Holiday In Bangkok was the final place we stayed during our visit of SE Asia. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Our room was of a good size for three adults and was comforatble.
We ate in the hotel a couple of times and the food was outstanding. We didn't use the pool as it was a bit cooler on the days we were staying there with it being a rooftop pool.
As I work in the hotel industry I asked if it would be possible to see the function rooms and they were more than happy to show me round.
The location of the hotel is a short walk from the sky train but is more in the business side of town. It's handy if you want to go shopping in the famous MBK or visit China Town. It is however so cheap to travel round Bangkok you can get everywhere you need to it's just if you want the convenience of the location.
One of the best Holiday Inn's I have been to

We booked connecting Executive Club rooms and were not disappointed! Fantastic rooms, great bathrooms and very comfy beds! The check in was efficient and done in the Club Lounge, where cold drinks were provided. The staff there were very helpful. From 6pm until 8pm we had free food and drink in the lounge which was of a very high standard, also free wifi in lounge too. Drinks included quality wine and plenty of top brand spirits, beers and soft drinks. Breakfast could be taken there too although the main restaurant had a bigger selection and was fantastic. Location was good and convenient to sky train. Can't comment on other room types and should I go again I would book the same. Stayed in Crown Tower.

Room Tip: Club floor rooms all the way! They are higher up too so good view of city!

My wife, 9 year old son and I stayed 4 nights in a Club Room at the Holiday Inn Silom in March, as part of a multi stop trip to Thailand. The hotel is well situated on Silom Road for many of the toursit attractions but the area around the hotel itself is nothing special. We stayed in a Club Room which was excellent; upper floor, beautifully furnished, fantastic bathroom, large, with Club Lounge access and free Wi Fi. The staff in the Club Lounge are excellent and could not do enough for us. By the second day they new what we liked to drink during happy hour without having to ask. We breakfasted in the Lounge as well (although you can go down to main restaurant) which had a lovely relaxed atmosphere alhough the trade off was perhaps a lesser choice, but all three of us managed to get plenty we liked each morning. We ate lunch in the ground floor restaurant one day and the a la carte choice was good and reasonably priced while there was also an excellent value buffet available - it was a Saturday and there seemed to be plenty of locals eating there which is always a good sign. Another good sign is the fact that many airlines appear to put their crews in this hotel on stopovers.
Only a couple of negatives: 1) Pool area is pretty tired looking and noisy and because of the high buildings it loses the sun mid afternoon,
2) When we arrived the Bell Boys snatched away my wife and son's back packs with our suitcase, tellling us not to worry, they would be delivered to our room. They whisked the bags away before we could really say anything. After checking in at the Club Lounge and having a drink we went to our room to find all three bags waiting. Unfortunately, the pocket of one of the back packs had been unzipped and my son's camera had gone. A hard lesson for the young man, who up until then had only ever seen the wonderfully kind nature of the Thai people during his five visits to the country. We didn't report it at the time as we had no doubt that no sign of the camera would be found! When I goit home I posted a comment on Facebook regarding my son's christmas present being stolen and Holiday Inn did get in touch but after a few days we got the expected response: nothing to with us - our staff are all honest. Be aware - although Thailand is a wonderful country, Bangkok is just like any other big city world wide, so do not let hotel staff rush you in to handing over unlocked luggage.

Room Tip: Club Rooms are excellent value and service from Club Lounge staff is wonderful.

The Holiday Inn on Silom is a long-standing hostelry in BKK. A complete overhaul is on-going so some floors in the Tower may not yet be up to scratch. But I have stayed in the main building and Club floors and in all those rooms, the room itself and the service you get is just incredible.
Other impresive features of the hotel is the magnificent daily Buffet Breakfast. Again, it's the smiles you meet that make staying here so relaxing and engaging.
You used to have to avoid going back to the hotel by road traffic inthe afternoon because of the serious traffic congestion along Silom rd. But now, the Skytrain is just minutes walking away and even if it's hot - you can immediatly step into a nice cool shower.
About the only disappointing thing is the rather small and enclosed swimming pool! But not so many business people have a chance to go swimming during the day in busy BKK.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are better

Hotel was okay staff very business like but not friendly. Bedroom okay but awful view actually no view at all. Bedroom was pleasant enough but bathroom was small and very outdated. Have actually stayed before and received much better room so was disappointed this time. The food was lovely and the staff unlike the receptionists were very friendly. Will not stay here again prefer smaller more friendly establishments.
