The pros: cheap, nice rooms with a balcony (superior room).

The cons:

1 during our first night we had to change rooms due to incredibly loud neighbors. Hotel barely acted, only assigning us to a different room after we asked them four times. Did nothing to the noisy guests, though.

2 At 1.30 someone suddenly came in our room while we were sleeping. It appeared to be a tired tuktuk driver, regardless of our 'do not disturb' sign. Pretty disturbing.

3 Furthermore the wifi barely worked, router time outs every 5 minutes.

4 On our last day there was no water in the entire hotel, so that we couldn't shower or go to the toilet for almost 3 hours.

5 Apart from this all the room is quite far away from the action. The mrt is not that close.

6 Apparently, if you leave your room after 11 am they don't clean it. We had to ask for towels two days in a row, even though our sign was hanging on the door.

7 walls are paper thin. You hear the elevator and other rooms all the time.

8 beds are, like mentioned by other people, rock hard. My back hurt days after I left Bangkok.

9 Finally, the staff is not really helpful or friendly. After asking about the price for a taxi to the airport they quoted a much higher price than it should be. Therefore not helpful at all.

Overall: pick a different hotel, you can find a better place for this price.

The hotel is situated in a Thai neighbourhood and is at a walking distance from Sutthisan MRT station. So, not so close to touristy spots or pubs but, everything can be reached quickly by MRT. 7Eleven and street food is available at walking distance. Even a small neighbourhood market selling pretty cheap stuff is on way to MRT though not open all the time.

Rooms were very neat, clean and spacious. The hotel restaurant had little options, but food was nice.

The only thing we didn't like about the hotel was that the staff was not very friendly. Our family was supposed to reach at 6 in morning and try early check-in. They didn't get any room and had to search nearby. This was partly our fault as well as we didnot communicate to hotel about our early arrival. But the staff gave us no such info when we reached at 10am.Instead, they said they cannot contact night staff as they are sleeping. We had just arrived in Bangkok and had noway to contact our family. Luckily, they arrived in hotel within few minutes. One lady who usually arrives in evening was nice and also could speak better English.
We also had a feeling that they didn't arrange cheaper taxis.

Overall our stay turned out to be very nice and everybody loved it. Hotel was helpful in keeping extra luggage for 5days of our further travel.

I have to find a better value and staff under1000 baht in Bangkok. They provide a golf cart to and from the MRT Sutthisan station (0.4 Km). or walk and shop to and from. The hotel has 132 Rooms built in 2011. Good staff, clean rooms, separate shower, can go anywhere by MRT connect to BTS south or north loops and go faster than Taxi in heavy traffic and can get almost anywhere, from Shopping Malls to Restaurants. The hotel restaurant opens at 10:30 AM, only drawback besides hard beds, but most 3* hotels do not have 4* & 5* comfortable beds.

Room Tip: Be sure to phone give your phone connected to hotel or # to Taxi driver to aid in finding hotel. Wor...

This hotel was fantastic value for money. The room and bathroom were huge with a great layout and everything was clean. Had a fridge, kettle, good air con and the wifi was the fastest we have had while travelling (they had an access point on every floor). The MRT station was an easy 5 minute walk away or you can catch the free buggy. The MRT made it so easy and cheap to explore Bangkok (get a 3 day pass if you are going to be using it a lot) There are also local markets just down the road with a great variety of food and a 7/11 for any essentials. They do have a small restaurant down stairs but we didn't use this. The only bad thing we can say is the bed was really really hard. We had read this in other reviews so were expecting it but it was even harder than we were expecting! Don't let this put you off though as this hotel would be hard to beat for price and quality.

I stayed at SPB Paradise for 6 nights in May 2013, and I can say I may have overstayed my welcome :)) The place is quite far from the centre of everything in Bangkok, but the metro truly is about 5 minutes away by foot and it works very well. The hotel is in a truly Thai neighborhood, most likely you won't see any foreigners until you step out of the metro in the centre :)) This can be a plus or a minus, take it as you will. I really liked the market area that is very close, there is great food and even some clothing stands. Food-wise you are in a very nice area, the market is open till pretty late, otherwise there are street food vendors at every hour and a few 7 elevens on one street. There are a few dogs on the streets and the streets are quite quiet so if you spook easily, try not to walk alone at night.

The hotel itself offers a sort of shuttle service, a little cart that can take you/pick you up from the metro station or the 7 eleven. You can call them to pick you up from there, but in my experience that doesn't work, as nobody picked up the phone when I called. Luckily, the boys are up and around those areas all the time, so it's very likely you'll just see them and hop on.

The staff are not the most helpful I've ever met, but that could be just because there's a major communication gap, seeing that they speak very little English. The restaurant staff has 2 members, only the lady speaks very little English. But the menu is also in English, so with some pointing and sign language you'll be fine :)

The room I stayed in was on the 7th floor (apparently the longer you stay, the higher your room) and it was quite alright. The mattress was very hard but really comfortable, the sheets were clean and the air conditioning worked very well. Only thing is, it is right above the bed, so you might have to play with it until you figure out what's best so you don't sleep in the draft. The TV has English channels and you have very good wifi in the room.

The one big minus I give to this hotel is the bathroom cleanliness, it could really do with a little more attention. The shower was a bit dirty, as was the tap of the sink. Nothing you couldn't fix with some TLC, so I'm just putting it on the staff.. The room isn't cleaned unless you put the sign on the door knob, so don't be surprised if nobody does it by default.

There is a laundry..room outside the hotel, but I wasn't terribly happy with the job they did, but maybe I'm overly pretentious.

All in all, I rate this hotel as average towards good, mostly because of the location, the staff and the bathroom. If you want to wander off every day and be in the centre, I advise you to get something IN the centre. And learn from my mistake: if this is your first time in Asia, don't expect anything and don't compare it to anything. Go with an open mind, accept the new levels of cleanliness/hygiene and customer service and you will be able to enjoy it to the fullest :)

The location is good, near the metro, some 7 Elevens and a market, also few tourists. The room was quite nice, but the bed has a plastic mattress which was quite uncomfortable. The bathroom was not nice, the drain didn't work properly and the floor was always wet from dripping water from the ceiling. One of the two days they didn't make the room and didn't give us new towels or a new mat for the bathroom floor which was a problem because of the wet floor. Also there were mould stains in the bathtub and the sink. The air con is hanging directly over the bed which makes you sleep in the cold stream. So: Genrally a good room for this price, but some annoying details.

It is actually gongyu – Chinese style dormitory. Rooms are also decorated Chinese style. You cannot find better place in Bangkok for 600 bath per night. It is within short walk to subway station and close to many 7eleven stores. There is washing machines and gym on the ground floor. Rooms are really specious and clean. You got flat screen TV in the room. Bath rooms are also clean and spacious. Every floor has fast wifi. Not to forget balcony! When checking out you will need to wait sometime, because they will check your room that you don’t steal anything.

Room Tip: the higher the better
