“Amazing”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

Have never been anywhere as beautiful as the Peninsula. Service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The room (Grand Deluxe) was beautiful, nothing at all to complain about. Fantastic views over the river and Bangkok. The bathroom was a highlight, especially the huge bathtub with a television in the wall. Housekeeping was great, all clothes folded or hung up and they even arranged my makeup! Buffet breakfast was lovely, especially nice to sit out and look over the river. Great selection of food and again, fantastic service. The pool was lovely, in the heat was great to have an endless supply of ice cold water brought to us! Location was ok, only 100baht by hotel Taxi to MBK shopping centre, and the boats going over the river were great, very pretty at nighttime. Overall fantastic stay, really was the highlight of Bangkok for us. Will definitely return!

Well run, efficient and some great rooms with views. Internet was free which is good. The boat system works well and staff is very pleasant. I do think the restaurants are over priced however, particularly the Chinese restaurant. Extremely good pool although the water temperature is way too hot at 38C !! Try to get breakfast included in your room otherwise expensive.

We stay about 5 months each year in Thailand for business and choose to weekend at a hotel in the capital whenever possible. Peninsula Bangkok in the best! A couple of nights in room 3306 late last month recharged our batteries and reacquainted us with staff long known.
Returning guests are VIPs, accorded warm smiles of recognition and excellent amenities.
There can be few greater pleasures than a couple of hour's relaxation by the 'canal-style' pool while staff serve complimentary sweetmeats and ladies from the spa anoint you with fragrant facial sprays. The spa is the best we've experienced in Bangkok, in no small part to the graceful and serene relaxation room where guests may rest after their treatment with honey & ginger tea or a lemongrass dessert. Therapists are highly skilled and discrete.
Management respond quickly to problems/concerns and give every impression that your total satisfaction is their foremost priority. Housekeeping respond within minutes to the smallest (or most obscure request with ease and smiles.
Is it perfect? Of course not; the lobby's a little dark and lacks the grandeur of the Hong Kong hotel, the main bar is tucked away to one side of the front entrance and lacks a river view (there's another bar adjacent to the River Cafe restaurant), and there's a much wider range of dining options at The Mandarin Oriental across the Chao Phraya River. However, with large, well-planned rooms and suites, complimentary wi-fi access throughout the hotel and a location slightly remote from (but with easy access to) the city bustle, Peninsula remains our preferred choice!
Highly recommended.

Stayed at The Peninsula Hotel for 3 nights - We requested an early check in our booking as we flew in to Bangkok very early. On arrival we were greeted at the door and taken straight to our rooms, no checking in or filling out forms until later. The rooms were large and we opted for an inter-connecting corner room for families where the hallway is closed off by a main door. The room was on the 31st floor with sweeping views over the river and Bangkok.

The hotel is very professional with ATD - nothing is overlooked. We felt the restaurants were good with a good location on the river. Mosquitoes were a problem but nothing a good repellant couldn't deal with. We went on the hotel river cruise for sun downers which was fun and had a couple of great excursions with a lovely guide all arranged meticulously by the concierge - we went over the Songkran festival which is a must with slightly older or teenage children, it is just one big water fight ! all done in good spirit. Albeit be aware that thousands of people attend the festival on Silom Road and you will be drenched from head-to-toe and covered in white powder - not advised with very small children.

Stayed in many 5 star city hotels but this one ranks highly in our estimation. Only flaw was at breakfast, we felt the buffet was over crowded and other guests a bit grabby and pushy but that is a small price to pay, we had room service after that.

If you are planning a stay in Bangkok, this one is hard to beat.

Room Tip: Rooms - higher the better and request it in your booking.

Stayed 1 night in a suite- having been to Bangkok some years ago (Banyan Tree) and also had 1 night @ The Shangri La at the start of our trip we opted to see if the the Peninsula measured up and it really does on all levels (an earlier trip to the Pen in Beijing gave a taster). The staff from check in to check out were all excellent and you feel special and pampered as a guest- exactly what you want at a luxury city hotel. We ate on the riverside terrace at the international restaurant which was very good.Luckily competition at 5 star level in Bangkok is quite steep so rates are quite affordable for the superb standards that you can experience. We splashed out and took the Rolls Royce back to the airport which really was the icing on the cake and well worth the splurge.

I LOVE this hotel. Everything from the entrance off the busy street into an oasis, to the staff and how they check you in, to the rooms, and the setting on the river screams luxury. The atmosphere is subtle and calming. The views are fantastic. The rooms are elegant, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom has a sizable shower and a separate big tub with a TV in it! There is a large dressing room area. The views of the river are spectacular. If you can take the heat there is a great restaurant on the water. The Peninsula's water shuttle is the nicest on the river! Take the hotel 7 series to the airport - worth the extra $$ - STAY HERE!!!!
