This will be a long review, but I know how helpful these are prior booking a hotel, so I will take my time writing this and hoping to help lots of guests to make their choice or opinion about Anantara Riverside.

I stayed with my sister at Anantara Riverside to end up our Thai-journey this August.
I had booked a Junior Premiere Suite for us, to invite her for her graduation, but we were more than lucky to be upgraded to an Anantara one-bedroom-suite by the residence manager Mr. Volkert. (Thank you!)

By booking a suite you are entitled to use the Kasara-Lounge (located in the lobby) of the hotel, which is a great thing and can be also purchased by room-only guests (I guess for a supplement charge of about 1000Baht p.P.). So our check-in was done in the Lounge itself and we received coffee directly, as well as sweets. They offer a High-Tea every day from 14.00hrs - 16.00hrs with cakes & fruits, as well as a Cocktail-time from 16.30 - 19.30hrs with different snacks/canapés and alcoholic drinks. We are not drinking alcohol, but the friendly staff was always mixing us non-alcoholic mocktails and pampered us with iced coffee. If you can, try to book a suite or add the Lounge to your booking, we really feel it is something great just to pass by the Lounge after coming back from the town to have a drink before you go to your room.

Coming now to our suite: The Anantara Suite we got was gorgeous! Long corridor, seating corner, "kitchen"-area with Nespresso-machine (felt like home - capsules always refilled by housekeeping), mini-bar, wine-cooler,.... a small guest-washroom, then the living room with a fruit basket on arrival, a huge bedroom with two comfy beds plus the enormous bathroom with walk-in rain-shower and a bathtub as well as two sinks! It is a corner suite, so we had a balcony around the corner with view to the beautiful green garden as well as to the river.
Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bath-salt, bath foam,...soap..everything was provided in the suite and the smell of the Anantara products is just lovely & fresh! Also, we had lots of towels.

Only thing about the room which we would change is to put a kind of mosquito-net-doors to the balcony so that you can leave the door open and don't have to be afraid of the insects coming inside. - There are lots of mosquitos around because of the river and garden...

Location of the hotel is good, even though it is "on the other side of the river", from early morning 7am until midnight they have a shuttle boat moving around from the hotel to the BTS skytrain station of Saphan Taksin, which is a great place to start your journey through the city. Boat takes only around 15min to go there and leaves every 30minutes. On your way back, the boat staff is even giving fresh cold towels to the guests to clean & fresh up. Amazing simple thing but so welcomed gesture! In the evening, the boat is also stopping at the ASIATIQUE, an area with restaurants, bars, shops,...bit over the normal Thai-price but worth at least stopping there one time for an hour or two.

Breakfast: We had breakfast booked in the hotel and we can only recommend you to do the same. This hotel breakfast is the best we have ever had and we have stayed in a lot of hotels worldwide. Alone the bakery-station is so yummi and I honestly did not know which break, roll, croissant, cake I shall take. They also have a fruit-station, cheese & sausages, sushi, indian corner, thai-food, French toast, pancakes, thin French-style crepes, juices, smoothies, joghurt, flakes and of course all kind of eggs/omelette. You can really just sit there for hours to enjoy this more than delicious range of food. Unfortunately our stomachs were full after too short time ;-)
Just to add, we loved to sit outside for breakfast, but unfortunately, our "friends" the mosquitos made us escape to the inside after only 5minutes and around 5 bites - the hotel cannot do anything about it, but if you are also easily affected by mosquitos you have to be careful, otherwise you will have some itching souvenirs for some time..

We did only take breakfast and High Tea/Snacks in the hotel/lounge, so we cannot judge the other outlets they have.

The gym of the hotel is open 24hours a day as we were informed during check-in, however, when we went there one night for a late workout, the light was half switched of and it was a bit hard to find towels and there was no water. Anyhow, there was a housekeeping staff outside the gym, so we asked him for water and he came back with two bottles a couple of minutes later. Great service! The gym is equipped quite well, new machines, they already have new-fashion things like kettle bells and there is a huge window wall for natural light (in case you go on day time ;-)). When we went the next day it was also manned, water & small towels were provided and the staff was always walking around...however, they did not communicate with the two of us - maybe as they did not want to disturb two females, who knows. But with the men using the gym I feel they were helpful...

