“Quite old but has the best location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

Located in the center of the city and just across the street of Central World / Zen / Isetan.
Also the sky train station is right outside of the hotel, which is very good for avoiding the Bangkok traffic.

The hotel facility is quite old though.
Bathroom tiles reveal that it hasn't been renovated for years.

Service is very good though the check-in process took me half an hour.

Anyway this is probably best hotel if transportation convenience is your priority in Bangkok downtown.

Days ago I was back in this hotel. It was 2 February, day of elections in Thailand, and there were demonstrations outside. I saw some strange guys in the lobby, with walkie talkies and I could see that the staff were not comfortable with them. Now there are news in the Bangkok Post that Thai authorities are going to hear the hotel's management because they have allegedly been harbouring the protesters that have are fighting to suspend democracy in the Kingdom. Suddenly, all pieces fell into place for me!!

Would defiantly come back again had a great time everyone was helpful I felt like I was home. Heaps of things to see and do. The restaurant had amazing food very high quality and worth every penny. Although the air con in the room was very noisy as that did not effect my experience.

This hotel location is great right in the center of shopping which is good if you need to buy gifts for friends and family. As always the Thai way is warm and greeting even on your first trip. The cigar bar is cozy if you are inclined to have a puff. Tawan from front desk could not have been more helpful. Duk from the restaurant always stops by and greets us when we travel which creates a family atmosphere

Room Tip: Executive floor rooms are my preference as the lounge is a great place for breakfast

I am a frequent guest to this hotel in Bangkok. There are lots of options but the IC Bangkok has a great location and incredible staff. Makes you feel so relaxed even before arrival at the hotel. Even during the challenging time of the recent protests, the hotel never missed a beat. Rooms are very comfortable. Hotel does need to invest in new fiber filled pillows but other than that, it's always a fantastic stay. Can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: Side facing the Holiday Inn is best.

Although it was a short visit to a wonderful and exciting city, staying in this hotel added the finishing gloss to a beautiful country.

The service is excellent for such a hotel, the food was delicious. Love the thai food offered, and the facilities were good.

Location is excellent. and the weather was cool and breezy.

Room Tip: A good choice to make, if you have the budget for it. I would definitely return.

The Intercontinental Bangkok is still the same classic IHG hotel where we stayed decades ago in other places travelling for business. A big hotel operation for wedding banquets, biz seminars etc., very good restaurants, spacious rooms and storage and overall good service. We made our choice on location and the concierge service, both mentioned in the TA reviews and it was the right decision.

At the airport we had a perfect luxury van with wifi, very comfortable after a long flight with 4 plus our luggage.

The location is indeed one of the best for shopping and having the skytrain at Chidlom just next door is a big advantage as is the skyway for walking to the shopping centers.
Due to the ungoing nearby demonstrations late out in the eveninggave in most cases no problems getting a taxi back to the hotel. Beware of drivers trying to make an extra profit out of the situation, asking higher prices or started to refuse for the destination, but we found always another one.

The hotel did everything to take care of her guests by keeping us updated by letter with the ongoing situation and gave for the "inconvenience" a 20% discounts for the restaurants and breakfast checks for the time being.
The security was perfect, the belporter was checking taxinumbers we ordered and we felt more than save.

It was the outstanding help of ms Jam Tiwaree, their new concierge, who regarding a non-reputable tailor problem made in perfect English the difference, to give us her full assistance, making phonecalls, advising us and was even offering a staff member joining us for the Tourist Police if we needed!
It was just that unique service we appreciated so much.

Is there a point of constructive critism for the manangement? Yes.
On arriving we asked the front office for a possible upgrade for our advance booking at higher prices for 2 rooms for 4 nights, knowing that due to the demonstrations with less bookings there were lower ongoing prices.
But we got no reaction.
You can't win them all, that's perhaps the other side of a big organisation.

In any case, thanks to ms Tiwaree and her desk we made the right choice, we had an excellent stay.

Please note for an other breakfast or lunch nearby at Mercury Center restaurant "On the Table" (Japanese fusion), also very good and not expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for the higher floors, less noise traffic and skytrain..
