The hotel itself is just ok, not luxurious or anything. I got a good deal on Gilt, so was not overpaying. I chose this hotel for the river view from the balcony, and was not disappointed.

The hotel itself was great value. We paid on $150/night for a riverside view room which was huge with a great view. The staff were fantastic, the location was great as the was the breakfast.

My only complaint is that the restaurants are ridiculouly overpriced. We had dinner at Sirroco and paid $360 for a below-average meal and a bottle of wine. Yes, the view was great, but definately not worth the price. The staff also wouldn't let us take a photo from the stairs when we were leaving, and make a bit of a fuss when we took them from our table! Pop upstairs for a drink at the bar, but do not waste your money eating there.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more for a riverside view.

We had a room on the 53rd floor. Despite booking a king nonsmoking room, when we checked in the could only provide a room with two twin beds. The water temperature in the shower was bizarre and would shift between ice cold and hot, we lived with it but for a 5 star not great.

We did go up to the top for a drink but the bars were packed. Finally had drinks on the 52 floor bar Breezes. Very nice but expensive (drinks start at about 500 baht plus tax and service fee). I wouldnot recommend eating up there. Was very expensive and the bars are located in the midst of the tables, so while trying to enjoy your 5000 baht meal you will be feet away from the crowd at the bar.

The positives include: fantastic room with great amenities, the staff all seem to know who you are and you are constantly being greeted, checkin and checkout were seamless, the breakfast buffet is beyond belief. Of coursr, the views are spectacular. Would recommend the riverview rooms. Finally, for us the location was great. On Silom and 10 minute walk to Skytrain and the river pier.

Room Tip: Don't bother with eating at the restaurants at the top.

Stunning top class hotel. Views and balconies to die for. Astounding service and quality. However, the restaraunts are REDICULOUSLY overpriced. So out of line with a reasonable cost that it is jaw dropping. However, there are numerous good little restaraunts just a short walk away along silom road. (The first Italian you come to on the corner is well worth a visit). Internet wifi reliable and free in the rooms. The free 'tower club' lounge is excellent in the daytime and the breakfast platter is extensive and varied. If only they priced their restaraunts sensibly and stopped the 'photo police' prohibiting snaps from the roof. I can't get my head around that one. Also, make sure they bring a reciept for everything you get on room service. They tend not to and the cost of some items is off the scale!!! Be warned!

This hotel has ruined itself for the almighty Baht! It used to be a classy 4-5 star hotel but not anymore. The rooms are adequate, if not over priced, but the restaurants and lounges have turned into trashy theme park-style joints; grubby backpacker clomping around the roof top bars buying $10 drinks get the same indifferent service as customers paying hundreds of dollars for a room and dinner.

And talk about threadbare-- the common areas-- are filthy. The carpets look like they have NEVER been cleaned.

To make matters worse they have all these unpublished rules inforced by gestapo staff-- i.e. no open-toed shoes here, no photos there, shorts okay bar on rooftop bar, but not okay in coffee shop, okay to take pictures while drunk at the rooftop bar, not okay to take on the steps leading to restaurant-- it's just all ridiculously schizophrenic. At these prices you deserve alot better. Would you really want to stay where they filmed "Hangover II-- Bangkok" the Movie? DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

Room Tip: Choose a good room by staying someplace else.

We asked for a higher room and got one with fantastic views on the 54th floor. The rooms themselves are big with a kitchen area, which is kept well stocked in teas and coffee. The breakfast is extensive and in lovely setting if you're seated by the pool. The sky bar on the roof is a tad exsensive, but well worth it for the views. Although it does get very crowded.
On the last night we had we pushed the boat out and ate in the Breeze restaurant (about £125 with one drink each). The food, service and setting could not be faulted.
The hotel is in a great position. A 15 minute walk to Patpong, which is a must visit, and a 10 minute walk to the sky train and river transport (which is really cheap).
Tip. We went Dec/Jan so went to skybar right on opening at 6pm so we could watch sunset.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor river view.

We booked ourselves in for a one night "treat" after back-packing in Koh Samui, and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite on level 51. We were absolutely delighted with the accomodation; spacious, airy, well laid-out and with all the extras you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The Lebua and it's staff work hard to keep the 5 star feeling going - the breakfast buffet was excellent, the pool huge and the staff very helpful. (That said, the pool stays shaded after 10am or so, so if you are planning on sunbathing, get down early.)

The highlight for me was at the top - up under the Dome they have several restaurants and bars with amazing open-air views of Bangkok, absolutely a must-see while you are there even if you just plan to have a quick glass of water. The Sky Bar does delicious cocktails, and if you only have time for a quick stop that is the one I would recommend seeing. Parts of "The Hangover 2" were shot at the hotel (in the rooftop bar) and they have a drink called a Hangovertini at the Sky Bar, which is worth trying. (Cocktails cost about 15-20USD, wine is pretty expensive, but the couple of vodka and sodas I had after were reasonably priced compared to the wines.)

Room Tip: We arrived late (after 8pm) and were upgraded. I also noticed most of the other people who arrived a...
