Reviewed 28 April 2014

We stayed 5 nights in April in an executive suite and as always the room was the best.the staff is what makes the Amari your first choice when in bangkok.always the best food best service .if you require a great massage then a trip to the best spa treatments is on the 8th floor.the location is great , right in the middle of the markets and short cab ride to MBK and the Paragon shopping centre.once again a great stay
Thanks guys

Room Tip: Suite on the executive floor

Dear maplepools,
Thank you for your lovely words, I am very pleased that you have enjoyed your stay in our property. And I am even more delighted to know that you are keen on the Tom Yum soup which is one of my personal top favorite soups at our Thai on4 restaurant and do hope during your upcoming visit that you will have a chance to try our tasty papaya salad.
Kind regards,
Nina

We reached here as continuation of our tour from Phuket. This hotel offers all that was missed. Great location, lots of shopping malls and streets. Great variety of food options and very prompt and swift service. The rooms are decent with a good view, the ones facing the platinum mall have the best view. The pool is decent, being on the 8th floor it provides a nice view especially in the evening. The breakfast spread is awesome, it has every taste and cuisine to offer.
For those enthusiasts who want to navigate the city in local transports, I believe this location is ideally suited. For me to explore a place only cabs and tuk tuks will never be enough. There is a rail line nearby, and with the frequent bus and water transport links, this hotel made my excursions a charm.

We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon and everyone working at the hotel made our stay memorable. On our first night we were treated with champagne, a special honeymoon cake and a song by the waiter. This set the tone for the remainder of our stay. All staff members were very friendly, eager to please and extremely helpful. We stayed in a Deluxe room, which was spacious and had all the basic necessities. The hotel is center to all the sites and attractions.

If you have read any other of my hotel reviews, you will know it takes a lot for me to give 5 stars. This hotel has it all.

The location across the street from Platinum mall, in the middle of so many discount shopping centers and day/night markets is tough to beat if you're here for that type of shopping. It's surrounded by street food and a host of other cheap food outlets as well as housing some great restaurants within it's confines. The only very slightly negative thing about it's location would be the distance to the BTS. I like to walk, but if you don't like a 10 minute walk through overcrowded and tight walkways in the blistering humidity of Bangkok, you may want another location.

First, the room. It's quite large and the bed is amazing. We were upgraded to a deluxe room on the 31st floor, so I'm not sure how much better if any, it was compared to a standard room. Plenty of space and the bathroom had a big tub and a walk in shower. The view was amazing.

The pool was very nice and the water was just the right temperature. Not to warm and not too cold. I'm sure Goldilocks would have been happy.

The gym was the best hotel gym I have ever seen! They had more treadmills and cardio machine lined up than I could believe. They had 3 olympic style benches. Flat, incline and decline. Dumbells for real weightlifting, unlike many hotels that stop at 25 or 30 lbs. So many weight machines and exercise stations. It was like a real gym! I would have paid an annual fee to work out there. They also had 4 or 5 squash/handball/raquetball courts. The spa was equally equipped.

The lobby was cavernous and well decorated as you would expect and service was fast and efficient. Lots of area to relax and decompress. There were 3 retaurant that we tried there and all were fantastic. Henry J Beans (i think that's the name) was a pub styled bar and grill that served up traditional pub fare and steaks. Our dinner consisted of fried stuffed Potato skins, 2 Beef Tenderloins and a few Margaritas all of which were served quickly and tasted great. The cafe out front (don't remember the name) was equally pleasant with some elaborately dressed Thai style entertainment and a good menu with quality food. They also had a DJ outside. We opted for the breakfast buffet and it was one of the best we've had in Bangkok. It had all of the normal fare and included some Sushi, beef, pork, chicken entree's and many other Thai and international choices. It was well organized. It was a bit steep compared to some of the other breakast venues in hotels, but it did offer so much more. It was really nice, but I would recommend paying for the hotel room without breakfast and just getting the breakfast buffet on days you're famished. It's too much to eat if you want something simple and quick. We could have spent an hour enjoying breakfast there.

The rate for this hotel when we paid was $83 a night. Considering that most of the other decent hotels in this area start at $55 to $65 and the Novotel is more expensive, as is the Centara at Central world, you will not find a better hotel for the price. Sure, the Intercontinental is equal and maybe just a touch nicer, but it's $180 per night, which is more than double the price. Pay the extra $15 to $20 bucks a night and stay here. You'll be so much happier. I've stayed at all the surrounding hotels and none of them compare when you think about what you get for what you pay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the platinum mall side have great views of BKK.
