“Fantastic hotel in the most happening part of Bangkok”
Reviewed 5 June 2012

This new property is like an ultra modern boutique hotel from New York rather than a Holiday Inn. Ultra-mod cool blue interiors, express lifts, post-modern architecture, fabulously appointed rooms and a unique two way bath door, all make up a super experience. The property affords fabulous views of Bangkok (we were in floor 16) . Ultra fast wifi throughout the premises makes the stay great fun (they also have free iMac work-stations in the lobby) . The complimentary breakfast is adequate .As for location, Siam Paragon/Discovery/Center is just 50 meters down the block to the left, MBK is opposite the hotel across a convenient skywalk as is the metro station. The entire SIam area is a convenient seven minute walk. 50 meters to the right is a great TESCO Lotus superstore. The staff speak good English and really helpful. Whether you are a new comer or a seasoned Bangkok traveler, for business or pleasure, this hotel is just perfect.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors with a view of the Bangkok skyline

I had Stayed with my boyfriend in this hotel between 31 May to 3 June , that was my birthday trip , my boyfriend told me when he book the hotel , he sent a email to hotel told them that was my birthday trip hope can have some special decoration . And they reply because they a the express style they don't have any special decoration but they can prepare a nice room for us .

Finally we got a NICE room . The toilet is leaking , When we check in 31/5 we got 7pcs towel but when we check out we got 10pcs towel. WHY? It was because the sweeper have not take back the towel which is already using . 3 days only 2 toilet paper , even the sweeper saw it almost empty who have not recover it , i need to call the front desk to take the new one.

When i check in i was showed the hotel voucher to them . But when we check out they say they haven't got the voucher please show to them. HOW COME we don't have voucher you still can give us the room ? That was my first time listen ..... they say maybe forgot to receive . hey~ " Next time if you forget to receive , you have to told us otherwise we may thrown " because we already show when we check in !

On the 3rd day , the safely box no battery. I can not imagine.
THE is a express style hotel but not a guest house , i really really can't accept it.

The hotel location is very well and the staff is very nice , always smile but the rooms cleaning and the service must be improve , however i will not come again.

Dear Mowminnie,

Thankyou for your recent review of the New Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Siam. We definately take all your points seriously and gives us a great chance to improve our services in the future. We have held a meeting with our housekeeping team to address your concerns listed.
We have also had meeting with the front office team and engineering to prevent further problems with future guests regarding the checkin voucher system.

This feedback will go along way to improving our staff and hotel for guests.

Thanks,

Holiday Inn Express Siam: A great place to be at if you are an express traveller.
Stayed there for 1 night on my way back.Lovely ambience and the rooms were really nice and spacey. The corridoor looked fab with the blue lights.Loved the room too.
The only flaws is that no amenities at all in the room.No bath robes or anything.
All in all I loved the hotel and its location

We stayed here 4 3 nights, the room is comfy, the breakfast although limited selection is good n it is very convenient to go anywhere. It is a short walk to MBK n Paragon n next to Skytrain. Overall very good value for money. Would definitely stay here again if I come to Bangkok.

Stayed with my friend in this hotel between May, 22 & May, 25, 2012. May be my review cannot be considered as 100% fair, because I represent a sister property hotel in the Middle East, but I'll try to judge objectively.
The location of the hotel is it's biggest advantage, so close to MRT (subway) & Skytrain & to shopping malls as well, plus - The Jim Thompson's House is just 15 minutes walk!
I cannot say too much about the service, cuz we barely contacted Reception or any other department - everything was perfect & clear. I just remember Reception Agent Peach, who clearly explained everything about the hotel, so we just followed her tips.
The room was not that big, but for dynamic stay in Bangkok it suites perfectly. The hotel has opened just several months ago - it's always nice to stay in a new hotel, isn't it?
Internet was fantastic! No problems at all!
& I guess the best memories we'll have about this hotel's breakfast. It's just amazing! Especially all these take-away things as coffee & fruits. Moreover - alongside with Internet, it's included to the room rate!
I'll definitely recommend my friends to stay there, the best option for recent graduates to have a shelter in the center of Bangkok! Well done, guys!

Room Tip: Choose high floor - you can get a room with an excellent view!

This hotel is very convenient to all the shopping areas of Bangkok and the Skytrain. The staff is very friendly and nice. The rooms are small but fine for a short stay. The Internet was fast and reliable. The breakfast was just OK and not much to write home about but it was fine.

I loved that the hotel had a coin operated laundry that I could do my own clothes. It made things very easy for me.

I loved the location and for staying in Bangkok, you ask for a more convenient place. Overall, I had a very nice experience there.

We were very pleased with the hotel for our 3 nights stay.

Upon check in, we were served by a friendly guy named Toto. He tried his best to get us connecting rooms with the 3rd room on the same floor. Overall hotel is good and clean, you still get the “new smell” when walk into the room.

Location wise, the hotels has the upper hand. It is just 5 mins walk to National Stadium BTS station and 10 mins to MBK. But you need to pass the front of a construction site (of Ibis Hotel) if you walking that way. But it is no big problem if you just watch where you walking. If you are into local side walk foods, there are food vendors selling fruits, drinks, rice and noodles (different vendors daily) outside the construction site. On the last night, we were too tired to go out for dinner and ordered in pizza which took 15 mins to arrive. Impressive speed especially if you have hungry kids waiting. There is this nice massage place 5 mins walk away which operates from 0800 – 0100 hours. Prices are also reasonable with 1 hour foot massage costing THB200. The timing and location suits us to go down for a quick foot massage after shower and when kids are asleep.

The simple breakfast too works well for us for an early quick starts. It is such a hassle to go looking for breakfast with kids on tow.

There is a small garden outside the hotel next to the drive way which I find is nice touch. It gives you a distance from the main road traffic.

Two things that I wish to highlight to those who intends to stays here:

1. Room doors are not always locked if you let it closed on it owns. You needs to slammed it hard. Always double check before you leave your room.

2. We usually leave the entrance or bathroom light switched on as night light for the kids. There were two switches by the entrance door that controls only the bathroom and main lights (the whole room lights). As the bathroom walls were made of frosted glass and when left the bathroom light on, the room will be brightly lighted up. We could not find any switch that controls just the entrance light. In the end, we had to use bedside light which quite dimmed as night light.

Whilst memory is still fresh in my mind, I will give a rough idea of the transportation cost. Siam station which is just one station away cost THB15. A taxi ride to Chinatown (by meter) cost THB75. Erawan Shrine is about 500 meters away (but on the same straight road) which we went by tuk tuk for THB150. I think it is expensive by local standard but we didn't want to haggle on the last day. It was experience sake for kids. There are plenty of tuk tuks waiting if you turn right as you walked out of the hotel. Most of the time we used BTS for trips to Chatuchak, Siam Paragon and Terminal 21.

Just a note if you are moving around with a stroller, National Stadium station has escalator only for up riding and you need to walk down stairs when coming back. So go with a light umbrella stroller. There isn’t any link on the station that allows you to cut across to MBK. You need to walk along the main road.

Besides the two comments I have made, I am overall satisfied with this new hotel.

Dear SHWL,

Thank you for your kind words of support for our New Hotel in the heart of Bangkok Shopping and site seeing areas. We are really please your enjoyed your stay and recommend us to like minded travelers. Some good takeaways for our team also with the engineering looking at the door issue you had which we will have fixed. Along with the stroller situation on nearby footpaths which unfortunately we cannot control (as there is a construction site 150m away) but we will now prepare our guests with children when leaving the hotel for a walk.

Thanks again and welcome back next time your in Bangkok.

Regards,

Sue,
