Stayed going to and from Europe. Tranquillity of the resort with easy access to busy Bangkok shopping area was wonderful.
Staff very helpful and amenities all that you could wish for. Breakfast range is excellent as is the the variety of eating options within the resort...Trader Vics has a great menu and atmosphere. Local shopping complex opposite provides the alternative chain foods such as Mc, Sizzler,Star Bucks.
Rooms are clean/spacious and fulfil all needs..coffee/tea making, iron..
Would definitely stay again.

We had booked this in advance as a treat to end a month long trip in Thailand. After travelling around and spending the last few days on beautiful Koh Tao we were unsure we wanted to head to Bangkok after all. Arriving into the city and getting ripped off by every taxi driver in sight we wished we'd stayed on the islands. However the second we walked into this hotel we changed our minds. It was just beautiful and relaxing and the service was wonderful. We checked in and treated ourselves to room service as we arrived at about 10pm. Due to a mix up with booking, we got free breakfast, and wow! It was a huge fresh buffet with some amazing foods. We got a huge bag of bread to feed the catfish and jumped on the free shuttle boat. Got straight from there onto a boat headed to the Grand Palace. After a hot sweaty day in Bangkok, the cooling towel on the ferry was brilliant, followed by jumping into the giant deep pool. As we swam up to the bar and ordered a Mai Tai (Happy hour) some dancers came around the pool and they had a lighting of the torches ceremony - the kind of touch we did not have anywhere else in Thailand. We ate here both nights, and it was extortionate for Thailand, but it was good! Had one evening in Trader Vics with cocktails and ribs and seafood, and another at the more casual restaurant on the jetty, beautiful view and reasonably priced Thai Curry's. The only downside was there was a festival on and even on the top floor it was so loud it could be heard through ear plugs. However it obviously didn't ruin the stay! Would recommend anyone stay here, the whole place and service were just amazing. A perfect end to a great trip in Thailand

Room Tip: We were in the cheapest room and have nothing to compare it to but it was just fine!

We continued our stay in Anantara following 5nights in another hotel in down town Bkk shopping hub. We needed a break away and didn't want to have to travel for hours in the car to either Pattaya or Hua Hin. We are so glad we chose this hotel! It was exceptionally resort living in the middle of the city. The river view was gorgeous and wonderful sunrise each morning on our balcony made us feel so relaxed. Great pool area where you are surrounded by palm trees and tropical vines. You do feel you are in Hua Hin or somewhere far. Great buffet dinner at night. Array of delicious food and Thai entertainment. For your convenience in front of hotel and connected, you will go through shops and restaurants ie swensen, Boots, starbuck, mc donalds etc. They also have cheap Thai massages as well. Very good for people who needs that extra from outside the hotel. The hotel provides a free boat to Asiatique. Great. Service as it comes each half hour. Great way to see the river as well.
Asiatique was good. Worth your while as there's not much else in surrounding location.
Would stay here again, however next time I am sure to book through Expedia. We booked through hotel for the exact same room type and it was $30AUD each night more. So lessen leant again.

Overall would stay here again with my family. Very lovely staff and guests here are not rude and loud. They are all lovely which made it more tranquil.

Room Tip: Get the room facing the river. Well worth it each morning and night. And try and stay up on the high...

Our first visit to Bangkok - we stayed at this hotel and absolutely loved it! The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds - soooooo comfortable, wish i could have bought it home with me!
The hotel was large and spacious, with nice decor.
Everywhere was immaculate - always cleaning. The terrace, where you can have breakfast, was by the riverside and it was lovely to just watch the life on the river. You can pick up a boat to take you into downtown Bangkok at the back of the hotel, which we loved!
There were a few bars and places to eat and a lovely place selling chocolate! Just outside the hote, there are more shops and restaurants, which we found to be resonably priced.
The pool is smallsih but services its purpose of cooling you off. The pool bar did nice food and we had an unusual experience when a 4 foot lizard decided to stroll pass the sunbeds, before disappearing into one of the ponds - definately a time to have a camera, which luckily, we did! We also were able to watch a wedding, which was an intersting experience and the costumes were amazing!
All in all, a fantastic place to stay and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time!

