In late July our family of 3 stayed for 2 nights at The Pininsula and we loved it,the room was comfortable, clean and stunning view accross the river. The staff were friendly and professional, happy to help in any way.The buffett breakfast each morning sitting by the river was great, everything you could want.Beautifull pool area with lovely cabanas to lie back and relax, and free boat shuttle accross the river to connect with the main city area.We made the most of the river taxi, its cheap and a great way to get around. We will definately return to the Peninsula one day worth every cent.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor with buffett breakfast.

First rate service all round matched by a good location and excellent food . The staff are very friendly and helpful , we found the level of English spoken and understood very high while the attention to detail in terms of service outstanding , puts many other luxury hotels to shame and we have stayed in more than a few !

I had an excellent experience at The Peninsula, which I would expect from a 5 star hotel, and it stands out as one of my top hotel experiences. I stayed here for business for six days in March 2012.

While the hotel entrance is hard to spot from the road (made for an interesting first attempt to find it on arrival with the taxi driver), check-in was flawless, friendly greeting on arrival, helpful concierge, easy check-in. However, it may depend on who you get at reception, as I was finished well before a couple of my colleagues who took quite a while. The service overall was helpful and friendly and I didn’t have any issues with any staff – they were all professional and helpful.

I was upgraded to a Deluxe corner room, which was very spacious. There was a comfortable lounge area, big desk, I loved that there was a separate dressing area including a mirrored dressing table with a hair dryer, and a massive bathroom with two separate sink areas, separate toilet, big shower, big bath with a tv and controls (tv was old and inserted in the wall - but who cares???), the usual amenities. The decor had a colonial/Thai type feel, and three was nothing in my room that I can pick at - it was like brand new, everything worked, nothing was chipped or worn. I also received daily fruit which was great. The aircon was brilliant, and a welcome relief from the humidity and heat outside. The room was extremely quiet, I didn’t hear anything from outside my room. A corner suite, which looked over the river as well as at a half built/half torn down (I couldn’t tell) building, which wasn’t the greatest.

The breakfast buffet was good – a big selection of different types of food, and I didn’t mind that some things were inside and some outside – it was just a little steamy with humidity outside while waiting. Once you explored to find what was where, it was fine. You just had to queue a little bit if you wanted something cooked to order – which is not unusual to any hotel. The service by the table waiters was a little random, but not too bad.

The buffet lunches for our function group (100+ people) were really great both days, they were different both days, and they catered well for my vegetarian colleagues.

Room service meals were really good, particularly if you went for the Asian options.

The outside Thai restaurant was very atmospheric at night, and importantly the food was really great, good wine selections, but beware that it is outside so if you’re hot from the day out exploring there is no relief, but a little breeze from the river if you’re lucky.

The pool area was really fantastic, and while the gym wasn’t huge it had a variety of equipment.

As traffic is very slow in Bangkok, the easiest way to get around was to get the free hotel ferry across the river and then catch the public transport ferry which is really cheap, or pay for a private long-tail boat (but barter for what you want to pay – they will try and charge you much much more than the ferry) to the area you want and then get a Tuk Tuk to take you to your destination.

The function spaces ranged from the large room and to quite a few break out rooms, spread around the hotel. All the AV ran perfectly, coffee/food/lunch breaks all were set up on time and ran to schedule and staff were accommodating when asking for help or guidance.

Overall, it was just pleasant being in the hotel, I felt safe, it was luxurious and easy to be there.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view and/or an upgrade - you never know your luck.

The hotel is located away from the road and has nice pool area . The lunch buffet is nice .

Pool area : Beware of noisy clients even in the quiet zone as the staff doesn't really dare to talk to the clients to tell them to go the other zone while they are disturbing clients . This was a major drawback !

The SPA over charges the massages which is a pity and push you to go outside to enjoy a nice massage .

Although the hotel is located far from the city center , it is quite convenient as you can catch the ferry to get to the Sly train station .

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the river

We have been staying at the Peninsula since it opened in 1900 (or thereabouts).
It is still immaculate, unchanged except for improvements, and has the best rooms in the world.
Maybe that's a big claim, but I stick by it. The rooms all have views across to the other river bank- Oriental and Shangri la (good but not as good!) which is better than looking the other way!
The little Peninsula boats to the other side are fabulous, regular and a great way to travel. Nothing like the short trip home by boat!!
Pool is sensational, good fitness centre.
The best breakfast buffet in the world too. Eating out by the river a terrific way to start the day.
Such a nice place it is hard to leave. Sorry about the sugary review, but each time I go there it is better than the last!!

Room Tip: They are all good I think. THe hotel has a 'single loaded' corridor, so they all face the ri...

From the minute we checked in to the minute we checked out, we loved the Peninsula Hotel. My friend and I booked here for five nights and can't be more pleased we chose this hotel. Right from check-in the accommodated us with a room on a high floor the head beautiful views over all the city. The rooms were spacious and very well appointed with fruit plates and very nice turn down service. The room is in great shape, though I did find it slightly dated.

Other highlights of the hotel, besides its wonderful staff is the fantastic breakfast (definitely recommend getting it as part of your package, though you won't need to eat again until dinner!), the pool, which is a serene getaway from the hustle and bustle of BKK and the convenient fairy shuttle to the mass transit (take the subway and water ferries over taxis if you can), the mall and the ferry stop.

We also ate dinner at one of the restaurants (thai restaurants on the terrace) and found it reasonably priced for a five start hotel and delicious and overall. The hotel is a gem and is prefect for all types of travelers to BKK.

Room Tip: High floor, so you have a better view of the city and corner rooms are a little more spacious.
