The Playhouse Theater packs a punch in an hour. Featuring an all male cast playing both male and female roles, the ensemble weaves from one song to the next, creatively using prop, set and costume changes to draw the audience in. There's some singing and there's a lot of dancing all done with humor and a touch of that over the top, paddle turn loving drama you would hope for from this type of performance. Set in an intimate black box theater style venue, you can enjoy a drink as you watch the fun. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. The line up of songs gave the show good pace and flow. If you need a little glitz and glamour in your life and enjoy hamming it up cabaret style, put the Playhouse Theater on your Bangkok to do list.

I went to see the Playhouse Theater in July of 2014 and had a blast. For context, I had seen similar shows in the States, so knew what I was getting into, but thought it would be fun to see one in Thailand. I was not disappointed! A variety of dance styles, quick costume changes, inventive sets, an appropriate mix of songs given the geographic location of Thailand were all big positives. It's really impressive to see this level of openness and acceptance of a variety of cultures being promoted across the globe; encouraging for sure.

If you're looking for something to do that's off the beaten path, the Playhouse Theater comes highly recommended.

One of Thailand specialties, The Ladyboy Show. The theatre is in Asia Hotel, which is just next to Ratchathewi BTS station. Ticket price is 1200 Baht. If you never watch any ladyboy show before and you have no plan to watch a bigger one in Pattaya, you may try your first experience here. Basically, you will rarely disappoint, but the show is not as grand as the one in Pattaya.

Well. In my personal opinion that it is not expensive. it location with just across the road from my hotel and it is really entertaining; But....Asia hotel itself is not that great in terms of entrance, presentation and so on. It was me and another couple of tables only booked which was great it was like a private show in a way. One of my favorite performance was Michael Jackson number and Mr Bojangles . The downside was after the show when you go and have a photo with the entertainer. they start and keep asking you for money "Something for me, something for me!" I did not mind paying the money but for a starter it makes them look cheap. secondly, how much is the right amount of money. I ended up giving them an equivalent to the ticket money. Once again I would preferred to pay double the price for the ticket and avoid that awkward situation. I have been to Calypso and that did not happen. That been said, I really enjoyed the show or maybe I was just in a good mood, which is very frequent in BKK.)

While it is on the more expensive side of things to do in bangkok, it was very entertaining. Tickets were 1200 bhat at the door but may be cheaper online?

The show itself was about an hour long and there was a free drink included with your ticket. The show itself consisted of performers (lady boys) lip syncing to popular songs ( mostly English and a few Chinese songs). The props, costumes and backdrop changes was pretty impressive.

After the show you walk through a hallway with all the performers. If you want pictures with them, expect to cough up 40 bhat per person per performer.
