Check in was a breeze. We reached the hotel at around 10:30pm and we can hear construction on going. I was glad that our request for a high floor room was granted. We were given a deluxe corner room on the 23rd floor. It has a great view of the city and the room has a very luxurious feel. Breakfast always has a large variety and we enjoyed the food very much. We ate a seafood buffet dinner on one of the nights and the $35 we paid for 2 pax is truly worth it. The hotel was a 10-15 minute walk to all the big shopping malls. It has a very convenient connection to MBK. The staff are all so very polite and they really give very personalized service. I even received a birthday cake the day before my birthday (we were flying off on my birthday). However, there were downsides of our stay. On our 2nd day after breakfast, upon returning to the room, there was a strong paint/thinner smell. As I have a 2 year old son with me, I immediately asked for a room transfer. Within an hour, we were escorted to a deluxe corner room on the 15th floor. We were initially asking for an upgrade (that we're willing to pay for) but they said that the hotel was at its 98% occupancy. But, as compensation, they gave us free lounge access. The next day, we received a call from the duty manager, profusely apologozing for what happened. We also received a very nice fruit basket from the GM (Athough, I do not know if this is related to the incident). We thought that everything would be alright then. On our 3rd day, it was raining quite hard and we opted to stay in the room. We heard water droplets and saw that the ceiling was leaking. After the housekeeping was alerted, the duty manager personally came to apologize to us. We also received a complimentary plate of cookies and macarons with a letter apologizing once again. Truly, this hotel's gem is its staff. This is the kind of service you want in a luxury hotel. Even after all the unfortunate events, I will still stay with Pathumwan Princess next time I am in Bangkok.
