My wife and I stayed there for couple of nights. The money that we spent was good expense. Excellent service, excellent accomodation. It was the first time we sleep there and we'll come back everytime we need to stay in Bangkok. Good choice

this is probably the best hotel we ever stayed at in Bangkok - impeccable. You get what you pay for, really. We also would like to thank our traval agent Andaman Sky for recommending this hotel to us, we thought it would be overpriced, but they assured us it was worth every penny - right they were !

We usually stay in the Siam Square area when we go to Bangkok but this time we wanted to experience what it like staying next to the river. We got a room looking over the river, it was a spectacular view seeing all the activity of the river. The service and the room was what you expect you would get at the Mandarin Oriental. The breakfast buffet was exception with more choices then anyone could eat. I wish we could of tried the seafood buffet in the evening as it also look exceptional. It was fun travelling on the river with the hotel boat that drop you off at the bts station or across the river to the fitness and spa facilities. If you been to Bangkok and try something different the Oriental is a wonderful place to stay.

I don't think you can beat the atmosphere of this hotel. Fantastic service and the food is surprisingly very affordable. Be aware of the 6pm dress code. I like but if you not aware of it, it can embarrassing to put on some slacks. Highly recommended!

We decided to try the Mandarin Oriental on our return to Bangkok, for a couple of nights, before flying to India.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay, and our room was just big enough and comfortable, with a lovely view of the Chao Phraya River, with the well manicured French Embassy next door. Also, we really appreciated the complimentary shoe shine and other old-fashioned services provided for guests.

Breakfast on The Verendah was not as good as we would have hoped for, especially, compared to The Sukhothai Hotel breakfast services we have experienced to date. That said, we really enjoyed the Mandarin Oriental's Chinese restaurant venue, The China House, where we enjoyed a stellar luncheon experience.

Also, we decided one evening during our stay to book a classical Thai dance-dinner show at Sala Rim Naam (located in a pavilion built in the traditional Northern Thai style, across the river from the hotel). This was a nice formal Thai dinner experience, in a beautiful setting. Ferry service was included in the package.

All in all, this is a wonderfully old-fashioned, elegant hotel. And if you time your visit, you might get invited to the General Manager's cocktail reception in the Author's Lounge, as we pleasantly attended during our stay.

Room Tip: Look for the cheapest room!
