I enjoyed my stay at the Metropolitan. I had been elsewhere in Thailand before coming here and found the cool city atmosphere a great contrast to beach and sea days. The room (Metropolitan) was very comfortable with a good city view - maybe we lucked out there reading previous reviews, breakfast great, dinner in the Cyan restaurant impressive, although as with nearly all hotel restaurants it is a shame they are so often too quiet. Didn’t use the pool, but the spa/steam rooms were good as was the service generally during our stay. Taxis, sky train, tuk-tuk and especially the river boats were a lot fun and so cheap and close by to get around and explore the city – and we found coming back to this peaceful and relaxing hotel a very nice experience. It doesn’t matter that you are slightly further away from the bright lights as long as you have planned eating before you return/going by taxi somewhere in the evening or want to eat in the hotel as there isn’t a huge amount food wise within walking distance. One slightly dodgy restaurant recommendation from the staff, which turned out to be a touch too touristy for us, but that’s personal taste I guess and the cocktails at the met bar made up for it. Overall a very enjoyable stay, but how odd is it that a hotel of this kind with the competition that there must be in Bangkok for good hotels wants to charge (a not insignificant amount) for internet in your room?

The hotel is on South Sathorn Road, right next to the Banyon Tree. This is the area where most of the embassies are. The lobby is understated but beautiful. Staff are wonderfull, very helpful and extreamly polite. The metropolitan rooms are huge! They have plenty of light and have dark wooden floors. There are 2 restuarants and a bar. They all serve excellent food (but not cheap). The nearest skytrain stop is a 10 minute walk away. I have been in Bangkok many times, and after my stay at the Metropolitan, I now would not stay anywhere else.

Cant say how much I love this hotel!

Its relaxing, calming and stress free, the best hotel Ive stayed in, its not like a normal 5* hotel with staff dressed like clowns and lobbies full of gaudy furnishings and coach loads of package tours coming and going.

The staff are attentive without being overbearing and also there to help.

The beds are the best Ive slept in the breakfast the best Ive eaten (try both resturants the organic one is really good) and the bathroom the most relaxing and spacious.

The pool is a little disappointing just because the sun isn't around for long but the pool staff are lovely and pool is great for a evening swim, the gym is well equipped and spacious for hotel and also there are Yoga.power plate and conditioning classes free for guests.

The skytrain at Sala Deang is about a 5/10 minute straight walk or Lumpini underground is about the same so it easy enough to get about

I could go on for ever about the Met but all I say is if your under 40 and want a cool unfussy hotel then stay here you wont be disappointed

It's hard to fault ths hotel. The staff were good and the room exceeded expecations with a large limestone bathroom and separate bath and shower. Comfortable bed and right next door to the Vertigo bar at the Banyan Tree hotel.

The Metro was nicely designed and very clean hotel with a gorgeous breakfast dining area overlooking a lovely pool. The rooms and lobby areas have modern/contempory furnishings and were very clean. This hotel would be perfect for business people looking for a modern hotel they can entertain clients within. The staff were very freindly and could speak fluent english (!) I would highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay again in the future.

I hesitate to write this review because this is the sort of place one likes to share only with a select few.. but given the economy,, I want to be certain it's around next time I go to Bangkok. So here goes. Yes, I have stayed in more posh hotels. With better addresses,, higher thread counts and a valet to unpack you... but this is my kind of place. They remembered, right away, my little 'things' -I like lots of extra towels, and there were piles of them after I asked that first time. I like my coffee with hot milk on the side, and that's the way my coffee always came. no matter what floor, time of day, what not. When ever I ordered it they remembered. It was very home-y, and clean, and the service was perfect. Oh, and the laundry! -anyway, well done.. Think I even miss some of the staff after a 3 week stay.

We were lucky enough to stay for 4 nights at the Metropolitan Hotel and would thoroughly recommend it. We were in a corner Metro Room which was large and had the most comfortable bed ever - the sheets were crisp, pillows soft and the bed was huge. After 5 minutes of arriving in our room, we were brought a complimentary bottle of champagne and a box of handmade chocolates for our wedding anniversary - a lovely surprise !
Breakfast was included and could be taken in the Cy'an restaurant or Glow if you wanted a healthy option. Both were lovely, with an interesting selection to try. I particularly liked the Eggs Benedict and freshly cooked Pain au Chocolat in Cy'an and the Smoothies in Glow.
We ate on our wedding anniversary at Cy'an and had their tasting menu which was amazing. The food was delicious and well presented and the service superb.
The location of the hotel isn't too bad, the skytrain was approx 10 mins walk away and taxis were always available and not too expensive. The Siam Night market is 5 mins walk from the hotel and is easy to get to.
We loved our stay at the Metropolitan Hotel, the room was gorgeous and all staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful - we'd definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.