The pool area is nice, surrounded by plants and some gecko-animals walking around. The main pool is around 3m deep so you have to be a swimmer to use it. But there is a small corner which is only maybe 1m deep. They also have an amazing Jacuzzi which you can stop & start by yourself (very eco-friendly!). Further, when we were sitting at the pool, the Spa-team walked around there, giving 5min complimentary back & neck massage to some of the guests as an advertisement of their services. Good idea! The pool only closes at 23.00hrs so if you are not coming back from town too late you can still have a nice swim in there.

On arrival, we had requested for a late-checkout as we had to be in the airport only by 22.30hrs in the evening. However, as the suite was already booked for the next night, they could only allow us to stay in the suite until 13.00hrs (normal checkout time is 12.00hrs). It was ok, as we could put our luggage in the luggage room and were allowed to use all the hotel facilities and benefits until leaving (including the Kasara Lounge). The gym has lockers & good showers so it was ok to fresh up there after a relaxing day at the pool before heading to the airport.

We had booked a metered taxi with the help of Kasara Lounge to the airport, but when we went to take the taxi, the driver tried to give us a fixed price which we refused. Eventually, we convinced him to use his taxi meter and we took the high way to the airport for 290Baht plus around 75Baht or something for the toll gates on the way.

Service: All the staff was mega-friendly, smiling, helpful. I had informed the residence manager that the reason for staying in Anantara is my sisters graduation so they surprised her with a strawberry cake and a sweet handwritten congratulation card one night in our suite. Such small things make the guests smile and will definitely belong to their memories of their stay & lead to booking Anantara again ;-)

Construction: Only the south wing is open at the moment, the rest of the property is under maintenance. However, with our suite facing the river/garden, we did not feel disturbed by any work. Might be different if your room is located somewhere else.

To sum up, we wish to come again to The Riverside as soon as possible! We can only recommend you to book this little paradise in the big city of BKK. We are sure that you won't regret it. And don't forget the advise to book Kasara, they pamper you so well :-)

Thank you to the entire Anantara-team for this unforgettable stay with you! We had an amazing time!

Room Tip: Away from the ongoing construction, river view

The hotel is beautiful as can be and staff is professional and friendly. Overall I like it very much!

The good points are many: Super comfy bed, lovely pool, lots of sun beds, good breakfast, lovely bakery, dance performance by the pool in the afternoon, tasty evening buffet, practical shuttle boat to the sky train and to Asiatic Riverside (for evening shopping).

One small bad point: This kind of resort makes you feel like you are away from the rest of the city: the "thainess" is a bit gone. No Thai tourists as far as we noticed, prices for drinks / snacks by the pool are like in Europe and even Thai staff greets you in English. Of course they do this to be polite, but it makes you feel you could be anywhere in the world. A pity, as otherwise it is a little bit of paradise.

We stayed at the Anantara for our honeymoon and just loved it. We had booked an airport transfer. It was great to sit back and relax in the limo after such a long flight.med by Mr Vincent who was so kind to do a checkin in the room with us and told us that he upgraded our room for the joyous event. The room was wonderful, great bathroom and bathtub, nice soap and the room was nicely decorated. The cleaning staff does a great job too! The hotel is relaxing, has a great tropical garden and a lovely pool. Breakfast was very good and had a wide range of things to choose from. Ranging from Dim Sum to pancakes. They were renovating the north wing but we did not notice a thing to be honest! To go to Bangkok center and all the touristic sights is easy. Just take the hotel shuttle to the pier and continue there with any form of public transport. Since taxis are so cheap you can also easily come back by taxi. To sum it up> we definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a relaxing stay in Bangkok while being able to visit all the sites in Bangkok. And again, very friendly staff and very discrete and friendly.

Room Tip: Book a riverside room, great views and just that little extra
