“Majestic get away with personable service.”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

One of the most enjoyable stays I've had, and a great way to end our Bangkok trip - The Siam was a luxe rustic getaway in a site filled with lush greenery. The hotel was tastefully designed with historic details, and the room and bathrooms were spacious & well laid out.

My wife and I really enjoyed their entertainment system and their selection of music/movies available which kept us company on a rainy day - just imagine if you had the in flight entertainment system of a top notch airline in your hotel room.

Breakfast selection was extensive and freshly made to order, and I am a big fan of their strong and aromatic coffee. The pool is situated next to the river and pier, very chill. We also cannot compliment enough the service of Grub-khun and his sense of humour plus gracious hospitality. He really took care of our every need which included the retrieval of important items I had absent minded left behind in another hotel. Our deepest appreciation for putting us at ease.

If there was any downside to the hotel would be its location on the further end of the river and I guess Bangkok's notorious traffic. Nonetheless, the boat shuttle to the nearest BTS (Thaksin Bridge) and pier (which connect to the other part of the river e.g. Chinatown and Asiatique) were well appreciated. It's not a hotel meant to facilitate shopping though the taxi service is great as long as traffic is clear. The Siam a hotel well equipped to charm you with a relaxing stay. A MUST TRY if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle!

Room Tip: Do check if the drainage of the rain shower is functioning well. Ours was ok but a bit on the slow s...

May be the finest hotel I have ever stayed in on an overall basis. Huge (really huge) rooms, nice bathrooms, lovely romantic grounds, interesting and historical decor - it's all there. But what really sets the Siam apart is its staff. From Mac the day butler down to the waitresses in the restaurant, the staff are universally and consistently polite, gracious, and helpful.

Breakfast was included with our room and was cooked to order as opposed to the dismal continental spread offered by some hotels. Fresh squeezed orange juice and Eggs Benedict outdoors by the river - delightful.

My wife loved the spa and I enjoyed the water taxi (a yacht, really) and the library.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Simply superb. These people try hard, and it shows. Very convenient to Doucit and water taxi is great asset.

I highly recommend this establishment. This place is a heaven. The room is full of charm and the service is exactly what you expect when coming to Thailand! The dinner is more than perfect, with delicious food that will make your taste buds happy! Great chic decoration, full of refinement with great attention to details in all areas. Also we enjoyed the well-equipped gym and the fantastic spa. Also the location of this place will allow you to reach many points of interest. The staff is simply impeccable, with top notch courtesy, they will make sure that you will experience your best stay here. There is nothing much you can ask more from this place.

Stayed at the Siam in Bangkok in Oct/Nov 2013.

First the good: The grounds of the hotel were absolutely beautiful, with a nice waterfront dining/drinks area, fun pool, and cool deco decor. We stayed in a river view pool villa which was spacious and quite comfortable.

Now the bad: it's VERY tough to get to as a non-Thai speaking tourist. Other than the private river boat shuttle (which runs only every 90min, and was >20min late on 2 occasions), we didn't find anyone who knew where the place was. Taxi drivers were scratching their heads--even with a map the hotel provided! In one instance, we showed the map to 10 taxis, none of whom could even guess where the hotel was. The hotel management needs to do a MUCH better job in providing transportation options, or at least launch an informational campaign for the taxi drivers.

Second, the mosquitoes were brutal. I understand that this is a hotel in the tropics on a waterway, but we've stayed at plenty of other places in tropical Asia and Central/South America in which the skeeters problem was well-managed. The wife and I were totally bitten up on the first night, and it just got worse. That's despite leaving the room doors closed, A/C on, and taking other precautions. The mosquito problem needs to be solved before we would recommend staying there.

The service was friendly, but very "uncertain," which I got the impression was a communications issue with the staff. For example, we asked for recommendations of restaurants and were given a lengthy list of names without recommendation; we asked for recommendations of what time we should go somewhere, we were handed a list of the water ferry schedule.

Overall, pretty property with pretty big problems, considering the sizable price tag.

Room Tip: Non-river view rooms might have less mosquito risk. Might.

The Siam really is an excellent place to stay if you like small, intimate, boutique hotels. The decor is very different, a black and white theme throughout with quite amazing antiques everywhere you look. The staff are extremely friendly and very accommodating. Jason, the GM, and Mac helped us with our itinerary for our 3 night stay. Jason also recommended places to go and eat in Singapore, our next destination.

Room Tip: We had a Riverview suite on the 3rd floor which was excellent.

I am in residence currently at the Siam and could not be more pleased with the hotel. The room is divine so comfortable and spacious . The spa is fantastic and the gym very nice as well. The food and service really great. So happy I am staying here rather than the chaotic Mandarin.

My friend and I have decided to book Siam on our 1st visit to Bangkok. The hotel turned out to be small and luxury, with extremely helpful and friendly staff, great dining experience and spa. On our arrival, we were taken around the hotel and were told it was owned by one of Thai celebrities (hence the amazing décor). The whole experience was rather peaceful and made us feel at home. Siam is a great option for people wanting to do sightseeing, especially if you come as a family or a couple. There’s also a private boat from the hotel, which takes you to the BTS and closer to the modern area of Bangkok (Sukhumvit).
