“Great Hotel, great location....but no table tennis at the pool area please”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

This hotel and their staff are fantastic, the rooms are a very good size, the location of the hotel is great with so much to do around it and not far from other major spots, the cost is very reasonable as well. The café on the decking out the front was great particularly at night whilst having a meal and a few drinks. The gym is excellent and has personal trainers who give good advice, the pool and garden area is also very nice and relaxing.
The only issue that I have with this hotel is their decision to place a table tennis table right next to all of your guests who are trying to relax or read a book whilst enjoying the peace and quiet of a beautiful pool and garden area during the afternoon... unfortunately the very loud yelling and the constant ping and pong from the same group of very enthusiastic middle aged men playing made me jump many times and it was very annoying not only for me but many of the other guests who were also trying to relax. My advice to management would be to put the table tennis table permanently in the squash court where it can be played as much as they like without disturbing everyone else within the pool complex.

Room Tip: It was very noisy at the pool during the afternoon due to a very loud group of men playing table ten...

Very good hotel. Would recommend. Warm staff and good food. The hotel is in the heart of Bangkok and shopping becomes very easy. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and good value for money. The variety of buffet breakfast also was great with Indian, Thai. Continental and American. The rooms were clean and the hotel was very nice. Had a great pool too. Stayed there last week for 2 nights.

On the other hand Amari palm at Koh Samui had been a terrible experience. This is exactly the opposite of the watergate in service And the most horrible front desk you can ever meet. I would never recommend anyone to stay here.

It's strange under the same umbrella these two hotels are poles apart.

This is a high class hotel and lives up to its reputation. Like so many hotels they try to push up their earrings by charging over the top prices in their bars and restaurants. I don't think you could find a hotel that was more central.

Booked this room for my wife, friend, and me for 7 nights. My travel agent (and travel voucher) clearly stated 3 adults, with the assumption that we would get 2 double beds. NOPE! We were offered 2 twin beds and a rollaway which would never comfortably fit in the room unless we walked over the beds to get in and out of the room. In fact, the receptionist told us that she wouldn't stay in such accommodations prior to up selling us a suite. Why would a hotel offer something that they don't recommend? Before you say that's the way things are in Asia, I'll tell you right now that I've traveled extensively in SE Asia and that's not the case. A room booked for 3 people allows for 3 people. So we opted to upgrade our room for a considerable fee to a 72 square meter suite and told that they had a sleeper couch. NOPE! The "couch" was the chaise by one of the windows that they put some bedding on.

Beautiful executive lounge with great views. Good breakfast. Excellent location. Would stay here with 2 people, but in our situation, never again. A big thumbs down to management for misrepresenting this place as able to accommodate 3 guests.

Room Tip: Do not book for over 2 people per room. They allow it but "do not recommend it" upon arriv...

We booked this hotel as it was suggested to us by our trip planner. We arrived at the hotel at 2:30pm and when checking in, we were told our rooms were not ready and we will have to wait for 45 mins and were asked to wait in lobby or come back after having our lunch. The hotel rooms was on 20th floor and was a decent room with city view. For all those people who come to bangkok for shopping, platinum mall and Big C is right across the road and Indra market right behind. There are lot of eating options on every side right from McD, KFC, Indian food near Baiyoke tower. The hotel buffet breakfast was very nice and had various Indian and world cuisines in their menu. There american fried rice was very nice. All in all a very good hotel to stay from shopping perspective, if you do not wish to travel the distance after shopping. Recommended for staying.

Though this hotel boasts of being a 5*, but the customer service levels are terrible, not desirable of being in such a category hotel. I had booked my family for 3 nights during my holiday visit in BKK. The check-in process took almost 30 minutes and all our request placed to hotel were not taken care of. Being couples, we were offered twin beds though requested before for a double bed. After waiting for almost 45 mins, we were offered a room, and to our surprise, when we entered the room, it was still a twin bed room and was not even ready. It was still being cleaned & the check-in staff had sent us to the room. We complained again to the duty manager, tried to reach GM-Service (he was unavailable), but the duty manager upgraded one room to executive floor. However, again to our service, though the room was upgraded, however, we were told that since its an upgraded room, we were not authorize to us the executive lounge. This to me is really strange and my feedback to the hotel is improve its service levels upto certain standards at par with our international hotel chains. In service industry, the hotel staff need tp be courteous. Specially, in BKK, there are various options available, i would not recommend a stay based on my experience.

A hotel with 5 stars amenities. Stayed there for four nights. Twin room which we occupied, was clean and spacious and can easily accommodate another bed. 3 bottles of complimentary drinking water per day were provided. Wifi in the room was also complimentary. Good spread for buffet breakfast and lunch – there is even an Indian station and an Arabian station. Had dinner at their Thai Restaurant and the fine dining there was pretty good. Go to the lounge on the ground floor in the evenings and you will be able to listen to some lovely music played by two Thai lady musicians in traditional costumes playing on their traditional string instruments. Staff is friendly and understands English even at the concierge. The hotel is right at the heart of the shopping paradise for low to medium quality goods; walk across the road and you will come to Platinum Fashion Mall where there are literally hundreds of small stalls selling ladies, men and children clothes and accessories. The food court at the top floor of the Mall is worth a visit. If this Mall is not enough, just go behind the hotel and you will find the Pratunam Market and the Indra Square where there is a host of street stalls for your shopping delight.
