Just returned from Thailand after celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The Pathumwan Princess Hotel exceeded all our expectations from start to finish. As we were originally booked into a superior room the the Customer Service Management gave us 4 x upgrades to a Suite on the 28th Floor, together with supplying red roses, 40th anniversary cake and fruit. Upon our return to our room on the 1st night, our super king bed had been decorated with Swans made from bath towels and shaped into a ' HEART ' together with scattered rose petals on the bed and floating petals in our bathroom.
From start to finish this hotel exceeded all expectations in making our 40th Wedding anniversary a very special occasion.
The restaurants food was excellent together with all the other facilities this hotel offers.
The staff were 1st Class and the Customer Service Management brilliant.
If you want the best then stay at this hotel. Fully recommended

Room Tip: Pick a high level room, brilliant views of Bangkok

This was our third stay at this hotel and again first class service from check in until we left by their mini coach to take us to the airport. We had a suite on the 11th floor which was absolutely lovely, and the breakfast by the pool had an excellent selection. The suite had a large lounge area and bedroom, with a wonderful bathroom and dressing area. We were amazed to find a large fridge freezer, rather than the small mini bar, and the deluxe coffee making maching was a bonus for my husband.
The position of the hotel is perfect for anyone wanting a great shopping spree in the adjoining MBK Centre. The entrance from the lobby straight into the centre is perfect, for bringing the first shopping bags back to the room, before setting out again. Also very convenient for the Sky Train for getting around the city, and plenty of seats with it being the last stop on the line. At the MBK is a great place for eating. Food from around the world is cooked at individual stalls and with such a selection at very reasonable prices you don't have far to go, should you not wish to dine in the hotel.
We would certainly stay on our next visit to Bangkok and highly recommend it.

The magic 3 words "location, location, location" certainly apply here. The hotel is attched to the huge MBK shopping centre and if you can't find a bargain in there then you might as well go home. I had a single room which was really comfortable. Use the World Travel Tour desk if you want to go anywhere, I went with them on a private tour and it was me, the guide and the driver in a Mercedes, now you can't get anymore private than that! The staff are very friendly as well. Get breakfast included in your room rate, there are so many choices of food it is amazing. The only downside, the bar is expensive for drinks and beware of the dodgy tuk tuk drivers that hang out in the front of the hotel. Other than that minor thing, it is a great place to stay.

The Pathumwan Princess hotel is a lovely, conveniently located Bangkok hotel and very fairly priced for what you get. We had what was effectively a suite as there was three of us sharing. It had a large sitting room with a trundle bed, a bedroom with two double beds and access to a large, great bathroon and wardrobe room, accessed from the the entrance "hall" which also led into the bathroom. There was a capsule coffee maker, other coffee and tea making facilites, a mini bar if you wanted to use it (very expensive realtively speaking) and the service was wonderful. However, if you want to buy a cappucino from the hotel coffee lounge be prpared to pay an exhorbitant amount for it. The only slight disappointment is the breakfast buffet which despite providing most of what you could want was not a sgood as the one the Novotel provides (although the Novotel stay was many years ago and their buffet may have changed)
The hotel is attached to the MBK shopping "mall" which has several levels, some decent eating places and a small supermarket from which you can buy a selection of European products if required. There are walkways leading you to several shopping centres and the skytrain stop is very close so that visitors can access most parts of the city. Will stay in this hotel again whenever I have to go to Bangkok.

Firstly, location. The hotel is connected to the huge and crazy MBK shopping complex and just a very short walk from Siam Square, so if you're hoping to pick up a few bargains while you're in Bangkok the location is ideal. You could easily spend a day just wandering around MBK ...

It's also really easy to get to the BTS (Skytrain) from the hotel so much of the rest of the city is easily accessible.

The downside, although this obviously applies to most of Bangkok, is that if you're trying to get back to the hotel by taxi it can be very, very busy.

It's also worth mentioning that unless you know where to look, finding restaurants & bars around the Siam Square area isn't as easy as you would think - it's not really geared up for evening dining and isn't as touristy as you may expect. No such problem during the day though.

The rooms and hotel facilities are of a very high standard, with a large comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. The pool is good too, big enough for 'proper' swimming rather than just taking a dip and there are plenty of sunbeds & sitting space if you want to take time out to relax after a hectic few hours buzzing around the city.

However the sheer size of the hotel does make it feel a little bit impersonal. We stayed for three days, visiting family & friends who live & work in the area, before heading on to Cambodia. It was ideal for this sort of stopover, just recharging the batteries, but I'm not sure I'd want to be there for a longer period - I'd prefer somewhere with a little more character.

You could obviously find cheaper rooms but the location and quality do make the premium justified. I'll definitely consider staying there again when I go back.
