“Nice”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

My husband and I have just recently returned from a two night stay at this hotel. This was my husbands first stay here and my second. My husband felt the hotel was average but pleased that it was attached to the MBK. He didn't think much of the pool and the outside surroundings in that area. I last stayed here 6 years ago and remember it being very nice and in a good location which is why I thought it would be a good hotel to stay at. The lobby and reception areas were just as I remembered them and still looked quite sleek. However, I was disappointed with the room. It was tired, the chaise lounge had a large black scuff mark, the shower had mould between the tiles and the basin much the same. The level of cleanliness seemed to have dropped, there was no attention to detail in the cleaning of the bathroom. When we first arrived I noticed the vanity was not cleaned properly. The bed was very comfortable and we were very happy to have complimentary wifi. The breakfast restaurant on the ground floor had an excellent spread, a great variety and options. Once again the best part about staying at this hotel for me was that it was connected to the MBK and we could go back and forth as we pleased. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and anyone who is keen shopper. Not only is it close to MBK it is also close to Siam Paragon and the whole area where there are more shops. The staff were always very friendly and it was comforting knowing that they had a high level of security.

Another Business trip in September 2011. No hotel can beat Pathumwan Princess in terms of location. It's conveniently located attached to the one of the crowded shopping mall of MBK. And it is also a stop for the Sky train.

Room is pleasant and decorated with some bright colors. Size of the room is plenty to do a dance squad of 6. Judging from the location, it is surprisingly quiet enough.

But the champion is the breakfast! So many things to choose from that you probably don't need to eat the whole day anymore. So, better book the room with the breakfast included.

Would be always happy to come back anytime.

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip for 2 nights and found it very convenient. I had to be close to the MBK shopping mall, and this hotel is adjacent. The lobby has a connecting hall to the mall itself. The individual room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Although a little bit older, this hotel is well maintained. Some of the amenities that I wish they had provided were an international English language newspaper. But everything else, including the breakfast and choices at the coffee shop and hotel lounge were very good. I did not have time to go to the pool or use the gym, but it looked very nice.

Room Tip: Book a few days in advance so that you get a room with the amenities you prefer and quickly upon you...

We have recently returned from Thailand where we spent 3 nights in Bangkok at the Pathumwan Princess. This hotel is beautiful. We had a standard room on 21st floor and it was perfect for us. No shortage of space (even with all the shopping!) and we had no issue with the window through to the bathroom....in fact we found it a bit of a novelty! It is unusual though and may not be to everyone's taste, especially if you really like your privacy!
The bathroom though was very nice, and we loved the shower (it is over the bath) but it has two water sources which can work at the same time giving you an amazing shower experience! seems a waste of water though, in such a big city!
The bed is huge, and very comfortable (I love hard beds).
The gym too is HUGE, especially by hotel standards, and is never busy. We also enjoyed the sauna and steam room. The pool is also huge, but most of it is zoned off for swimming laps which is a little inconvenient at times as there is only one lane for paddling and playing. Luckily whilst we were there, the pool wasnt heavily occupied and we cooled down in the swimming lanes. Two nice spa pools available too - one cool and one warm. Heaps of deck chairs available, and great views across the city from this level.
We also ate breakfast on the 8th floor next to the pool for most mornings. Much nicer than cramming into the ground floor restaurant. We werent told we could have breakfast on the 8th floor, so maybe most guests dont realise they have the choice. Its much nicer eating outdoors in Bangkok, so we always took advantage of the 8th floor for brekkie. Great selection and there is still a chef cooking eggs whichever way you desire. Plus they have free cappucino etc and its good coffee on the 8th floor!
Access to MBK is definitely a bonus. We realised after we had left Bangkok and returned how good the shopping was at MBK, so take advantage while you are there and dont hesitate on any bargains!
We found all staff to be very friendly. The concierge we spoke to often, was very helpful with great English. We always asked him how much a taxi should cost to where we were going, and he gave great advice, and was always spot on with the price (metered taxi).
This hotel was brilliant. Clean, modern, all amenities, and in a great location. Hopefully we come back again....SOON!

Room Tip: higher up would be best.....we had 21st floor and it was excellent.....no noise whatsoever!

Excellent hotel in the centre of Bangkok. THe MBK shopping centre is attached so you can shop for bargains in air conditioned comfort.

Room Tip: My room was on the 17th floor which I found to excellent. Think any room would be great!

We got a good deal for our current 2 centre trip to Thailand and the first part of our journey is to stay at this hotel? We have neve stayed in Bangkok itself before so we were very pleased with this one. Its a fab hotel! 4/5star, staff are so friendly, food, service and amenities are just great, drinks are a bit pricey for this part of the world but you expect to pay for luxury surroundings. We are flying off to our 2nd destination tomorrow and hopefully I can submit another positive review for that one too

Room Tip: We are on the 24th floor and overlooking the pool area on the 8th floor, quiet and very, very comfor...

The hotel is situated perfectly for access to Bangkok's best shopping and entertainment venues, having direct access to the MBK shopping centre and, through it, easy, covered walking access to the shopping and entertainment complex around Siam Square. We were there during the Songkran celebrations and feared the soaking that is ritual at that time; being able to stay in the (relative) safety of the malls kept us dry during our visit!
Services in the hotel were generally very good and we enjoyed a nice tea in the cafe downstairs, with very good service and high-quality food and beverages. We did not try any other food in the hotel so cannot comment on that.
The fittings in the room were generally very good, with an extremely comfortable memory foam mattress ensuring very good sleep!
We found two odd things about the hotel's design, one immaterial but the other causing some discomfort in an otherwise very comfortable room. The hotel lobby (where you check in) is not on the ground floor where the taxi disgorges you, so you have to go up a (short) excalator to the first floor where you are met very efficiently and courteously. This is the immaterial design oddity!
The more discomfiting oddity is that the bathroom looks out over the bedroom, separated by an internal window. This has an electric blind that comes down to afford a little privacy but you have to be careful with the lighting to ensure that your partner cannot be distracted by your performance as you use the bathroom. We found this an uncomfortable compromise to allow for the lack of natural light in the bathroom - but then few hotel rooms have bathrooms with windows!
This bathroom issue would be one thing that would encourage us to see what alternative hotels might be available in the Siam area, which is a shame because otherwise this is an excellent hotel that would have merited another star (though charging for in-room internet access is a bit of an unnecessary gouge in what is billed as a 4-star hotel)
