“Excellent experience. Except for check in.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2012 via mobile

We were arriving from Europe. Landed early in the morning. Check in was only possible at 16. Not convenient when you have kids and are tired. We have spent seven hours between the pool and an expensive restaurant for lunch. No clear explanation for the delay was given. Only apologises. Next time I will make sure I will call and ask for early check in.

All the rest is excellent.
Pool is clean and have very good facilities.
Rooms are large (we were on 39 floor). Air condition is bit too noisy. Great view on the river.
Breakfast is delicious, but it is served until 10.30. So you can not sleep till too late.
Boat to cross the river is convenient so you can skip some traffic jams.

There are so many reviews here, but I really feel obliged to help cement Peninsula in the #1 spot.

They upgraded our rooms, I think booking directly with them helped. We had a gorgeous view of the river, and a big bathtub that we used twice. You can watch TV while you take a bath!

Service was great. I loved the ferries that take you right across the river. Some hotels have boat shuttles that come every half an hour, and people queuing up. It looked rather unpleasant. Peninsula takes you where you want to go straight away. If you're only 1 person, it doesn't matter -- they order the boat and as soon as it can get there you are on. After taking these short trips across the river, I didn't feel a need to get on the big touristy boat for a river cruise.

The boat can take you to a couple of destinations -- to the Peninsula pier where cheap massages abound (there are like 5 massage places, at 300 thb per massage), or the bts skytrain/river tour boat. So really convenient drop-off points.

Our last day, we enjoyed tea in the lobby. It's a popular tradiition at the Hong Kong Peninsula -- not so much in Bangkok (you can just walk in rather than making resverations). The food was as wonderful as what you get in Hong Kong, but the price was half, and not so busy/hectic. Service was thoughtful -- I ordered the wrong tea, and was drinking all of my partner's tea, and the waitress thoughtfully brought me my own tea without charging me. It was very thoughtful to graciously correct an error on the guest's side, that's Peninsula service for you!

This property fully deserves its reputation. The property, while not new, is extremely well maintained, The rooms are lovely- I got one with a breathtaking view of the river and the city. The service is impeccable- from the small details like the fruits they leave you in the morning (together with a little book telling you what they are) to the maid service - everything is top notch. The hotel has a dock and a river boat, with which crossing the river is a breeze (literally), and this gives easy access to the municipal rail system. The gardens are beautifully kept. In short, you will not be disappointed with this hotel.

Room Tip: The executive rooms have a lovely view of the river. But all the rooms are good.

Beautiful hotel, great food, good location and what a view from our room! The pool is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen and the spa is one of the hotel's top atractions! Right in front of the hotel, on the other side of the River is The Oriental Hotel which is worth visiting at tea time or for a drink at the terrace overlooking the boats up and down the river. Peninsula Bangkok is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at! But what was really amazing is the staff - always trying to anticipate your wishes and always with a smile. Loved that hotel! I will definatelly come back one day!

Last June we visited Bali for two weeks and Bangkok for one week. Go out with a bang, we thought and booked the last three days in the Peninsula. We had heard and seen (television) so many great things about it and guess what...it turned out to be even better than what we hoped for; what a treat! If you can spend it, book a balcony-room. We were up on the 33rd floor, a gorgeous room, walk-in closet, a beautiful marble bathroom, compliments for the interior decorating. This goes for the whole building, everywhere you look are beautiful things, paintings, artwork, woodcarvings. Special compliment goes out to the pool-staff, these guys make your day! We decided to take it slow the last three days, so we were at the pool a lot. They serve a perfect lunch (ask for the Sharing-platter), every now and then they come over with home-made icecream, icewater, fruit. The location is perfect -most of all because of the view over the river and city. The Peninsula-boats take you across the river whenever you want and back. If you go for a workout at the gym, they are so very helpfull ! Not to mention the breakfast near the river; the staff spoils you. I could go on and on, our stay here really made our holiday so very special and unforgetable! This hotel is hard to top!

Room Tip: Add a preference when you book. We especially loved the Balcony-room. Add "preferably as high...

Does it get any beter than this? HArd to beat this hotel.
We got a suite upgrade on the 34th floor which means amazing views.
location is fantastic - with a free boat ride accross the river to go to the old town.
negatives - i could not find any - rooms impeccible, service great and always with a smile, in one word fantastic.
The pool area is fantastic - albeit it rather small but this is a city hotel.

We stayed 4days for a wedding anniversary ,on 39th floor.the view on the river was superb . Room was as described on the website ,beautiful and large, excellent bedding and bathroom.
Service was top notch, with extra attentions for our wedding anniversary.
The Thai restaurant on the river front is delicious , as is the cafe. Morning buffet is excellent . The Chinese restaurant is rated the best in Bangkok.Food is very sophisticated but the settings are a bit cold and formal for my taste.
The hotel provides a free shuttle to the other bank of the river ( very elegant boat indeed).
The swimming pool is very design, one of the best competitive points of this hotel vs the Oriental.
We loved every minute of our stay and would definitely go back on our next trip to Bangkok.

Room Tip: Room above 39th floor are premium room and the view is worth the extra money.
