“A decadent night in luxury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014 via mobile

We only stayed one night but this hotel was fabulous. For the price it's a luxurious and spacious room with spa. We ate dinner downstairs at Nahm and I used the gym. All facilities are very luxurious and elegant.
Staff very helpful and polite and
Not an issue was had, they organized the taxi transfer to ensure we didn't get ripped off. I think for one night of bliss after a series of guesthouses is well worth the dollars.

I LOVED this hotel. Everything from the design to the food, the gym, the breakfast, the restaurant, the service was excellent. My massage was also great, cool little boutique shop as well. I wish we could have stayed longer. I'll tell all my friends.

It's very typical of Bangkok travelers to find the most affordable bed & breakfast so that they have enough money left for shopping. There's also a very cliche and stereotypical way that people perceive what a Bangkok trip should be -- so when my husband and I went to Bangkok together for the first time, we decided to go against the usual touristy hotels, the usual touristy spots etc. That's when we began to research on where it would be best to stay in for us. We chanced upon the Metropolitan Hotel. We didn't know what to expect but boy we were very pleasantly surprised and amazed from the moment we entered the place. From the Yamamoto-design uniforms of the staff, to the clean and chic rooms. to the well-thought out restaurants and the award winning Como Shambhala spa, everything was divine, luxe, and special. And now when I think of Bangkok, out of all the things and places we experienced in this country, this is one of the most memorable. Will definitely stay here again should we find ourselves needing to go to Bangkok in the future!

From the moment of check-in until leaving this wonderful place everything was perfect! i was here 9 years ago and it felt great to be back. The hotel is still wonderful with huge rooms (especially the Metropolitan rooms), a big swimming pool, very nice spa and gym and very friendly staff.
And don't forget their Invigorous shampoo and showergel! As soon as you enter the hotel you can scent the soothing combination of peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus, it makes you want to stay there forever..
Within 10 minutes walking distance there is a BTS-station and also a metro-station which takes you anywhere. Lots of shopping, eating and other fun activities in the Silom area, close to the hotel.
I had only breakfast at the hotel and the buffet is more than adequate. Prices are at a european level but it is worth it every once in a while.
The front desk and housekeeping staff were all very welcoming, charming and went out of their way to make me feel at home. And if you have a chance to visit their spa, try one their massages. They had a good deal while I was staying there and it was a great way to end my trip through Thailand.
Hopefully it won't take another 9 years before I return to my favourite hotel in the world, thank you Metropolitan!

A fantastic stay. Huge room, amazing, friendly, kind, attentive, polite and jusy lovely staff. These guys are what makes this hotel so special. The rooms are big airy and very very comfortable. My bathroom was just perfect and I love the COMO toiletries which I also use at home in London. Special touches I really appreciate as a person who travels overseas at least once a month included a really hearty fresh fruit platter everyday - not sliced and rather sorry looking plate of fruit I often get but a selection of big, juicy and fresh fruit!! Thank you for my daily mango! Also sachets for fresh ground coffee to use in the caferieire every morning are perfect and sorely lacking in many hotels! It's like being at home. The staff treat you like family and it does feel like coming home. I can't wait to get back. I have been lucky enough to stay in some of the world's most expensive, exclusive and luxurious hotels but I would hapily trade many of them in for the wonderful and unbeatable personal service I recieve here. Keep it up and don't ever change! Thanks for an amazing stay!!

Room Tip: Book a Metropolitan room or above for best space

This is a very nice hotel, but would have to agree with some of the other comments. The room and public areas are lovely - minimal contemporary style. However, the building itself is an older builder which is refurbished very tastefully, but is a bit dated and there are some awesome new properties in Bangkok with better facilities. The pool is OK. Looks nicer in photos than in reality, and is not kid friendly. Access to pool and gym is awkward. It is low rise and there are not really any nice views and basically you are a bit away from shops/restaurants in quite a business orientated part of Bangkok (next to the Banyan Tree). Access to BTS/MRT involves a decent walk.

Not sure if I would stay again, but if you are there for dinner (at the restaurant Nahm) or for work, it is a nice option. Probably not a great option with kids (suspect they aren't targeting families though)

Dear David O, was very nice to have you all with us, thanks a lot for your visit and very kind comments and feedback.
We have shared with our team, we are really sorry that you didn't find the pool very convenient for the kids, we do have plenty of families and personally believe the pool is one of the nicest in Bangkok, but definitely it is more of a lap pool than a kids pool, really sorry about that and very happy that overall you had a nice stay.
We would be delighted to welcome you back, please let us know if we can be of any assistance, meanwhile receive our warmest regards, happy day. Jorge Monje.

3.5. The staff are absolute standouts at this hotel and are 5 star employees. Could not do more to help you. The rooms themselves are showing the ravages of time, in my bathroom there was quite a mould problem that needs addressing. The rooms are spacious though and the beds very comfortable. Would agree the food is on the expensive side. Nahm was outstanding but will review it separately. The biggest downfall is its distance from any public transport (and other amenities) and taxis hate coming here so it does make it a bit challenging. I also did not find the pool comfortable to use as the restaurant overlooks it (exhibitionists would probably love it)!

Dear lilygrove
Greetings from the Metropolitan by COMO Bangkok! Many thanks for your recent stay and for your feedback.
We are delighted to hear that you rated our service and employee so highly. I am very sorry we could not meet your expectations in regards of location and pool comfort. The river, temples, shopping and night life are easily reachable via Taxi, BTS (sky train) and MRT (subway) both with stations within 10 minute comfortable and safe walk, plus plenty of local, dining, shopping and night life within walking distance as we are just across one street from Silom, Pat Pong, Suan Plu and the very nice Lumpini Park.
I do sincerely apologize for the shower issue, which is extremely embarrassing and I have already followed up with our team.
Nevertheless, I hope we may have the opportunity to welcome you back! Please let me know should you need anything from Bangkok or in case your next journey to Bangkok brings you back and you may want to consider giving us a second chance, I am happy to be of assistance.