This is me and my wife's experience after spending four days at Anantara Resort and Spa:

The good:
-One of the best things of this hotel is the fact that you don't feel you are in a big city despite being fairly centrally located, it really is like a tropical oasis in the middle of Bangkok's urban jungle!
-Very nicely decorated room, not too big, but modern and with all amenities
-Clean room
-The room was usually very quiet, very good noise isolation, some noise from the river at times, but you can't blame the hotel for that, after all Bangkok can be a noisy city
-The breakfast is amazing with a huge variety of Western, Indian, Thai and Japanese food. Also a nice variety of desserts and pastries
-The pool is big and nice with many palm trees and greenery surrounding it
-The management actually cared a lot about our feedback and listened to it. One of the managers even gave us a nice box of chocolates delivered to our room with a card expressing apologies for some problems we had, but also gratitude for the feedback we provided
-The Sunday brunch at Trader VIC's restaurant offers good value and a nice variety when compared to other Bangkok Hotels offering the same. Will definitely come back for that
-There's a safe in every room, and it's easy to use
-The curtains are dark and covers the windows well, made the room dark and easy to sleep in even after sunrise
-Got a complimentary half day extension for free when we asked to stay until 7 o'clock on the day we checked out
-Free shuttle boat to the ferry pier and BTS at Saphan Taksin
-Traditional Thai dance performances every evening

The not so good:
-The most disappointing thing about the hotel is the quality of the food served at the many restaurants, some of them like Trader VIC's and Benihana serve nice food and the breakfast at "The Market" is also very nice, but apart from that we were quite disappointed with the very average food quality at high prices
-"Brio and Loy Nam" were especially disappointing for eating. Brio is very nicely decorated and the service is very good, unfortunately even the "Pizza Company" which is a lot cheaper can beat them on taste!
-A lot of people not staying at the hotel come to eat at the hotel restaurants, making it necessary to book a table, even then you might not get one, missed out on one buffet because of that
-No prices and descriptions displayed at the bakery/café "Numero Uno", so we had to ask the staff every time we wanted to know prices or get product info, not very practical (by the time we left they started to display prices, maybe complaining about it helped?)
-Had to wait a little bit to be seated for breakfast one morning when we went for breakfast at about 0915, not a big problem, but the fact that some of the food was never refilled created a rush to grab food before they ran out of it!
-Overall service is OK, but nothing spectacular for a 5 star hotel, but the managers we spoke to were very professional
-This is a 5 star hotel, so expect 5 star prices, this shouldn't be a surprise
-Expensive and unstable Internet connection, but can be quite fast at times
-Most cab drivers seem a bit unsure about where the hotel is
-Had to pay for the room in advance and could not put restaurant bills on the room, when we complained about it they changed that, they apparently had cases with customers running away from the bill!
-Check-in took 25 minutes, one reason being the hotel at first didn't honour the price quote we got when we booked online, they eventually gave in

All in all Anantara is a resort with a huge potential to be among one of the best resorts in Bangkok, it just needs to first and foremost improve the quality of the food being served and work out a series of other more minor issues. It is one of the few hotels in Bangkok where one doesn't feel one is in Bangkok, but still is fairly close to the city centre. The big swimming pool and the feeling of being in a tropical oasis was the best part of the stay for us.

Room Tip: Get a room in the new section of the hotel and beware that even if a riverside room can offer a stun...

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for the extensive review you have posted on Tripadvisor after your recent stay. I am very happy and proud to read your list of things you like and appreciate about us and especially the experiences like the breakfast, Brunch in Trader Vic's, our Benihana restaurant, our newly renovated rooms etc. I am sorry that you did not have a great food experience in Brio. We are concerned about that and we are so pleased that we have seen you coming back again since your last stay and that we had the chance to personally meet and talk about this. We hope there will be more visits to come and we also hope you will try Brio again during your next visit. Our Italian Chef and Executive Chef would be delighted to take care of you.

Once again, thank you for having taken the time to write and it was a pleasure to meet you.

We had a wonderful stay in the newly renovated rooms with a stunning view of Chaopraya river. The rooms are well appointed, beautiful and comfortable. We love the high level of personal service, staff is very attentive and warm. Anantara offers an impressive selection restaurants and bars. We enjoyed dinners at Brio (Italian cuisine) and Trader Vic's (Pacific Rim cuisine). Also much recommended is the Thai cooking class! We will return!
Warmest regards,
Family Tsang
