Getting to Unico Premier Metrolink (UPM) is half the fun. As we were AAs (AirAsiaers), at Don Muang Airport, head for Gate 6, or where all the buses are and head for Chatuchak market/ MRT train stop. Take this train to Petchaburi MRT stop, and take Exit 3, and you'll be right in front of the hotel. However, turn left, then right and walk until you see the Unico hotel sign, and voila, you are there.
Stayed on the 5th floor, facing the main road. The hotel is modish, very new and clean. Get the lowdown on the pros and cons below-
Pros
- 2 min walk to hotel
- Got an upgrade to a superior, with larger room space. Had all the amenities you would expect ie safe, actual cupboard, coffee making facilities, slippers, robes etc.
- Power showers even on the 5th floor, and compact toilet and bath. Loved the granite look.
- Tiled floors, and not smelly stained carpets
- Once out of the hotel, it's just a 5 minute walk across the road, heading toward Sukumvit and you can get food at Midtown plaza, Tesco Express etc.
- Good breakfast spread, mix of Thai and Western which changed everyday
- Good staff who spoke and understood English well - Beng deserves special mention here.
- 60 baht taxi takes you to central Pratunam in less than 10minutes.
- Central location via MRT and taxi to all of Bangkok
- Promised wake up call for early morning flight was delivered promptly.
- Rooms cleaned daily
Cons
- Hairdryer that was not hot, and when asked to change it to a more usual ' hot' kind, we got a technician coming to the room to check. He however spoke little English when we tried to explain the problem. So he goes off, then the front desk calls seeking further explanation etc. By this time, as we rushing off, we just gave up, and was just resigned to a functional hair dryer that seemed to be set to a cool setting for the duration of our stay.
- The diva-head-honcho front manager - Jenny was an interesting character in comparison to her down to earth and obliging colleagues. She appeared aloof and could not take any jokes, as we tried to banter etc, and muttered a lot under her breath to her staff in Thai. We especially hated that as it was very rude and low class (you would expect that of shop staff) considering that the hotel was of good quality. She also promised a breakfast box in view of our early checkout the next morning, which was not done. Odd as other reviews indicated that this was done, regardless of prompting. We were obviously not her favorites.
-The hotel is located in an alley off the train station, which in itself may appear unsafe, but there is a security guard. However, the surrounds are dicey and run down, so this hotel stood like a beacon of modernity in a very grunge like area.
- There are no immediate shops except for a bar and a massage place, which charges slightly higher massages than sukumvit places.
- Often heard the airport train tooting at odd hours, which can make it slightly noisy. However, it does have double glazing as we couldn't hear the traffic.
Overall, still had a good experience, and may consider this hotel again. However, since there are so many choices, trying out a hotel is often more fun in itself. Also may stay closer to Chitlom/Pratunam if was making it a sole shopping experience. Heading back to Don Muang cost us 500baht and was paid for and booked with the hotel.

Room Tip: Stay in rooms away from the road, for total quiet.

Had a great stay in this hotel. Clean rooms and helpful staff. Jojo at the Front Desk assisted us in arranging the tours and answered all our queries. Hotel is accessible by the metro as the hotel is just a 5-10 minute walk to the Makassan Airport Link and about 3 minute walk to Petchaburi MRT Station. One downside of this hotel is that there's no rest nearby.

Unico Premier Metrolink Hotel is conveniently located in Bangkok. Steps from Makassan rail station which takes you straight into Suvarnabhumi Airport. The Phetchaburi metro station is in front of the hotel and you only need to walk around the corner to reach the hotel. This is very good considering that Bangkok is a city with traffic worse than L.A.
The hotel is clean, modern, and the staff is very, very friendly, specially Mr. Susie who works at the front desk in the mornings. The staff is very friendly and will provide you with all the information you need in order to visit the city on your own. The hotel provides a convenient taxi service for travelers who arrive in Bangkok very late at night at a very, very low price. From the metro station located in front of the hotel, you can virtually go to all the tourist attractions on your own. You wouldn't find a great hotel with such a low price in Bangkok with a great breakfast included..!!! (eggs, juice, milk, cereal, fruit, coffee, etc, etc). If you go to Bangkok, go to Metro Link Hotel.

I stayed here on vacation for 10 days, the staff is very friendly, the hotel itself is located in a small alley directly off the main road and the metro station. For $35 a night it was great deal, no amenities besides a small reasturant and bar, ac worked, free wifi and laundry service. Comfy bed and great bathroom. It's a small room but how much time will you spend in the room when you have all of Bangkok to see?
