people who are sensitive to a bit of street and bar/club noise, but if you fit into that category, quite frankly staying on Khaosan Road is probably not going to be pleasant for you no matter where you stay. If you are looking for somewhere decent and fun for a reasonable price with helpful staff this place is great!

we were at the front of the back section and it was very noisy and I for one had little sleep!
staff were helpful although very turse!
breakfast was all microwaved and no soy even thought it was advertised!
rooms very basic but clean.
khaosan rd out the front was very very busy and the street food was delicious.
careful with the resaurants as some of the food was terrible.
go to the street horizontal to khaosan rd and find the little cafe that DAVE does magic as the food was bloody delicious and cheap!
if you want coffee/tea making facility in your room OR a hair dryer this is NOT for you!

Room Tip: Don't choose the front room at the back as very noisy, ask to see the rooms first

I chose this hotel because one of my friend has been there and she said it's very quiet, well it was true, i think this is the best place for those jetlag ppl that want somewhere relaxing and quiet, it didn't have breakfast but it had a pool which i didn't use,it's exactly in the heart of khaosan, but the rooms don't have a view over khaosan, the room and the bed are big enough and everything is clean. the price though is a little higher comparing to others in khaosan road., I recommend this hotel to those who are not a very restricted budget.

I was traveling in family, we needed an extra bed because all the triple rooms were full... the extra bed was terrible and I ended sleeping on the floor to avoid back problems.
The room was noisy and the staff at the reception was unpleasant and aggressive.
After more than one year traveling, the worst hotel I have been to.

I know that it is inappropriate to like staying on Khaosan Road, but I have always liked it as a starting point to other places. It reminds me of the "Interzone" in Naked Lunch by William Burroughs.

The Khaosan Palace is clean and cheap. The staff is not particularly friendly, but it is efficient, and that's all I need. I have used every category of room -- small fan room to full aircon suite -- and I must say that small fan room suits me the best. The aircon rooms freeze me, but of course if you turn the aircon off, you start sweating immediately. The strong fans in the fan rooms are much better.

I have never had the opportunity to be on the road long enough in SEA to need to do major laundry, but I have also always been very impressed by the coin-op washing machines at the hotel -- it is a fantastic service for people on long trips.

As for the location -- if you like Khaosan Road, it is absolutely perfect!

Room Tip: If you don't like hearing music as you try to sleep, take an aircon room if you go to bed before...
