Excellent inner city hotel with top class facilities and staff, located exactly where you want to be and also right by the Skytrain which can take you to many other areas worth exploring. Don't expect to relax outside the hotel as it's a non-stop city you won't be prepared for if you haven't been before.

Room immaculate and spacious, staff superb. Very good location. It is in 'real' Bangkok with Bangkok life going on outside but don't let that put you off. We stayed with a young family and never once felt intimidated or uncomfortable. We will definately consider coming back. Beats many hotels we have stayed in and we have stayed in many throughout the world!

We stayed 4 nights at the Bel Aire princess in Bangkok. We got a taxi from the airport which was very easy.
The road the hotel is on isn't the best, few groups of men hanging about but never any trouble & hotel has good security.

Staff at hotel can't do enough for you, carrying your bags, opening doors & all very friendly.
We had our room upgraded for free which was nice & the room itself was beautiful! Huge bed, nice view over the city (we was on the 14th floor) lovely clean bathroom.

We used the hotels travel desk for a trip to the Floating Markets & Tiger Temple's. Would def recommend this as a trip & the hotel transport you in a nice private car!

We booked the hotel through Trailfinders and think it was very good value for money!

Everyday they put two bottle of water in your room for free, the safety deposit box was free & also brought us fruit frequently.

Hotel has a nice pool but we didn't have time to use it.

If eating out would recommend Gullivers restaraunt up the road for food and drinks!

Stayed here with my wife for 3 nights in early December & really liked the hotel.
The whole place including the rooms were spotless, the staff were great too.
Was impressed with the size of the rooms, made relaxing in the room a pleasant experience.
Some people have said negative things about the location in a few reviews, all I can say to that is get real guys, yes there are people hanging around the street- vendors, taxi drivers, locals & tourists but so what? Everyone is harmless & going about their own business, we had no hassle from anyone- a firm 'no thanks' always does the trick!
Also, breakfast was very nice with a good selection.
A couple of 7 11's & super markets are on the same street so don't bother with the mini bar.
Will definitely be staying here again next time we come to Thailand.

This hotel is located in the heart of the city and near to the red light area. There is a pool on the 3rd floor, however the short time spent there was marred by construction work noises on a building across the road.

Would go back and stay again. Nice hotel, good location, very near nana sky train station. Gullivers down the road, good for a mug of tea, then moving on to a few beers.

The Bel-Aire of Bangkok

Take off the 'e' and you get Bel-Air a suburb of Los Angeles, California (named by its Portuguese founder, 'City of Angels').

Eight thousand two hundred and sixty three miles away is another 'City of Angels' - Bangkok (called such by its Thai population) and almost hidden away in the frenetic mix of urban infrastructure and daily life, is another 'Bel-Air' but this little gem is a hotel called the Bel-Aire Princess.

It nestles in soi 5 (a side street) in one of the important districts of Bangkok, Thanon (road) Sukhumvit, where some of the best shopping is located and above which, runs the air-conditioned Skytrain, the fastest and easiest (and cheapest) way to reach many of the important areas of the city.

With the abundance of hotels in and around Sukhumvit, making a good choice without guidance can be like strolling along the Essex shoreline looking down at the masses of oyster shells washed up on the tide and guessing which if any - contains a pearl.

I did my homework, made a reservation and after a 40 minute taxi ride from the sparkling new airport (costing a mere £8), I alighted, watched as my luggage was swept through the hotel's all-glass frontage to be greeted with smiles and efficiency. Having sipped a 'welcome drink' and chatted with the new manager, Giljsbert Roodenburg (call me Bert, he invited) I was escorted to my room.

That was my first surprise. Space, space and more space. Very, very different to the many 4 star hotel rooms I've stayed in around the world. Expertly designed, beautifully decorated and not lacking a single modern facility.

Although the hotel boasts 160 rooms, that fact never once became apparent. Staff addressed me by name, I felt 'at home'. The constant impression given was that I (and everyone else) were 'honoured guests'. How refreshing.

Naturally, the hotel has all the features expected (and some not). The third floor outdoor swimming pool lures, especially after a day of sightseeing and the aptly named 'Liquid Lounge' perfectly sited in the marble-clad foyer, is rarely without a customer. For those who lust after a strenuous workout (not me I might add) a well equipped gym caters.

Breakfast buffets (Oriental, full English or Continental) were included in my reservation and could not be faulted. Lunch and dinner offered enough tasty choices to suit any palate.

Room service, laundry and housekeeping were spot-on - all accompanied with beaming smiles.

When the time came to check-out, it was with mixed feelings. Enjoyment, comfort and satisfaction, were only part of those. The lasting impression is far more subjective...that likened to saying 'goodbye' to a dear friend.

When I visit Bangkok again, will I stay at the Bel-Aire Princess...you bet I will!

On a final (and more mercenary note) I am still smiling over the fact that the cost of my stay was less than I would have paid at a 2 star and well-worn UK city establishment.

What a find!
