Very very nice hotel with amazing views from just about every room. The furnishings are clearly high end and the service is impeccable. Especially liked the river boat service to the skytrain station, very convenient. Breakfast buffet is delicious with a lot of variety (and good dim sum) and seating overlooking the river. Bathroom has two sinks and a very powerful shower, great to get the grime off after a day of sightseeing. Only downside is the location is a bit far, you are on the opposite side of the river, so everything takes at least two modes of transport (unless you take a taxi, which can be painful with traffic).

My partner and I stayed here in Oct 2013. We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing and had great views. The hotel is classy and serene -- it gives you a chance to recharge from the craziness of BKK and to get ready for the next adventure. The staff and service was first rate throughout the stay. Loved the river service it was another nice treat - both across the river and down to the Asiatique River front (also a must)

Would recommend and would stay again!

I have been to Bangkok quite afew times, always staying at Mandarin Oriental. This time I thought I would try Peninsula to see if it can compare to the one across the river.

This is a professional hotel with fantastic view over Bangkok. Nice decor, polite staff, but it lacks charm. It is a bit like a huge machine, but a good one.

+ Room with terrace is a must. My friend got an "upgrade" as they did not have an available terrace room as she had booked, but the room could not compensate the lack of terrace...

+ Pool is lovely!!! And the people workingbthere were the only staff we really felt showed some personal touch and some of the famous Thai service.

+ Spa also very good. Nice surroundings.

- hotel is too big!!
- Staff on Pier hopeless. We asked to be transferred to Oriental for dinne, which they denoed. When asking them to call to Oriental for aboat, it took 45 minutes... And they barely speak English.
- we booked tour to se Royal Palace which according to brochure would take 3-4 hrs. No sightseing in car to Palace. 1,5 hrs there and then of course the inevitable jewelery market that we asked not to stop at. Denied... The whole trip took 2,5 hrs, including the stop at the jewerly shop.. Not good enough!!!!!!!!

So, hotelmis ok, bit miles from the Oriental on the other side. So, if you can afford it, spend the extra money. I know I will next time....

Room Tip: Go for a room with terrace!!!!!

Great room and hotel. High up balcony room was good but not as good as peninsula Hong Kong. Would give it easily 5 stars except for two $15 waters we were charged for at informal restaurant--absolutely ridiculous when filtered water was available for free. Great thai restaurant on premises where we got glasses of filtered water for free. Location is not great but there is no better view in Bangkok. Amazing breakfast buffet. Loved the fitness facility. Great bed

Others have commented on $15 waters and management ignores

Room Tip: River view balcony cannot be beat

Partner and I stayed at the Peninsula Bangkok for four nights in October 2013. Upgraded to a suite upon arrival. The hotel building is understated in some ways - the lobby avoids bombast - but there is quality in the details everywhere you look. The decor is very much of its era (think timber panelling and marble galore; pure mid 90s hotel chic), but age doesn't detract from the immaculate overall presentation.

But what really stands out is the service; it's unfailing helpful and polite, without being cloying or intrusive. We had to change rooms after two nights after an annoying mystery exterior noise failed to resolve itself. Request was dealt with promptly, pro-actively and without the slightest pushback. New room was of the same (upgraded) standard.

Favourite things: we would return for the pool alone (it would have to be the best in Bangkok, surely); high standard breakfasts by the river; supremely comfortable bedding; convenient boat service for river crossings; and service overall to beat the best. Suggestions for improvement: ageing in-room control panels for sounds and lighting are complicated to use and do most to date the rooms; high tea in the lobby could be a real attraction with a little more attention to detail (weak tea, no offers of hot water top-ups). But don't let either of these minor reservations put you off, this hotel deserves every single one of its five stars.

Room Tip: All rooms have river views, so it is hard to go too far wrong.

This resort is unbelievable. This best service that I have ever received in my life. Our stay couldn't have been more perfect!! From the moment we stepped out of the taxi on arrival to the resort we were treated like VIP's. We will definitely be back.
