Dinner Cruise by Grand Pearl in Bangkok
Reviewed 11 July 2014

We went on this cruise last night and had a ball. We sat outside, with candlelight on our table. Beautiful night. Great to see Bangkok lights from the river. Staff were friendly and helpful. Meal was nice with several varities. Very relaxing

We had a group of eight booked for this dinner cruise from the moment we boarded to a serenade from a Thai Elvis to the moment we left our experience was less than satisfactory. Having been allocated a table in the lower deck it was not so pleasureable to see the sights as we cruised by. If you are planning on doing this cruise make sure you hit the buffet early, we didn't and by the time we got there some of the dishes were gone, we spoke to the staff but were told there was no refilling the buffet - so if you missed out then you missed out. The food was what you would expect from a large commercial operation - average. When the cruise reached its halfway point and turned around the staff automatically moved into clean up action. The moment you put your fork and knife down your plate was taken away irrespective if you had finished or not. And don't get up top go to the toilet otherwise your drink and food will be removed. My glass of wine which was half full was removed whilst I took my daughter to the bathroom, and her plate which she hadn't completed was also gone. We were disappointed with the whole evening but had to laugh it was so bad.

I went with a large group of colleagues. It was a great opportunity to sit and chat while seeing the sites on the river. The cruise was well organized and the boat was very nice and looked extra elegant when it first arrives with the crew all on deck saluting. The food was great. The Thai "Elvis" and his band were entertaining and we spent the second half of the cruise on the top deck dancing and singing along. The views while cruising the river were also very beautiful.

We booked the Grand Pearl dinner cruise along the Chaopraya River. We loved this outing and it is such a great option to see many Bangkok attractions in one go if you don't have much time in Bangkok or if you don't want to have to worry about travelling to all the different attractions and fighting the Bangkok traffic. We were collected from our hotel and transferred to the River club. On arrival they took a photo (which you can purchase later) then we were showed to a table on the deck which overlooked the river. We had drinks here while watching all the boats passing and the sun set, it was spectacular. We then boarded the Grand Pearl while being entertained bu their live bank. The Grand Pearl had 3 decks, we were lucky to be seated at an outside table which allowed us to have a better view of the attractions and all the other boats passing on the river. It was wonderful to dine out under the stars, we wer on the middle deck but if you can, try to book the upper deck for better views. The food and service was good and the live band was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed their entertainment and ended up on the upper deck dancing for the last 30 minutes of our cruise. We would definitly reccommend this excursion as it's such good value for money and was a great night out. The excursion cost us 2000BHT each which included our transfers (there & back), the cruise which is about 2 hours, buffet dinner & great entertainment. The only thing that we had to pay for were our drinks at the River Club deck and on the cruise. One of the highlights of our visit to Bangkok !
