The valet / chauffeur area is a bit cramped and puts doubt upon arrival as usually hotels of this standard have grand entrances. Lebua's is down the left-hand side of the building, but still shows good presentation. The main entrance is to the nearly empty plaza / shopping arcade, but also has access to the main lobby too. Whichever entrance you use, once inside you soon know you are in a fancy hotel.

The only small fault occurred during the check-in procedure, actually it was the wait prior to check-in. I had been roughing it in Kanchanaburi province and was quite worn out and after the frustrating drive through Bangkok at peak hour I just wanted to shower and relax. The whole affair took about 30 minutes, however there were plenty of comfortable chairs, staff on hand for drinks (live piano music) and when check-in occurred it was all done right where I was sitting - no need to move until ready to be escorted to my suite.

I had a room on the 28th floor with a seperate living room area, large bathroom, small kitchen area, bedroom and a balcony (a form must be signed to comply with the conditions while using the balcony - if not it remains locked.). The whole room was magnificent, very clean, well equipped (with modern amenities), very spacious and extremely comfortable and livable for the next 4 days. Both the bedroom and living room had seperate TV's and dual air-conditioning controls, and the bedroom had a divider to close off the other sections while sleeping.

The balcony wasn't huge, nor was it tiny - suitable for about 4 persons, with stunning views of the river and Bangkok. (On Valentine's Day there was a fireworks display and the view from either the bedroom or balcony was stunning.)

The kitchen area was located between the living and sleeping area, modest but well equipped (microwave, hot plates, utensils, pans etc.) and sufficient to cook modest meals or reheat dinners. Everything was very clean, dare say spotless.

The living room was modestly equipped with a 2 seater, 2 chairs, large padded bench seat (recessed into the wall), a coffee table and another table, and a TV (with cabinet). Comfortable with enough space to move and live.

The bathroom was large, bright, very functional and extremely clean with all the usual amenities and equipment.

The bedroom had a very comfortable bed with bedside tables and controls, a desk with chair, TV and cabinet (with DVD player) and a luggage rack. Leaving plenty of room to move and spread out.

Unfortunately, I didn't pack the required attire to experience the restaurants located at the dome on top of the hotel (+60 floors), which was a little disappointing. I did however utilise room service. There were a multitude of choices of varying cuisines, and every dish I ordered was delicious, arrived promptly, and served professionally upon arrival (trolley with warming compartments, table top, fully set). However, expect to pay a premium in comparison to dinning externally outside of the hotel. Breakfast was a buffet style with an outside (near pool) smoking section and an air-conditioned indoor non-smoking section. Choices of hot and cold, western and asian were varied and of a good quality. First time I've seen this, the bacon is pre-cooked and then reheated on a hot plate when required.

Overall, a fantastic stay with an excellent room (and views), great food, exceptional housemaids and professional / polite staff. I will try other hotels of the same quality when I revisit Bangkok, but this will take some matching, yet alone beating. A definite recommendation to stay at this hotel, if within the budget.

this hotel claims to be 5 stars, but I guess it's a bit too much...it's classy and comfortable, but the rich breakfast is not that high quality...swimming cold and bed around swimming pool too few, which makes you queue all the time...you have to queue for the breakfast too...
rooms are very big and beautiful...ask for a high floor!

We paid around £110 for one night at the Lebua, which is very expensive by Thailand standards but it is breathtakingly stunning.

The staff are amazingly curteous, helpful and polite. They are also everywhere - every floor seemed to have someone ready to call the lift for you, tell you which door to go through, or simply greet you with a sawasdee.

Firstly the room - absolutely massive. The bathroom was fantastic, the quality of the furnishings throughout the suite was top notch, the balcony was amazing.

There is a small bar by the pool and of course Skybar on the very top floor, plus a few others.

One word of warning.... it is expensive!

Two local beers at the pool totalled 740B (£14) and two cocktails at Skybar were 1100B (£22)!! We expected this... hence we only booked in for one night!

If you want to splash out, even for just the one night as we did, it is well worth it.

During the Bangkok riots I initially stayed at the Dream Hotel. The Dream is wonderful but was a little too close to the "action". I moved to Lebua and it was simply amazing. I can go on and on about the facilities, staff, room, view, etc but to sum it up: I loved it. I had a huge suite with a balcony and unbelievable view.

Constructive criticism: I'm pulling hairs here but it may need a minor upgrade here and there in the common areas (the gym specifically).

Overall, awesome place if you can afford it.

Travelling for business 39 years now, I have seen many good Hotels in the World, but the LEBUA AT STATE TOWER is simply the best. From the overwhelmingly friendly and effecient staff (ALL STAFF MEMBERS) to the perfectly and big rooms, the phantastic view and a breakfast that is extraordinary.....can only highly recommend this Hotel. I stayed now already 5 times alone on business and 1 time with the family, always looking forward to come back.

We stayed at Lebua on the first leg of our honeymoon. The hotel delivered with large spacious rooms, very attentive staff and a full set of amenities.

Pros: incredible buffet breakfast, nice/ helpful staff, big rooms, great location (near Skytrain and river express boats), nice balconies, sizeable pool

Cons: rooms are a little sterile, beds are hard (typical for Thailand), building’s lobby/ground floor (not the hotel’s lobby) is dark and depressing, rooftop dining/drinking options are way overpriced (two drinks = $50)

This was our 4th stay in Lebua at State tower.
We were always automaticaly upgraded to the towers, this time they gave us a room on the 21th floor, because on sight there are only a few differences, such as different amenities, no free wi-fi,no free mini-bar.....we didn't mind. We were very tired from the long flight and thinking only about the good bed, how wrong we were.....we couldn't sleep at all ! The noice of the traffic on that level is unbearable. The next morning we complained at the reception, the problem was solved immediately, they upgraded us once more to floor 55.
The rest of our stay was perfect. The breakfast is great, the location is good and the staff is very friendly.
