Yes it's not cheap and yes why would you travel to Thailand and eat German food? Cause you can. Honestly, no need to spend your money if you visiting Bangkok for a short time and you are not German. The food however is surprisingly authentic and staff is well trained by the operator is suppose is German. Also you get access to quality beer which is a nice change from the usual commercial beer crap foreign country's offer. Have a bitburger beer and try some wiener sausages, you won't regret it.

It had been quite some time since my last visit to the Old German Beerhouse, but this most recent time just a few days ago was quite a bit different from my recollections of those previous times.

Firstly, the service from our waitress was some of the most apathetic I have seen. She arrived at the table with a frown and maintained it throughout our time there. The seafood salad was small and so-so. The Schweinehaxe was considerably salty with lackluster taste, a shadow of its former self as we recalled it. The order of Jaegerschnitzel Hunter Style arrived without the accompanying the sauce. Upon pointing-out the omission, we were brought the sauce --- the incorrect sauce for this dish, however.

Both my friend and I left a little more than half of our order on the plate, the flavor lacking to that extent. As we left, we noticed we were not alone in leaving a sizable portion on the plate. The weissbier was excellent however!

The place has a number of large screen TVs for all sorts of sports-watching. That and the beer will keep the place in business --- a good point for them, since relying on the quality of the food and the efficiency of the service certainly wouldn’t portend well. We are unlikely to return.

Always pop in for a Beer, the food is good such that with all the restaurants in the area we eat here often, the drinks are a little over priced. Always ask for Khun Mana he sorts everything out, but if you have been in Asia for a long trip, the best place to eat Potatoes, sometimes you need to leave the rice alone.

I have to say, the food here is as close to Germany as I had it in Thailand, which is a compliment, as usually so called "German Food" in Thailand is a laughable mix of German ideas and Thai execution... Not here...

I come to Sukhumvit Soi 11 on a regular basis and if craving for some German food I need to stop here. Nothing has changed over the years. The interior in the two (out & indoor) dining areas is still the same. They draw in tourists and Bkk retirees as well as some expats. German soccer is a magnet as they will show all matches. The food is somewhat ok. A bit blund at times. Schnitzel is good. Weisswurst is not. Beers from the tap are good too. Prices have gone a bit high. Location is in walking distance from BTS Nana. Anyway if you need some German fare and wanna start a night out in Soi 11 this place will just do it.
