“Best Luxury Hotel in Bangkok at Affordable Rate”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Having spent a total of a month at this hotel after a shorter visit in the past, I can't say enough about this tremendous property. The rooms are immaculately kept, the service is smooth and thoughtful without being overburdensome, and the cost is a notch below other 5 star hotels in Bangkok, particularly if you opt for the stay 2 nights, get 1 free suite package.

This is a beautiful hotel, in an excellent location (just removed from the hustle and bustle of Sukhumvit Road), with a very high level of service at every position from front desk, bell boys, security, maids, and waitresses. The gym is small, but adequate for cardio work and light weight workouts with the latest in exercise equipment (loved being able to play games on the elliptical and bike machines). The pool is beautiful with nice views of Bangkok, and while one restaurant won't open until later this month or next month, the Cafe is quite nice with good food and excellent service along with a nice breakfast.

The hotel is next to the US Embassy and a 5 minute walk from Lumpini Park (a negative while the demonstrators occupy the park), so there are some safety concerns (though we didn't have any issues during our 1 month stay). There is a continual set of background music, chants, etc from the demonstrators that can be a bit distracting. Across the street is the China Resource building with a small mall and a grocery store, a few restaurants, a bookstore and a Starbucks and ATMs which is convenient. And, the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the nearest BTS rail station (it is hot, so you can opt for the hotel shuttle van which runs every 30 mins - I never found it available).

Bottom line, this is a wonderful choice for a tourist, a business person, or someone staying longer in Bangkok. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We most enjoyed the corner suites which had nice views and a small kitchenette.

If I was writing the new Louis Vuitton guide for Bangkok this hotel would be my star. From the moment we arrived we were impressed at every turn. The welcome is always outstanding irrespective of what space you move into. We grew particularly fond of the chap who welcomed us in from Thanon Withayu (Wireless Road) and the man who anticipated we may be thirsty while poolside. The room was splendid with an interior design aesthetic that resonated throughout the hotel. Café Claire and breakfast was a much loved morning celebration. This weekend was punctuated with gorgeous Easter arrangements. If you can imagine an impossible blend of French elegance, beach house chic, lofty spaces and a pool deck that soars above the urban space while encapsulated by the vast green expanses of the American and Dutch embassies then perhaps you are beginning to see the surreal perfection that is this hotel. We will be back!

Room Tip: The larger parkside rooms and suites are worth consideration.

We stayed 4 nights @ oriental in 2 bed suit, best stay ever. Far better than any 5 star hotel we stayed. We always stay in 5 star hotels in any country we visit but this one standout from all the hotels we stayed, everything is new in the hotel and just love staying there,

Stayed just a few days ago in what can only be described as an uber-spacious 2 bedroom apartment. Stylish fittings and best sleep I have had in a while. The swimming pool is high up and equipped with cabanas and great views of the city. Cafe Claire does a good breakfast and I can vouch for the blueberry pancakes. All staff were very helpful and attentive.

Very good location for CentralWorld and if you like shopping, then set aside at least a day for it, as it's massive. We had no security issues with protesters, but did get hit with buckets of water by exuberant new years celebrators! OR is very close to both the Dutch and US embassies and in a nice part of town. If we are coming through Bangkok again, it will be our first choice.

We booked standard room for 1 night and got free room upgrade upon arrival. The hotel offered a room with living room and huge bathroom. They don't have spa, but they offer inroom massage. The breakfast is good and the stuff is very polite and helpful. The hotel is situated in the center of the city. They offered is 20% discount on future stay in 2014 which was great surprise. Perfect hotel for a good stay in BKK.

An excellent hotel at so many levels. Only its location could be (slightly) held against it.

We arrived early afternoon to a very friendly, smooth and efficient check in. We were shown to our beautiful suite, our cases following in just a few minutes. The suite had a great living area with sofa, TV/DVD combo, desk, small dining table with a couple of chairs and a well equipped kitchen. A limited tea and coffee selection and, surprisingly, no sugar and only two small cartons of coffee creamer in the fridge. I'm sure we could have got more from housekeeping, but we bought some at the 7/11 directly across the road. Whilst nicely decorated our suite had one long, plain wall that was crying out for some pictures on it.

The bedroom had a very large and supremely comfortable bed and a very adequate set of wardrobes and drawers. The valuables safe was cleverly hidden in one drawer, but that made it too shallow for my SLR camera. Lovely touches included interior lighting in the wardrobes and an ironing board and steam iron in one cupboard. The bathroom was beautiful with a large bath (a bit too upright to relax in), shower and toilet cubicles, wash basin and dressing table. Robes and slippers were provided as well as great quality toiletries.

Breakfast in the restaurant was a very pleasant affair and we also had a couple of lunches there. The restaurant staff were a particular delight, but every member of staff was super friendly and obliging. The fourth floor pool deck was great and the pool was big enough to get some swimming in. It was complemented by a nice bar area which had a happy hour from 17:00. Like all hotels food and drink prices were a bit high compared to surrounding venues, but the in room mini bar prices were realistic.

The hotel sits on Wireless Road in what is very much an embassy district with few restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The nearest Skytrain station is perhaps a ten minute walk. The hotel provides a free shuttle every half hour to the Skytrain station. The very next station is Siam Square where the big malls are and it would be a nice touch if the shuttle just drove that little bit further as I'm sure that's where many guests are headed. The hotel readily will get you a metered taxi who's fares are quite cheap, but not many want to use their meters coming back at night.

This is a great hotel that thoroughly deserves its high ranking among Bangkok hotels. If and when we return to Bangkok we would have no hesitation in staying here again, especially if we got the same bargain rate of only THB 15,000 for three nights due to their free night offer!
