“AMAZING!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

We had booked a deluxe room but found we were upgraded to a Hotel Suite. We had requested a deluxe room on a high floor with a pool view and weren't disappointed. Perhaps it was because we booked directly through the hotel rather than through another booking website?

We had a hotel suite on the 26th floor overlooking the pool. But given how high up were were, we couldn't see the pool so easily.

The room had the 'wow factor', hands down the best room we have stayed in over many years of traveling. The bathroom was HUGE running the length of the room. The bed was also huge and comfortable and the room had 2 TVs.

The breakfast was fantastic, with huge selection. The food through room service and by the pool was OK, nothing outstanding.

The front desk and bellmen were also very friendly. Will definitely be staying at the Pathumwan again!

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a Hotel Suite - and it was amazing. Wow factor! For the difference in price fro...

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 4 nights at the beginning of April. Boyfriend (who is Thai) managed to get us an upgrade to a suite, which was vast and very well appointed, with a simply gigantic bed you could quite easily get lost in. We had a sitting room, office, bedroom and large bathroom, so it was almost like an apartment. You get a DVD player too which is good, considering you can buy DVDs very cheaply in the markets of Bangkok (though some are pirated copies!).

I would agree that taking breakfast on the 8th floor by the pool is preferable to the first floor restaurant, which is frankly a bit of a scrum if you go there at peak times like 9 am! Be warned however the signposting on the 8th floor is inadequate and it took me about 15 minutes to find the place! But in both eateries there is a very good selection of Thai and western dishes. The hotel lobby is nice and peaceful and a good place to have tea and cakes. Proximity to the MBK shopping centre is a great advantage if you have a partner like mine who is a shopaholic. The hotel is also conveniently located for the Sky Train which is certainly the best way to beat Bangkok’s truly appalling traffic.

We found the service at the Princess prompt, efficient and courteous. We were never kept waiting for anything and room service and laundry were more than satisfactory (laundry service particularly rapid and not at all expensive!). The only slight drawback is the rather impersonal feel of the hotel, but then it is a five-star joint catering for large numbers of people, so you can’t complain too much. For a rather more intimate and exclusive experience, we would recommend the Hansar Hotel.

My husband and I have just recently returned from a two night stay at this hotel. This was my husbands first stay here and my second. My husband felt the hotel was average but pleased that it was attached to the MBK. He didn't think much of the pool and the outside surroundings in that area. I last stayed here 6 years ago and remember it being very nice and in a good location which is why I thought it would be a good hotel to stay at. The lobby and reception areas were just as I remembered them and still looked quite sleek. However, I was disappointed with the room. It was tired, the chaise lounge had a large black scuff mark, the shower had mould between the tiles and the basin much the same. The level of cleanliness seemed to have dropped, there was no attention to detail in the cleaning of the bathroom. When we first arrived I noticed the vanity was not cleaned properly. The bed was very comfortable and we were very happy to have complimentary wifi. The breakfast restaurant on the ground floor had an excellent spread, a great variety and options. Once again the best part about staying at this hotel for me was that it was connected to the MBK and we could go back and forth as we pleased. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and anyone who is keen shopper. Not only is it close to MBK it is also close to Siam Paragon and the whole area where there are more shops. The staff were always very friendly and it was comforting knowing that they had a high level of security.

Another Business trip in September 2011. No hotel can beat Pathumwan Princess in terms of location. It's conveniently located attached to the one of the crowded shopping mall of MBK. And it is also a stop for the Sky train.

Room is pleasant and decorated with some bright colors. Size of the room is plenty to do a dance squad of 6. Judging from the location, it is surprisingly quiet enough.

But the champion is the breakfast! So many things to choose from that you probably don't need to eat the whole day anymore. So, better book the room with the breakfast included.

Would be always happy to come back anytime.

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip for 2 nights and found it very convenient. I had to be close to the MBK shopping mall, and this hotel is adjacent. The lobby has a connecting hall to the mall itself. The individual room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Although a little bit older, this hotel is well maintained. Some of the amenities that I wish they had provided were an international English language newspaper. But everything else, including the breakfast and choices at the coffee shop and hotel lounge were very good. I did not have time to go to the pool or use the gym, but it looked very nice.

Room Tip: Book a few days in advance so that you get a room with the amenities you prefer and quickly upon you...

We have recently returned from Thailand where we spent 3 nights in Bangkok at the Pathumwan Princess. This hotel is beautiful. We had a standard room on 21st floor and it was perfect for us. No shortage of space (even with all the shopping!) and we had no issue with the window through to the bathroom....in fact we found it a bit of a novelty! It is unusual though and may not be to everyone's taste, especially if you really like your privacy!
The bathroom though was very nice, and we loved the shower (it is over the bath) but it has two water sources which can work at the same time giving you an amazing shower experience! seems a waste of water though, in such a big city!
The bed is huge, and very comfortable (I love hard beds).
The gym too is HUGE, especially by hotel standards, and is never busy. We also enjoyed the sauna and steam room. The pool is also huge, but most of it is zoned off for swimming laps which is a little inconvenient at times as there is only one lane for paddling and playing. Luckily whilst we were there, the pool wasnt heavily occupied and we cooled down in the swimming lanes. Two nice spa pools available too - one cool and one warm. Heaps of deck chairs available, and great views across the city from this level.
We also ate breakfast on the 8th floor next to the pool for most mornings. Much nicer than cramming into the ground floor restaurant. We werent told we could have breakfast on the 8th floor, so maybe most guests dont realise they have the choice. Its much nicer eating outdoors in Bangkok, so we always took advantage of the 8th floor for brekkie. Great selection and there is still a chef cooking eggs whichever way you desire. Plus they have free cappucino etc and its good coffee on the 8th floor!
Access to MBK is definitely a bonus. We realised after we had left Bangkok and returned how good the shopping was at MBK, so take advantage while you are there and dont hesitate on any bargains!
We found all staff to be very friendly. The concierge we spoke to often, was very helpful with great English. We always asked him how much a taxi should cost to where we were going, and he gave great advice, and was always spot on with the price (metered taxi).
This hotel was brilliant. Clean, modern, all amenities, and in a great location. Hopefully we come back again....SOON!

Room Tip: higher up would be best.....we had 21st floor and it was excellent.....no noise whatsoever!
