The Met hasn't lost it's touch. It's still as simple stylish as always. At the moment with the tourism trade in decline, we got an unbelievable deal, which just made our stay at that much better.

The service was impeciable, the spa massage was possibly the greatest experience i'd had in years, and the food delish.

Overall, a perfect citybreak weekend

Had a really excellent stay at the Met. Greeted at door and taken to room by reception staff who showed us where everything was. Room was huge (Metropolitan Room), living area with sofa and chair to chill out after a hot day in the city. Bathroom was massive, big walk in open shower and large bath. Huge bed.

We were on Honeymoon and they brought Champagne, chocolates and tea after a few minutes of being in the room. Nice touch.

About 10 minutes walk from Patpong with all it's eye opening night life. Sky train is also near Patpong so easy to get to although we took taxis everywhere as they were really cheap, 150 baht to get to the old town/temples area. Make sure you know where you are going and have a map as some of the taxi drivers where a bit lacking in knowledge.

Food in C'yan was very expensive, we got enticed in by the free glass of wine voucher when we arrived but kind of regretted it after. Food was very good though but we preferred heading out into the city to eat.

Outdoor pool is lovely. The famous Met Bar was empty every time we went in but had some excellent cocktails at reasonable prices. A bit cold though.

Hotel is next door to the Banyan Tree Hotel which has a bar and restaurant on the roof (Vertigo). Well worth a visit to soak up the atmosphere at night and enjoy a cocktail and the bar snacks. Could have sat there all night.

We stayed for four nights back in May '08. We stayed in a Metropolitan room which was fantastic. Huge, very comfortable bed. Spacious sitting area with built-in sofas, coffee table, with fruit. Beautiful bathroom. Well stocked mini bar, WIFI, large LCD T.V. and D.V.D. player.
The hotel facilities are very good. Great gym/fitness room with resistance machines, free weights and cardiovascular machines. Amazing spar and great outdoor swimming pool.
There are two restaurants- Glow, which is outside the spa, serves healthy food and gorgeous smoothies/fruit infusions, and Cy'an is on the ground floor, which serves the most amazing breakfast- everything is 1st class, tastes and smells are mouthwatering.
The staff are so polite it is painful, they are really fantastic and utterly competent.
The Met Bar is excellent, really cool and chic, very upbeat music playing with a D.J once or twice a week who when we were there way playing really cool, soulful tracks. The Mojotos are the best I have tasted, and the cocktail menu as a whole is awesome as are the cocktail mixologists/ barman who make them.
Although we went for leisure there were plenty of business people there. I would recommend the Metropolitan Bangkok to anyone, Como hotels are awesome.

Due to the air travel disruption, we had to extend our stay in Thailand for three days. The Met got to a promising start as they changed my reservation which I cocked up myself (booked hastily at Phuket Airport), with no quibble. However, the alarm sounded as soon as we arrived: no security check (which was the case in all the other 3 hotels we stayed in Thailand - important because of the current political situation); no bell boy opening the door for us (which seemed to be the case most of the time); the lobby was unimpressive for a hotel of this reputation; the staff (except Kanthamanee, the front office Manager & Allan, the gentleman in charge of the business centre) clad in white-shirt black-slacks (front desk) and navy polo-shirts & dark trousers (concierge and other departments) were just too casual for our liking...

The Metropolitan Room which we stayed in was HUGE, granted. But the decor really was just an explosion of neutral colours... Think beige, chocolate, beige and beige... Fair enough everything was of very high quality (excellent power shower, incidentally!) but it just felt a little, well, spartan?

We didn't eat in any of the restaurants as I got put off by the one called Glow, which looked like the staff canteen in Orwell's 1984 :-S

It is not all bad, all right: the pool was nice and big enough for a small hotel like this; free internet and an iMac in the lobby; they tried hard and helped us contact the airlines; there was a PowerPlate in the gym.

I guess it is not the Met's fault that it is über-cool but I am too used to the usual 5-star comfort and service in this part of the world.
