The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is one of the most fantastic hotels that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in quite a few!!
It is a beautiful hotel on the riverbank, the staff are just incredible, NOTHING was too much trouble, they know your name from the minute you arrive, and our Floor Butler was sooo helpful. We had a Mandarin room on the 15th Floor which overlooks the river- PERFECT.
Food was super, and we got the hotel boat across the river to one of their other restaurants, where we had the set menu which was incredible -Thai food at its best.
One of the lovely things also are the wonderful flowers everywhere in the hotel, and in your room.
There is NOTHING that the hotel hasn't thought of - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING !!!!!

Gorgeous at every turn! The hotel is impeccably done and the service is outstanding! The lobby is one of a kind. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet over looking the water! We loved the boat ride every morning to the fully outfitted gym! We had two terrific mornings of yoga with very helpful instructors. Room was spacious and comfortable! The concierge did a great job of setting up last minute activities for us! Highly recommend this hotel!

A sweltering early April morning found us arriving at the MO to a serene welcome which was only cool because of the very welcome air conditioning. We were surprised and delighted to find that we'd been upgraded to a suite on arrival and to be honest, things just went from better to ... more better :)

So, room was lovely, even with our son's rollaway in it. There was even a selection of CDs to put on, including some very relaxing Thai music. Bathroom was HUGE, although the toilet and shower being in the same 'room' within the bathroom was a shade problematic on occasion. There was a 'butler' who served the whole floor and for whom nothing was too much trouble.

All of the food that we ate on site was good - the barbecue/self serve restaurant by the river was great with a wide choice of food and was a laid back vibe which suited us of an evening. There was a tiny problem with one dish at the on site Thai restaurant (reached by the hotel's own cross river ferryboat which was fun) but hell, they made me a larb moo which wasn't on the menu so they are forgiven. I'd gently recommend perhaps that if one wants Thai food then get out into Bangkok and find it though.

I don't know what else to say really, the service in every area was brilliant - efficient, friendly, never intrusive but we really felt that we were being looked after. I had a massage at the spa and it was lovely, both the setting and the treatment, and the whole experience of staying here made all three of us not want to leave. And I can't say better than that.

The place is surreal! Photos of all the great writers in the world, many of whom stayed at the Oriental themselves (Joseph Conrad)! You will have a choice of great world teas, great cakes, and hours to just relax and write or draw or muse. It is expensive, but the splurge is worth it!

Room Tip: If you are a guy you MUST wear pants. The first time I went I had to rent a pair from a small store...

Without adding histrionics or exaggeration this hotel exemplifies class with classic style, beautiful rooms and the ability to make one feel a slice of royalty and how they live.

Particularly impressed with the strong culture of the brand and vote which resonates throughout their staff and attitude to guests which filters through I to first class service. A must stay if visiting the Orient.

If you are visiting Bangkok you have to stay here. The old original building is fascinating to walk around and the lounge serves the most amazing cream tea. The staff are fantastic and the rooms are great with your own butler. We had a river view which was wonderful as you got to see Bangkok's river life at day and night. All of the restaurants are excellent. Get the hotel boat over to the other side of the river where their Thai restaurant is - its a wonderful experience to eat here and watch the boats pass by. The food is excellent - try the buffet for a real selection of great Thai dishes. The swimming pool area is lovely but can get busy. The gym is great and the spa is amazing - definitely book a treatment. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: River View Room.

Have just returned from a weekend at the Mandarin Bangkok to celebrate my Birthday.
From the moment I arrived I received impeccable service, on my actual Birthday countless members of staff wished me a Happy Birthday, I was also presented with a Birthday Cake, flowers, and a chorus of Happy Birthday from the floor staff.
The hotel itself was what you would expect from the Mandarin, traditional style of the best quality.
The restaurants were all first class, great outdoor dining with beautiful terraces to sit and watch the hustle and bustle of the Chao Praya River
The gym is modern and well equipped, and my spa visit also was very relaxing.
Great Hotel with 1st class service.
