“Best swimming pool!”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

Nice hotel, in a decent area of town. Food is OK in the hotel restaurant but they have the AMEX lounge there which is pretty good. Pool and view from is amazing and the rooms are pretty nice. Service was very good as well.

The hotel is linked directly to the BTS train (surasak station, 4 stops away from Siam station), you can even take the train up to the airport (approx 45 min).
Rooms are clean and quite new. The bar was a pleasant surprise, it is located on higher floor (14th) and it is by the pool with a beautiful view of Bangkok.
Breakfast was very good with a good selection.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms have obviously better views but do note that elevators get crowded on peak hours...

I needed to be near the Surasak BTS for a recent business trip, didn't want to spend too much, but also wanted to be comfortable. The Eastin ticked all of those boxes. The hotel is closer to 4-star standard in my opinion, having sampled some of Bangkok's 5-star delights on previous trips. Not that there's anything wrong with that: like most Bangkok hotels, the value for money compared with similar establishments in many other parts of the world is phenomenal. And being directly connected to the BTS is a huge advantage in crowded Bangkok. My "Superior Sky" room was a standard room, albeit on a higher floor. It was tastefully furnished, nicely appointed, appeared brand-new, and suited my purpose. Areas where things could improve were minor: the panel containing power-points and other sockets situated at the desk was poorly fitted and didn't seem to be properly secured to the wall; the TV image quality wasn't great, and the selection of channels was just adequate. There was no option for in-room movies. Some in-room facilities were basic but adequate ... these days I'm getting so accustomed to having real coffee in the room, a hot-water kettle and a couple of sachets of Nescafe doesn't cut it anymore. The mini-bar selection (yes, sometimes I get desperate) was also basic: no low-cal options, apart from water. However, there is a little Family Mart store a couple of doors away, just past the Blue Elephant, where you can stock up.
The breakfast buffet featured plenty of choice, with the various items constantly replenished. I also tried the lunch buffet on one occasion and it too featured lots of choices, and was perfectly satisfactory, if not exactly setting the world on fire. Service from the various staff I came into contact with was faultless, and up to the usual friendly Thai standards. All in all, very good value for the money, and no complaints. However, if you're after something a bit more special, Bangkok has a wealth of wonderful establishments that will blow your socks off.

I love this hotel. Really nice, great service, amazing pool, awesome buffet breakfast, incredibly convenient location (it's attached to the sky train terminal). It's not in the upscale area with the glam clubs so if you're into that you may prefer Sukhumvit area. This location is perfect for me, close to many things and everything else is just a sky train stop away.

Difficult to fault the structure: new building and modern comfort, direct connection to the BTS with easy and close access to either the river or the Silom area, comfortable and quiet rooms, excellent free wifi.
Buffet breakfast offers a large choice of hot and cold fares, western and asian.
Without forgetting the outdoor pool on the 14th floor for a stunning view of Bangkok.

Unfortunately, aircon was not working in our room on the 33rd floor... Several phone calls and up to 3 different so-called engineers one after each other, trying to fix the a/c unit in the room... and each of them : "now please wait 1 or 2 hours, temperature will cool down". Room temperature never went below 26°C.
Shame that the customer is made to believe that things are being fixed and no offer to change room... until we demanded it when it became obvious that things would no go any better.
Room change was done swiftly (despite the surprised face of the reception staff) and solved the problem.

Eastin is close to excellent... if only the staff was better trained to handle problems in a more appropriate way.

one of the few hotels, if not the only one, which is directly connected with the BTS station. Very nice breakfast with lot of variety and comfortable modern looking rooms. The hotel is still new so everything is in an excellent condition. Service was very good.

This was our first time in Bangkok, so we had no idea what was in store for us, hotel-wise, but the East in Grand surpassed all of our expectations.

Our room was on the 31st floor, with views out over the city towards the Chao Phraya river; the decor was luxurious; the staff were fantastic - able and eager to help with any issues we had; and my wife fell in love with the breakfast buffet.

The pool looked great, but unfortunately we were too busy to try it. The views from poolside were fantastic, though.

The only downside is that it's a little remote for alternative restaurants for evening dining. Location-wise for attractions though, it's actually very good, because there is a direct link from the 3rd floor to the BTS station.

Great hotel, and heartily recommended.
