I've probably stayed in all guesthouses around Khaosarn Road in the past few years, and never been really happy until I found this one. It's quiet, it's run by very nice people, and the decoration is somewhat unique for the neighborhood, which is famous for cheap, but low quality accommodation. The Korbua might not be the cheapest, but the quality of the hotel is definetily worth the higher price. Right by the canal, and five minutes walk from Khaosarn... can't beat that. The boat stop for the Sukumwit is also near. Great place, I'll definetily come back next time I go to Bangkok.

I can't rate this place highly enough in terms of service and cleanliness. Have stayed in a few hotels around the Khaosan area and this one really stands out in a district where, it seems to me, hoteliers no long go the extra mile.

This hotel is very new, and it shows in the quality of the rooms - absolutely spotless. Excellent air-con, plenty of good hot water, free wifi, good towels/sheets and an interesting view from the balcony onto the canal below (check out the local fish being fed by the market staff across the road, and the giant lizard that resides in the water). Just a few minutes walk to Rambuttri/Khaosan but quiet at night.

The restaurant serves the best food I have had in the area, and at a reasonable price. Free coffee/tea provided there in the mornings for guests, and a range of magazines and daily newspaper is available.

What really stands out though is the front desk and restaurant staff. Friendly, courteous and polite - and incredibly helpful. Two examples: on booking a (well-priced) tour through the hotel, the receptionist remembered the day of my tour, and offered to ring to confirm. She also insisted that she would call me when the tour bus arrived, and to relax in the room until then. On a day that the rain really pelted down in Bangkok, I had a small leak in my room. When I told the front desk staff, I was upgraded free of charge and moved to a new room, literally within 5 minutes.

For a budget hotel, the rooms and the staff deserve high praise indeed.

Room tip: The beds in the executive room are a little softer than those in the deluxe and there is a lot more floor space.

Staying at Korbua house was one of the best decisions my boyfriend and I made when coming to Thailand. Situatiated a short five minute walk away from Khao San Road, the hotel had the perfect location. We realize now after staying at Korbua house how unpleasant it would have been to stay directly on the loud and noisy strip of Khao San, so we were very happy with the location of this hotel. It is also very easy to hail a cab right out front. Be sure, however, to always have the hotel address and phone number written down as many cab drivers do not know where the hotel is.

Let me take a few moments to truly give thanks to the staff of the hotel, who are without a shadow of a doubt the best staff we have ever come across. Attentive, professional and always so pleasant, the staff of Korbua house made our trip to Bangkok as great as it was. They never hesitated to share a friendly conversation and give us information about various attractions in the city. Most impressively, they were always one step ahead of us anticipating our needs - the mark of true quality service. The front desk attendant, Walloweese, was an absolute gem. She truly was a savior during our trip and she even saved us from an unfortunate run in with the tuk tuk mafia!

The hotel also boasts a wonderful massage parlor right next door that offers great massages for a very reasonable price. We also appreciated that it was indoors with air conditioning and was extremely clean unlike many of the other massage parlors we had seen in town. The restaurant at the hotel is wonderful as well. After visiting other restaurants in the Khao San and Rambuttri districts, we kept coming back to the hotel restaurant because of its great food, service and cleanliness.

The rooms themselves were also a treat. Immaculately clean and newly renovated, we felt it perfectly served our needs. There is also a large rain shower head in the bathroom.

We would be more than happy to have the opportunity to stay at Korbua house again in the future. We send our most sincere thanks to the staff of Korbua house for making our stay in Bangkok so wonderful.

Here are a few general things we learned from our trip that we wished we had known:
- be extremely wary of scammers outside of the major temples (grand palace and wat po). The scammers will tell you a host of lies of why you cannot enter the temple and will try to coax you to come to another tourist attraction. Sometimes even the tuktuks and cabs will take you to a fake entrance that they claim is the Grand Palace and lead you to scammers. Our hotel attendant coined them the "tuk tuk mafia" as there is an intricate system in place to scam tourists. Aside from the scammers, be aware that all men and women most wear shirts that cover their shoulders, long pants and closed toed shoes to enter the Grand Palace.

- as tourists, everyone should be aware that taking a cab in Thailand without using the cab meter not only costs more, but is illegal.  Taxi drivers who insist on not using the meter will try to negotiate a price with you that is higher than would normally be for the desired destination.  We found this to be problematic around the big metropolitan centers in Bangkok (MBK and Siam Paragon shopping centers), where official cab lineups have "taxi officials" who do not help in ensuring that the cabs are using their meter, and the cab drivers drop you off in inconvenient locations if you don't negotiate a price.  This caused us a great deal of headache while we visited the malls.

Recently we stayed in a standard room at Korbua house for a couple of days. The hotel is conveniently located if you would like to be in the Banglamphu (tourist) area but don't want to stay up all night listening to the maddening beats and partying crowds at Khao San Road or Soi Rambuttri. The rooms are spotless and the beds are heavenly. Staff is friendly and helpful.
With so many good breakfast/lunch/dinner options in the vicinity of Korbua house we chose to only have breakfast at the Korbua house once. It was fine, but not more than that.
