Last June we visited Bali for two weeks and Bangkok for one week. Go out with a bang, we thought and booked the last three days in the Peninsula. We had heard and seen (television) so many great things about it and guess what...it turned out to be even better than what we hoped for; what a treat! If you can spend it, book a balcony-room. We were up on the 33rd floor, a gorgeous room, walk-in closet, a beautiful marble bathroom, compliments for the interior decorating. This goes for the whole building, everywhere you look are beautiful things, paintings, artwork, woodcarvings. Special compliment goes out to the pool-staff, these guys make your day! We decided to take it slow the last three days, so we were at the pool a lot. They serve a perfect lunch (ask for the Sharing-platter), every now and then they come over with home-made icecream, icewater, fruit. The location is perfect -most of all because of the view over the river and city. The Peninsula-boats take you across the river whenever you want and back. If you go for a workout at the gym, they are so very helpfull ! Not to mention the breakfast near the river; the staff spoils you. I could go on and on, our stay here really made our holiday so very special and unforgetable! This hotel is hard to top!

Room Tip: Add a preference when you book. We especially loved the Balcony-room. Add "preferably as high...

Does it get any beter than this? HArd to beat this hotel.
We got a suite upgrade on the 34th floor which means amazing views.
location is fantastic - with a free boat ride accross the river to go to the old town.
negatives - i could not find any - rooms impeccible, service great and always with a smile, in one word fantastic.
The pool area is fantastic - albeit it rather small but this is a city hotel.

We stayed 4days for a wedding anniversary ,on 39th floor.the view on the river was superb . Room was as described on the website ,beautiful and large, excellent bedding and bathroom.
Service was top notch, with extra attentions for our wedding anniversary.
The Thai restaurant on the river front is delicious , as is the cafe. Morning buffet is excellent . The Chinese restaurant is rated the best in Bangkok.Food is very sophisticated but the settings are a bit cold and formal for my taste.
The hotel provides a free shuttle to the other bank of the river ( very elegant boat indeed).
The swimming pool is very design, one of the best competitive points of this hotel vs the Oriental.
We loved every minute of our stay and would definitely go back on our next trip to Bangkok.

Room Tip: Room above 39th floor are premium room and the view is worth the extra money.

The peninsula hotel has a great reputation. It is well earned, the staff are friendly and the property is beautiful. There was not one problem with my recent stay, in fact it was flawless. We had a room upgrade to a suite that made the stay much nicer. Over looking the river there are a number of first class hotels. But the peninsula cannot be beat. The mandarin oriental across the river is also a great place. Visited for a meal and the bar with live entertainment which is lacking at the peninsula. I stayed at the oriental several years ago which has a different feel but both properties are top in Bangkok .

Room Tip: Look for a river view it adds to your stay. It helps to go to higher floors if you like to sleep in...

We thought a lot before staying at the Peninsula. Hotels are so cheap and generally so nice in SE Asia that it seems expensive by comparison. But this hotel is so amazing that it is worth the price (and less than half what the Peninsula would cost in the states.) The rooms are lovely. Ours was nearly a suite, with a desk and sitting area, a dressing room, complete with dressing table, and a huge bath with full tub and separate shower. The view of Bangkok from the little balcony was gorgeous. The pool was divine. The food was the best we had in Thailand. In fact, we felt a little guilty eating there so often but we couldn't resist. The only improvement I could have made would be to have the concierge be a bit more pro-active. When we looked up the restaurants he recommended, they were all sinking in ratings on TripAdvisor, which made us wonder about his motives. Other than that, a perfect destination.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the city, but only the ones in the center have balconies. On the other hand, beca...

The bathroom alone was a big WOW, but the whole room and dressing area were fabulous. What also impressed me was how quiet the hotel was... everything from the elevators to the hallways and rooms were whisper quiet. We were on the 29th floor, overlooking the river, and we had a small balcony. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We didn't actually eat any other meals there as we were on a business trip with reservations elsewhere. The hotel staff was top notch and accomodating on every level. Enjoy!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the balcony and being right on the river.

For our visit to Bangkok I was looking for a 5 star stay for me and my spouse. After going through some sites I zeroed in on The Peninsula as most of the sites had positive reviews about the resort and also its reputation for being one of the best hotels in Asia.We booked from Antilog Vacations which deals in Thailand packages at wholesale rates – Result Peninsula booked in wht ws goin to be a gr8 tour

The agent had arranged for a limousine pick up from the airport for a few extra bucks. The experience was totally worth it and I would suggest you all for that same despite the slight weight on the pockets. The first look of the resort was exquisite as The Peninsula is located bordering the Chao Prya River and the sunlight formed a magical pattern across the river in the dusk.

The view of the rising sun and the setting sun across the river was fantastic too and as we later found out you should always ask for one of the top floor rooms as the view of the same from these rooms is unparalleled. Another option is the free upgrade, something which the receptionist always obliges in case it’s not the peak season. The room was easily 600 sq ft and my spouse especially liked the wooden wardrobes and the intricate interiors present inside the room. The balcony present in the room also perfectly sufficed for those evening tea breaks.

The hotel's another differentiating factor is its very own port which entails the guest to a complimentary boat ride across the city and also for add on onboard feasts like supper or lunch. The food inside the inland restaurant was delectable too. Despite the 5 star ratings and the eclectic spread on offer, the cost of the breakfast was quite nominal. The lobby area around the dining area was another superb hangout place to relax over tea and coffee. So all in all highly recommended.
