“Welcome to Hotel Schizophrenia!”
Reviewed 13 January 2012

This hotel has ruined itself for the almighty Baht! It used to be a classy 4-5 star hotel but not anymore. The rooms are adequate, if not over priced, but the restaurants and lounges have turned into trashy theme park-style joints; grubby backpacker clomping around the roof top bars buying $10 drinks get the same indifferent service as customers paying hundreds of dollars for a room and dinner.

And talk about threadbare-- the common areas-- are filthy. The carpets look like they have NEVER been cleaned.

To make matters worse they have all these unpublished rules inforced by gestapo staff-- i.e. no open-toed shoes here, no photos there, shorts okay bar on rooftop bar, but not okay in coffee shop, okay to take pictures while drunk at the rooftop bar, not okay to take on the steps leading to restaurant-- it's just all ridiculously schizophrenic. At these prices you deserve alot better. Would you really want to stay where they filmed "Hangover II-- Bangkok" the Movie? DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

Room Tip: Choose a good room by staying someplace else.

We asked for a higher room and got one with fantastic views on the 54th floor. The rooms themselves are big with a kitchen area, which is kept well stocked in teas and coffee. The breakfast is extensive and in lovely setting if you're seated by the pool. The sky bar on the roof is a tad exsensive, but well worth it for the views. Although it does get very crowded.
On the last night we had we pushed the boat out and ate in the Breeze restaurant (about £125 with one drink each). The food, service and setting could not be faulted.
The hotel is in a great position. A 15 minute walk to Patpong, which is a must visit, and a 10 minute walk to the sky train and river transport (which is really cheap).
Tip. We went Dec/Jan so went to skybar right on opening at 6pm so we could watch sunset.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor river view.

We booked ourselves in for a one night "treat" after back-packing in Koh Samui, and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite on level 51. We were absolutely delighted with the accomodation; spacious, airy, well laid-out and with all the extras you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The Lebua and it's staff work hard to keep the 5 star feeling going - the breakfast buffet was excellent, the pool huge and the staff very helpful. (That said, the pool stays shaded after 10am or so, so if you are planning on sunbathing, get down early.)

The highlight for me was at the top - up under the Dome they have several restaurants and bars with amazing open-air views of Bangkok, absolutely a must-see while you are there even if you just plan to have a quick glass of water. The Sky Bar does delicious cocktails, and if you only have time for a quick stop that is the one I would recommend seeing. Parts of "The Hangover 2" were shot at the hotel (in the rooftop bar) and they have a drink called a Hangovertini at the Sky Bar, which is worth trying. (Cocktails cost about 15-20USD, wine is pretty expensive, but the couple of vodka and sodas I had after were reasonably priced compared to the wines.)

Room Tip: We arrived late (after 8pm) and were upgraded. I also noticed most of the other people who arrived a...

I stayed here with my family (incl 2 young kids) and we absolutely loved this hotel.
What we liked:
1. The views from balcony are simply amazing.
2. Good size suites which were reasonably furnished.
3. For a hotel of this size, their check in, check out is very efficient. Same goes for Concierge, Bell Desk, Taxi services etc.
4. Bathrooms were good size and amply furnished with upscale toiletries.

What we didn't like:
1. Balcony wasn't locked ever. This is when we had advised them not to keep our balcony open as we had young kids with us.
2. Rooms look a little tired. Need sprucing up and fresh decor.
3. We were told that kids will eat complimentary at check in. Although, at time of check out, we found charges of kids breakfast in the bill which the hotel claimed that was the original deal. This was not appreciated. It wasn't about the amount but the fact that we were told by a hotel staff that kids will east free for sure.
4. The elevators take ages to come.
5. In room dining is a bit expensive.

What we loved:
1. Excellent service through out: be it check in, check out, breakfast services, Sirocco, Dome etc etc. Loved the service....Absolutely professional and personalized. Be it getting us vegetarian food at breakfast table, arranging for a table at The Dome which was just next to impossible (Thanks Sebastian : The F&B mgr for this great help), on time room service with lovely indian food, catering to kids' needs etc.
2. Loved the experience at Dome. Absolutely fantastic. Must visit if you want to have a good cocktail while looking at stunning views of Bkk.

Will definitely come back and stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay as high as possible because the views are worth it.

Room are great and big enough but it could be better if the old tv replaced with LCD tv. Love their hospitality and friendliness though.
Having business trip in Bangkok and meeting in the hotel. One drawback is the meeting room is not really a private meeting room. The room was just separated with few divider. We was disappointed of this, otherwise, it would be great!
