Baan Noppawong is owned by a family who inherited this wooden heritage house from their father/grandfather and gave it a second life by an impressive restoration and conversion into a nice boutique hotel. Hidden in a small alley behind Ratchadamnoen Road (the avenue that leads to the grand palace), the hotel's location is quiet yet conveniently accessible to main attractions in the historic Bangkok. The old house is decorated with antique furniture but offers all the comfort you need. I loved my 2nd floor 'Morakot' room with a charming bathroom with skylight. I stayed for only 2 nights so I didn't really mind a lack of closet and fridge in the room. The breakfast was served in a wooden terrace in a shady back garden. What a nice treat to start a morning. The overall service was good. Staffs were attentive and friendly. Special thanks to the owners and the reception staff who were kind enough to give me details about the history of the old house and how they nicely restored it. I'll definitely return.

Small hotel in the heart of Bangkok historic center (Rattanakosin island). During our way from the airport hotel staff helped our taxi driver to reach the place because it’s really not easy to find (it’s a bit aside from the main road).
We got 2 rooms on the first floor. Our room was just behind the reception desk and I was afraid that it could be very loudly there (as it was in Rome). But the hotel itself is very quite. The only loud thing is our neighbors above (even if they just moved back and force in the room) – very bad sound isolation between floors.
Rooms are quite spacious, have tea-coffee facilities. We didn’t have any wardrobe in our room while our friends did. Not very comfortable to keep all clothes in the luggage.
Bathroom is good. The thing I didn’t like about bathroom is that there is no shower cabin and toilet is located just near the shower. So after taking shower everything is absolutely wet. But as there was extremely hot this small disadvantage didn’t bother us much.
Breakfast has very limited choice (eggs with ham or sausage) but quality of it was very good.
There are 2 very nice cats living on the territory of the hotel:) They are very sweet, like to play and love when you stroke them. Very nice and friendly little creatures!:)

as everyone is aware bangkok is a city that never sleeps and has pounding traffic, millions of tourists, and more tuk-tuks than you could ever need in your life...but you will neither hear, nor be aware of all that if you stay here, despite it being a mere stroll to wat po and the other sights. instead you will wake up to the sound of birdsong, eat breakfast in a lovely garden and if you are very lucky, and book the right room, as we did, be able to wash off the grime of your day sitting under a waterfall in the cool jacuzzi which is just right next to your bed. idyllic or what!
bangkok has a plethora of giant faceless 5 star hotels, and given the prices, im sure most people could afford to stay in any one of them, but this place has pretty traditional wooden houses, such lovely staff, and a real feeling of tranquility about it, that is just such a pleasure to return to after a day in the seething sauna that is bangkok. it is just such a lovely place, and i suggest you stay there, though, as it only has the one room with the jacuzzi, hopefully not when i want to re-book it!

Room Tip: book the suite with the jacuzzi, it is just heaven.

Small hotel with great hospitality. The arquitecture takes you a bit to the past since it reminds old Thais houses. The location is also great just in the center of BKK it will take you some minutes to the grand palace and wat pho you are also close to the river to take a boat trip to wat arun. Rooms are good and clean one suite has a great jacuzzi

If you are looking for a place that feels like home. You might probably like this place. Just a walking distance from Grand palace and Kao san. Hotel staff even provides us pack breakfast for our trip to floating market. Had nothing to say, best hotel so far.

My wife and I stayed here for three days in late January/early February. We like to move around to hotels in different parts of a city or country during our trips, but I really missed this place when we left. It's in a renovated Siamese traditional house, and has many of the old fixtures (lightswitches, etc.). Quite rustic, but also modern and clean. The decor was well-done as well.

It's out of the way, but still near many of the great sights - Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arum, National Museum, Museum of Siam, and Khao San are all within walking distance if you're healthy (except Arum - you have to walk and then take a very short boat trip). However, the grounds are beautiful and seem isolated from the hustle and bustle and pollution of that part of the city. It was a great place to retire to at the end of the day. This fits our style of touring - one big sight and another one or two smaller ones per day, then back to the hotel to digest.

The free breakfast is small, which suited us fine - It kept our stomachs ready for great cusine elsewhere. The regular staff has limited English abilities, but are very kind and helpful. On the day we left, one of them went out to find a taxi driver that could understand English and/or our limited Thai - They didn't just call one over the phone and have us deal with whomever showed up. The manager has impeccable English and was extremely helpful and efficient, recommending sights to see and the best ways to get there before we even asked.

As for it being hard to find, yes, it is, but if it were, say, right on Khao San road, it wouldn't be an oasis in the city. We did a little research ahead of time and found a bus route that took us to Baan Noppawong's neighborhood from the airport without too much trouble (two transfers, as I recall). We had looked at the neighborhood online before we left Thailand, so when we got to the neighborhood, we knew exactly where to go. However, you might want to bring its phone number and address in Thai so you can show it to bus drivers or others so they can get you to the right area.

Problems? A couple, but they are to be expected given the location and the building. It's an old building, and you're not supposed to flush toilet paper. This is run of the mill in old buildings (and some modern ones) all over the world. If that really bugs you, then you'll probably have to stay in a newer place.

Also, and this was more of a delight for me, there are little critters running around here and there. We found a few snails and geckos (up to 10 cm long, perhaps) in our bathroom, part of which is open to the sky (nice touch!). I love these creatures and can study them for hours on end. My wife is scared to death of them, but held up quite well. If she can deal with them and still come away loving the place, anyone can. At any rate, complaining about such critters while wanting a place with some semblance of nature on its grounds just doesn't make any sense at all.

Room Tip: You can opt for a room with a jacuzzi on the ground floor, but given the climate and our travel plan...

Its the most beautiful cottage I ever entered and I could not stop raving about it. Its so well decorated and every little decorative piece in here is pretty. The place is a little off and it we would always spend a great amount of time trying to find the place along with the cab driver. That was a great minus. We arrived in couple of hours early and were charged 1000 baht extra for early check in which we found was not essential. Breakfast is prepared only if ordered the night earlier which we felt was a little inconvenient. But the manager of the place a young man was very helpful in providing us guidance on places to visit, best way to reach there etc which helped us in planning our stay there. There is a night market close by but in terms of location, it is a little inconvenient.
