Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort

We have stayed at this resort many times when it was managed by Marriott but Anantara has done a fantastic job in taking over. They understand Bangkok and running a beautiful resort right on the river. The short but beautiful boat ride to the Sky Train was great.
The pool is one of the best of any resort we have ever been. The rooms are all in rich teak wood with very modern upgrades and fixtures.
Anyone staying here would benefit from true Thai service and there is no shortage of great eating places. Trader Vic's and Benihana restaurants are great and right on the resort premise.

Just stayed for one night this time, and sampled the newly refurbished bedrooms overlooking the river, very cleverly done and with lots of mirrors all over the bathroom (not ideal for concealing just how much weight one puts on on Far Eastern holidays.......).
Always delightful service and staff, and particular praise for the Spa where we enjoyed massage and manicure/pedicure.
The Anantara is consistently a pleasant place to stay, and the River Shuttle gives an additional (and free) extra which is good fun.

very nice hotel, in a fantastic position, close to the centre (you can reach downtown evey 20 minutes with the private boat). Big rooms, very quite. Nice area outside with a big garden/pool. 5 good restaurants over the river and a divine breakfast!

Great variety of breakfast. Spacious Suite room with big bath tub. View looking over Chaopraya River is fantastic. Hotel shuttle boat is very good. It made life easier going around Bangkok by sky train. Pastry shop is good.

When we were there, there was a Thai wedding for Thai and foreigner at Trader Vic's garden. We got to see traditional Thai wedding ceremony. It was very nice and respectful. Will be back again.

Lush green gardens, fountains, water passages, ..amazing landscaping where you least expect it ..in central Bangkok.
I was fooled by the special offers they had, and got a horrible room, completely run down as if it was handed over from worn out second hand shop. With a box TV.... ! I refused to stay there and asked for room change! And I got the room with a view, with plasma screen all fesh and modern with balcony overlooking the river for an extra 500Bhts!!!! I was angry at my luck! , but decided I won't ruin my holiday. Their breakfast was complimentary with the room. Truly exceptional breakfast brunch.in outdoor and indoor areas. My mom and I went to the gym, walked, took classes, almost forgot we were in Bangkok.. There was a shuttle boat to other side, to pick the metro.... Their dinner buffet is too pricey and poor. In room unlimited free wifi. The best choice for those who seek nature and hate high rise hotels.

Room Tip: New refurbished rooms nothing else, overlooking the river .

I often travel to Bangkok for work and the Anantara is my first choice of stays. I have stayed in other fine, high end hotels and found them to be exceptional, but there's a quiet, peaceful, unpretentious feel to the Anantara that the others cannot touch. The gardens, grounds and architecture are lovely, giving a feeling like you are miles away from the bustle of Bangkok. Its location on the river about a mile and a half south of the main hotel and restaurant region may make it seem a bit distant, but the hotel boat can have you at Saphan Taksin pier in 15 minutes. Plus, the distance adds to the serenity. There's also a new Asiatique shopping district practically across the river. I wish I could give it six starts since it's my favorite place to stay anywhere.

Room Tip: I have never stayed in a bad room, but river view gives to a nice morning sunrise.
