A lovely hotel, if slightly too small a bedroom and overkill on the bowing by all staff. Brilliant bed. Good breakfast and excellent service. Shame the concierge was obsessed with sex shows!

Room Tip: It's a tall hotel and a tad scary relying on lifts only for the 33rd floor

Dear “BadgerFoot”,

Thank you for writing such a fantastic review of our hotel, your explanation made it clear to see how much you enjoyed our hotel. I was very pleased to read that you enjoyed the brilliant bed, good breakfast and excellent service. Please be assured that we will share your comments with our staff who will be very proud. Our guest’s complete satisfaction is our main goal at Amari Watergate Bangkok and it is rewarding to learn this has been achieved on this occasion.

We have also noted your comments regarding the shows which are promoted by the limousine counter which is run by a outsourced company. However, we have already briefed them not to promote any shows to our guest.

Thank you again for posting your experience here on tripadvisor. I do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Kind regards,

Sunish

I came here for a conference and I was impressed. I didn't dine at the restaurants except for breakfast but the breakfast was decent. The location is great for shopping - there is a market surrounding the hotel, as well as lots of wholesale and regular shopping malls. It is a little bit of a walk to the sky train (15-20 minutes) but it's not too bad.

The service was excellent, the meeting facilities were amazing, the rooms were clean. No complaints!

Staff - polite, professional and very approachable. Option of being able to exhange money or just to get smaller notes is useful.

Price - Reasonable, I paid roughly $100 AUD per night with breakfast included.

Room - 10th Floor, non smoking with a queen size bed. Very big and comfortable. I'm unsure if the whole floor was non smoking. I could smell smoke in my room and was very annoyed by it. The bathroom was slightly mouldy but on the most part very clean. The two bottles of free water each day was appreciated. The floor and the room was very quite.

Internet - Free access for 1 hour each day with ability for free printing.

Food - Breakfast on the Promenade was good, a great environment and a variety of food. Macca's is accross the road. I also tried Henry J. Bean's Bar & Grill, during happy hour and got my second drink for free. It hit the spot for some western food.

Spa - Was lovely, the ladies looked after me well but as you can imagine it was a bit pricey.

Location - Not ideal. For a first time traveller to Bangkok and Asia in general, when I walked out of the beautiful hotel onto the street I found it very chaotic and overwhelming.

How to get there - I took the express train from the airport to Phaya Thai Station for 80 Baht. From there I walked out to the main street and hailed a taxi (look for the light switched on in the front window on the passenger side - if it's off the taxi is not available). The fare for the taxi was approximately 40 Baht and the ride was only about 2 minutes. Be sure to insist all taxi drivers use their meters otherwise get out.

All in all this is a great hotel, room service botched a few things but nothing major. I completed an on line survey from the hotel and for the few mishaps experienced the hotel offered me an upgrade on my next visit. I don't know if I'll ever be back but it was a nice offer. Would I recommend this to family and friends, yes but as a second choice based on location.

Beware - Do not take a tuk tuk if the driver offers you a cheap price for a tour. He will start to take you to places you hadn't agreed on and will ask you to do him a favor so he can get free fuel. If anyone mentions a temple called Lucky Buddha, it's a gem scam. Run away as fast a you can.

We have recently returned from a buying trip in Bangkok. Our stay at the Amari was a welcome relief at the end of some VERY long and dirty days. The rooms are clean, spacious and pleasant with very comfortable beds and good bathrooms. The restaurant on the fourth floor offers lovely thai food ( and I believe european - although we didn't try the european menu) and the buffet breakfast is lovely! Worth buying the meal package that offers breakfast and a happy hour in the evening on the executive floor - which gives you free drinks and canapes for 2 hours at the end of the day. (Cost for this was about $50 per day!)
The hotel is located next to Platinum Mall and Pratunam markets, which suited us, and is within easy walking distance of Siam Centre and MBK (about a 15 minute walk - the walk can be taken through quite a few air conditioned malls, and is generally quicker than trying a tuk tuk)
The service at the hotel was excellent!!!!! Will definitely stay here again

Room Tip: For a small extra cost we booked the grand deluxe room. When we purchased the breakfast and drinks...
