“Perfect 10 on everything”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

Traveled to Bangkok with the family and stayed in the two bedroom suite on the top floor. This was probably my fifth trip to Bangkok but my first with the entire family. Everything with this hotel is perfect. It's probably one of the oldest and smallest hotels I've stayed at, but every single staff there is courteous, professional, and greets guests with a wonderful smile. Other than having someone feed me food, I think everything was done for me - doors opened, umbrellas held, elevator pressed, etc. This is absolutely one of the best hotels in the world. One thing I love about Thailand is you don't feel like you have to haggle every minute and be on alert for someone trying to rip you off.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river

It is over 30 years that I have been coming here... and 10 years with my family.
If you are reading this... just do it. Have at least one visit to this legendary hotel in your life.
We have stayed in some magnificent hotels all over the world yet they shall all be judged by the standard that " La Grande Dame " The Oriental has set.
We have stayed in The Ritz London, Bristol Paris, Royal Riviera St Jean Cap Ferat, Portofino, De Russie Rome, Savoy Florence, Cannaught London, Plaza New York, Crilllon Paris, Peninsula Hong Kong etc.

The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is by far and away the best on level of service, food, drink, and friendliness.
We have been coming here every year for Christmas and New Year and will continue to do s... as it is almost ritual for us now and by far the most fantastic time is to be had.

Room Tip: Splurge out and take a suite

Stayed here for four nights resently. Check in was very good. Stayed in a deluxe riverview room. The room was a bit strange. You could actually se into the toilet from the bedroom, through a glass window??? The AC in the room was very quiet, as a light sleeper that is something I find important.

Can recomend the barbecue buffet, it was excellent, Breakfast was also very good. The Lunch buffet on Sala RIm was good, but not excellent.

The Oriental Spa was worth the money. The pool area was nice, but nothing extraordinary.

The service was perfect.

The level of service and attention to detail was as good as we have ever experienced during our travels. The hotel is not large or opulent, but that creates a "boutique" feel to it. We found the food to be excellent, with a large variety in their menus. Our young daughter was very happy with the kid offerings.

The spa was a great experience. Prices may be high for Bangkok, but a very reasonable for US standards.

We highly recommend the ariport service provded by the hotel, includng the fast tracking thru immigration. It saved at least 1 hour of hassles at the airport.
