The 2 best reasons to stay here is the breakfast buffet and the view.
There is obviously a great view from the rooftop bar, being the 2nd highest building in the city, and also from the balconies of the rooms if you stay pretty high up in the building. We stayed on thirty something floor which was already amazing, and for us there was no need to pay an extra 100 USD for staying in the very top floors.

The hotels fine dining restaurant "Mezzaluna" was a good experience, but pretty expensive even for it's category - and even for Bangkok.
Yet the pool restaurant serves good and less pricy food, and they have a great Indian chef.

The breakfast buffet is fantastic - we have not found better in any other five star hotel in Bangkok or anywhere else. The bakery tastes like in European top bakeries, made with real butter etc.
And there are food sections from all over the world so you can try something new even if you stay for quite a few days.

The rooms are very spacious with big bathrooms and all you need of comfort, yet a little old fashioned and could need some newer design and interior update. But all in all, the rooms provide very good value for money.

The location is good for exploring the temples and palaces along the river. And for shopping antiques - yet we find that Sukhumvit is better for other shopping as the modern malls are located there.

If you want to have a superior room with a spectacular view you should choose this hotel.
Very high standard and the size of the rooms are extreme!
When entering the room you have a smaller room with a sofa and TV. Perfect for having your friends waiting while you dress.
In the middle a small kitchen and the bathroom. And then the bedroom... You can actually have your tango in the room without bouncing into any furniture!

The breakfast is fantastic and you have anything you possibly could wish for to choose from.
The pool is nice and the gym likewise.

The service is perfect and you will be so happy if you stay here.

There is a reason this hotel was the location for the Hollywood box office big hitter 'Hangover 2'. The location once you get to floor 64 defies gravity and delivers a panoramic view to die for.

If you come here you absolutely have to get yourself a cocktail in the Sky Bar: yes it's pricey (£11-15); yes it's going to be busy; and yes it's packed with people that you might think a bit 'weird'.... But oh my, what a view from what has to be one of the coolest bars in the world.

Rooms and service are pretty much what you would expect from a five star hotel.... And you can get an amazing bargain if you buy an upgrade on arrival. Bookings in Bangkok are down around 30% at the moment so there are some bargains to be had!! For $75 we upgraded to the executive floor (free bar and lunch) and had a suite thrown in for good measure.

Breakfast is world class with a huge selection.

Three quick tips:-

1) Airport transfers are far cheaper on the metered taxis (rather than hotel) though you need to make sure that the meter is switched on! Ask the concierge to sort one out for you.

2) There is a spa opposite the hotel that does fantastic massages.

3) The tower club closes at 6pm - so if you have access which gives you the free drink and nibbles makes sure you take advantage before it closes!

I stayed 3 nights with my friend for celebrating my birthday. Suite room was huge, nice decor , very clean. The breakfast was lovely with many options. Staff was friendly and helpful. We paid much higher cost for great river view room , but it was not close and lovely view as we thought. The room was not so quiet because we heard noisy from outside and street even though we stay at 21 floor. The location was so so, it was great if you take taxi from hotel( under staff's help) but always much overcharged if you take taxi by yourself for the way back. Should get relaxing with sauna and swimming, sunbath at noon!

Room Tip: not necessary to book a suite room if you focus more time sightseeing in city and check hotel loca...

Stayed here just one night unfortunately with my boyfriend and l did not want to leave! From the moment we were checked in and shown to our room on the 59th floor our stay was brilliant. The view from the room was stunning, just amazing. I couldn't stop taking photos. The suite was spacious, clean and everything we wanted. We had access to the club lounge and went up there about 3pm. Although we were told it was smart causal, my boyfriend was politely asked to change from his shorts (they were tailored shorts) into long trousers so they take this quite seriously. We sat down and immediately our chairs pulled out for us, plates of sandwiches and scones placed in front of us as well as a drink menu. It was so nice to have a decent glass of wine, and cocktails were available too, as well as a buffet, all complimentary. At about 5.30, we were told the bar downstairs (outside) was open and our drinks were taken down there for us. Just before 6pm, we were asked if we wanted anything before the complimentary drinks ended. My boyfriend stayed and had a couple whilst l got changed and we headed to the sky bar. The sky bar was, in my opinion, totally over rated, a load of people crammed into one tiny area with no seating.
We went back down to the outside bar at the club lounge where they served the same drinks and the staff were friendly, explaining drinks and offering to take pictures. If we went to the toilets, we were shown the way each time by a member of staff with a torch, gesturing towards the steps so we wouldn't stumble.
We did ask about about extending our checkout as we didn't need to get our train until 7pm. They offered it complimentary until 2pm or 3,000 baht til 4pm. We got room service that night and although a mistake was made, was quickly rectified and only one item charged to us which was a very generous gesture.
Breakfast was abundant and efficient. We went for a morning swim and back to the lounge until we had to leave.
I'm not sure if we were just lucky, but at no point did we have to wait anymore than a minute for a lift or see any queues.
Ive already recommended this hotel to friends and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bangkok personally.

What a better venue to celebrate our 54 happy years together.
This is our second time in Bangkok and second experience in this fantastic and well known five star restaurant and bar not far away from our hotel the SHANGRI-LA
Words are not enough to talk about scenery from this restaurant positioned on the 62nd floor of this highly visited Tower just to experience Bangkok in his glory at night time.We were really privileged i suppose because of the occasion to be placed i think it was the best table for that night.Service the friendliest as far as i am concern, food superb and as a finale as part of the service a beautiful and delicious little chocolate cake.WHAT A NIGHT i hope will be a third time.

Room Tip: we did not stay at the hotel was only the LeBua restaurant
