Reviewed 18 April 2012

my friend and i just arrived in thailand for a 3 week journey. upon arriving at the Rongratana (take a picture of a map or something, the airport taxi drivers really have no idea where is it) we were greeted by friendly staff.
we booked this place on the net, during a half price sale on booking.com... great value. we each got a deluxe room each, at 2000 baht a night. my friend got a free upgrade to a one bedroom deluxe. we stayed here on the 16/17th april, good time to do it, didnt see another person here so everything felt like it was just for us.
every one is very friendly, and sign language and basic english will get you through.
the one down side i had of the place is it took them 10 minutes to get me an emergency roll of toilet paper, for which they profusley aplogised for the wait. that is the only down side i have.
the included breakfast could of been a bit bigger, but that is easily sorted by the many street vendors within stones throw (eg. sticky rice, breakfast chicken and a nice local fresh juice for 50 baht).
the gym equipment is good, as is the upstairs garden, great for an afternoon beer in the sun.
the pool could use an update, and beyond small bits of tissue, it was quite a nice view down to the local streets.
so many 7/11's in walking distance water and food and cheap beer is never a problem.
within 20 minutes walk, or 3 minutes (20 baht) tuk tuk ride, are the many, massively massive shopping centres. (take redbull, a sense of adventure and a lot of endurance).
all in all the rongratana is a great place to stay. just remember to try the place called the ninth over the other side of the road for a simply AMAZING feed. mmmmmmmmm

Room Tip: try your best to smile and get an upgrade. wait to do it in person as rates a heaps cheaper onsite.

The rooms were very nicely furnished. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. I booked with Booking.com so I had a good rate or 2 bedroom apartment adjacent with a studio room. There were 6 of us. All the beds were kings. It was bothersome to have to have a card key all the time to use the elevators but I guess it's good for security. The CCTV channel shows the lobby in the tv so we can see the people coming in the hotel. WiFi was great and internet connection is fast and free. It was a loong walk to the sky train. The swimming pool was tiny. Gym facilities are okay.

The Rongratana executive residence is very centrally located-- a 10 minute walk to the sky train, a few minutes more are the big malls. Lovely, quite area surrounded by similar establishments and lots of nice restaurants and cafes. Our 2-bedroom suite was simply lovely, furnished in white, wood and silver. The bathrooms were clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. Breakfast was served en suite, although basic (eggs, choice of sausage or bacon) and coffee was tepid. They did not bring extra coffee in a pot so we had to make do with the instant coffee that was provided. Around the corner was a nice gourmet store stocked with an extensive wine selection. All in all, value for your money. I would definitely stay there again.

Truly lovely little property. Right next door to the Mariott Executive Apartments on the Lumpini Park side. Booking.com and Agoda seem to have different map sites for its location!!
I got a good discount from an online hotel site and then the hotel upgraded us from a single bedroom to a double bedroom. All the fittings and appliances worked fine. I was very pleased with the high standard. Everything worked and was in excellent condition. Kitchen had a rice cooker and a coffee maker. No drinks or snacks in the full sized refrigerator but 711 is only 5mins walk away.
Skytrain is near. MBK is close, (MBK sells everything) catch the skytrain from Chitlom to Siam/Central and swap sides (platform) and go to National Stadium, there is an overpass right into the MBK centre.. its about 15-25 baht from memory o/w.
Or there is the Emporium shopping centre (more up market) catch the skytrain the other direction to Phrom Phong and exit towards the back entrance from where you came from (Chitlom) on ur right side again directly from the station into the shopping centre. 25baht/p o/w.

Overall its a great place and hope you enjoy ur stay too.

Enjoy ur stay.

ROOMS: large and look exactly as shown in photos; couch showed a bit age with some stains, but still clean. Bed mattress, medium softness for Asian hotel, I got good sleep on it. Kitchen was fully equipped with all electronics and pantry+utensils... you can really cook here. Good natural light, as I had ceiling to floor windows on 2 sides (01 room). American or Thai breakfast was selected the night before and delivered to your room promptly to get your day started. Good WiFi signal, even at the pool area.
STAFF: receptionists were attentive and English fluent. You can show them your destination, and they advice you how to get there, by metered taxi or Skytrain (during peak traffic hours) Cleaning staff were not English fluent, but they always find people to translate.
FACILITIES: complimentary use of washing and drying machine on 2 different floors, next to the lift. They provide detergents to you in the in-room toiletries. A 8-10 meters clean pool and a garden on their room.
LOCATION: in prime downtown Langsuan residential area, relaxed walk of 5 min to Ratchadamri BTS skytrain station (Silom line). From hotel, you walk past Villa market (supermarket with good selection of imported goods and wines), continue on soi Mahatlek Luang 3 (only one soi, so you can't get lost) , pass the Anantara Hotel, and at the corner of this soi with Ratchadamri road, next to the BTS, there is a honest fruit vendor (starts around 3pm). He sells 10 baht for half pineapple, papaya, watermelon slice... I got all my fruits there everyday. There is also a supposedly good French restaurant, "Le Notre" across the street. I tried their desserts, very rich flavored but a bit too sweet.
Relaxed walk to Chitlom BTS will take you over 10 min, but a lot of cafes and restaurants along the road.
RECOMMENDED TO: after half a week stay, I would definitely say it's NOT 5 star hotel (slight short on staff), but what it lacks, it makes up in price, room space, location, and convenience to those who want to cook.

Room Tip: The reception will show you the room personally, so tell him/her what your want

We stayed in the two-bedroom unit for 5 days during the Chinese New Year period and were pleasantly surprised by the spacious and luxurious unit given to us. The WIFI signal was strong. We have no problem simultaneously connecting our air book, 2 iPhones and an iPad in the room, at the breakfast area and reception lobby. Lumpini Park is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Starbuck is about 2 mins walk and the Chidlom Central Department Store at Ploenchit Road is about 5 mins walk, where we found a good variety of Thai and international cuisines at the 7th floor FoodLoft.

Service at the hotel was good and Paul at the reception was very helpful. No problem with our late check-out request.

So this place has it all, location, air con, pool, roof top garden and unlimited free wifi!

We got this on a deal through booking .com and wanted somewhere nice before Thailand for a 40 day camping expedition through Africa and we were not disappointed.

We arrived early and although we couldn't check in they kept our bags for us until we could and even upgraded us to a 1 bedroom apartment. Breakfast was included in the price and although you could chose from a good selection of things it was always served cold in the room as they had a fair way to walk from the kitchen, and they didn't cover the food to preserve the heat. THIS IS THE ONLY NEGATIVE I HAVE!

There is a choice of 2 skytrain stations on different lines 5 minutes walk away and if you want shopping malls they are right on your doorstep about a 10 minute walk away.

One night we had a private dinner on the rooftop garden set out with candles and light music and another night we had the pool all to our selves, both were easily organised with friendly reception staff.

The apartments are catered towards the business crowd as supposed to tourists but it did not put us off at all! We would definitely recommend this place and will seriously consider it again when we return to BKK.
