“Great hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2011

Stayed 3 nights and had a very good experience with this hotel. We have booked one of the packages, The Indulgence Getaway Package, including 3 nights in a Riverview Suite with breakfast, roundtrip airport transfer, early check in (or late check out), set dinner at Cafe Mozu, daily Sky Bar vouchers (2 free drinks per day) and daily all-day Sky train tickets.

We arrived at the hotel at 6 a.m. and we were immediately upgraded from 25th to 58th floor with a much better view. Good start.

The room was great, very spacious with sitting area, great bathroom, kitchen (with complimentary Nespresso coffee machine, huge bed and an amazing view. WiFi was free, but very bad. Most of the time we had no connection. The pool was under maintenance during our entire stay.

Breakfast was really great and the service was perfect. Sky Bar was also nice, but too crowded. Thank god for our Sky Bar vouchers (2 free drinks per day), since drinks were way overpriced.

At check out the hotel has billed us for airport transfer (app. 100 USD), but this service was included in our package. An honest mistake or deliberate? I don't know, but the hotel should know what is included in their packages.

We paid 737 USD for this package. Was it worth it? No. We had a great stay, but will try another hotel if we return to Bangkok.

We had our room upgraded so we lived on the 53rd floor. The views are fantastic, aspecially at night. The suite was huge - two rooms and even a kitchen! Breakfasts were also extremely good. The sirocco restaurant is a "must have" experience - it is very expensive but where else can you have dinner on a rooftop of a 64 floor building? If we go back to Bangkok we will definitely stay at Lebua.

Room Tip: Riverside rooms have nice views

We recently stayed two nights over the weekend, and it disappointed from the start. Booked online, so the price was about half of what they had listed at the check in desk. Took the staff 15m to check us in, not up to standard of a supposed 5 star hotel. Lobby and everything was fancy and clean, but the suite wasn't any fancier than an upmarket chain hotel in the US.
The rooftop bar could be cool, but it isn't. They try too hard to make it an upscale experience and completely ruin it. The moment you get off the elevator, hostesses start telling you where you can't stand and every time you touch your camera they tell you to stop taking photos and to go down near the bar to do it. For $15-$25 per drink, we should be able to stand where we want and take photos.

This leads me to their bar, ordered an old fashioned off their cocktail menu, not much bourbon and the glass was only half-full. Sent it back and they topped it off with bourbon, but for 500 baht, that shouldn't have been necessary. The bar was crowded, but completely boring as drinks were too expensive for anyone to have any fun.

This was our first stop on our Honeymoon and we found the Hotel to be utter luxury! We were upgraded to a suite and from the moment we arrived our every need was taken care of. The staff were efficient and pleasant. The Room and general areas were clean and well maintained. We enjoyed being able to use the Tower club lounge to get a drink and a snack. The Mojitos that I had here were the best I have tasted in my life!
We had some drinks at The Sky bar one evening and it was an experience to remember. The cocktails are expensive but they are so strong that you really cannot drink that many anyway. After just 2 I was almost on the floor!
The only disappointment for us was how long it took to arrange having some clothes we left behind sent on to us. It took 4 days of emailing back and forth in order to arrange having our things sent on to Koh Samui and then we were charged almost 3 times the actual postage cost. I wouldn't expect this from a 5 star Hotel.

We stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon and loved it. Highlights:

- Breakfast buffet is very tasty
- River view suite is well worth the upgrade (we got it for free since it was the off season, but I would have paid more for it) -- fantastic view
- Luxurious feeling suite (huge bathroom, large room, etc.)
- Food throughout the hotel is decent but overpriced
- Sky bar was a nice experience, although the view from our room was almost as good and private. We went because they gave us vouchers for free drinks - a nice touch.
- Location OK, not the best though.
- The concierge tried to get us to buy some expensive river cruise to get to the Grand Palace, when we just wanted to take the cheap river taxi there. This was kind of annoying. The nearby dock also seems to be exclusively associated with another expensive river cruise. It took us a while to figure out how to find and take the regular cheap boat.

Room Tip: the hotel runs discounts on their website and through jetsetter.com, check frequently for free upgra...

We booked a suite in Lebua at State Tower for 2 days, while coming back from Tokyo. The room was huge with all the facilities. There was big Gym with shower on a higher floor (I think 47th?). Overall experience was excellent.

I'm staying at the hotel right now. My first time. My friend, an American with family in Thailand, was trying to show us how amazingly beautiful the 64th floor bar was. Unfortunately, he was in slippers. The lady guarding the elevators told us about the dress code - no open toes for men. Fair enough. We respect the hotel policy but we wanted to see the bar and have a drink there and tried to find the right shoes for him. He even tried on my wife's shoes because he really wanted to show us how beautiful the bar was. I didn't know about the shoe code and we really didn't have the right shoes, so I asked the door lady if she could help us find a pair or work out something. She wasn't at all helpful. In fact, all she could do was tell us how wrong his shoes were, how she cannot let us in and she did so very rudely too. In front of our wives and children. She argued with my friend in a loud tone while other guests were around and then told him to leave. This is not 5-star service. In fact, it's extremely embarrassing to me and highly unprofessional. Shouldn't a hotel find ways to make their guests feel welcome? Couldn't she find or borrow a pair of shoes to help us out? And not that it should matter, but the man she was rude to is an advisor to the mayor of a major US city. And all he was trying to do was to show off the hotel to us. I've never had any other 5-star hotel pull something like this. Ever. It has marred our initial good impression of the hotel for good.
