“Nice city view”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Peninsula is a very good hotel with a very good breakfast either continental near the river or thai in the restaurant, the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. The location is very good, there is also a ferry to cross the river. You also have a great view over Bangkok by night from the room.

The only downside was the entertainment provided by the TV as there was no VOD, movies to watch or anything like that. Also while we were greeted at the reception nobody came with us to show us the room or how to get to it, not very 5* star.

The pool has 3 parts where you can swim however there isn't a lot of sun in the afternoon, so if you want to get some sun you have to be there in the morning.

Overall we were very happy and satisfied with this hotel.

This is a great hotel with fabulous service, good value for money and amazing rooms. All rooms have a view of the river due to the design but we'd booked a balcony room which was hugely spacious, with a seating area, dressing room and enormous bathroom. The breakfasts are plentiful and the bar by the river lovely for relaxing with an evening drink. The boat service is fabulous for crossing the river, where you can catch a public boat down to sites such as Wat Arun or take the Peninsula boat up to the sky train. We didn't use any of the restaurants but had a fabulous spa treatment and enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful pool. We would certainly recommend using the Peninsula as your base when in Bangkok.

We stayed there during the public protests.
The hotel staff is really professional and helpful and always kept customer safety as the prime priority.
The recommendations for local restaurants and events are excellent.
Breakfast in the hotel is something that I really enjoy. The fresh juices, fruits, pastries are must try. Try them all. You will be surprised even the eggs tasted so much better. They are organic high quality eggs - I ordered a poached egg every day. Yummy.
The mint tea, the latte, the nice breeze and view from the river while we are indulging ourselves in the high quality breakfast. Unforgettable experience.
It is worth the $.

Normally I would give 4.5 stars for this hotel, but you cannot activate this. It is truly a luxury hotel in a superb location near the chao praya river. The hotel staff is very helpful, friendly and fluent in English. The deluxe suite is overviewing the Chao Praya river. What a view, just breathtaking. The breakfast has a huge variety of fresh food. Absolutely fantastic. Also the boats from the hotel bringing you across the river are hop on, hop off and with very regular river crossings. Unfortunately our room was not so clean. Dirty fingers on the shower door and also dirt on the cupboards. Otherwise I would give them the full five stars.

Room Tip: Take a deluxe suite overlooking the Chao Praya river : breathtaking views

This is a very nice hotel right on the river with water taxi service. The room was beautiful with a killer view of the river and city. The room was very comfortable with high tech everything. I especially loved being able to control the blinds from the bed. The bathroom had separate sinks, beautiful tub and shower. There was a separate walk-in area for unpacking, suitcases, etc. Ate at the restaurant twice and it was not great, but not too bad but expensive.

We spent a weekend at this hotel just before Christmas, it was a fantastic experience! When we checked it at around 2am they made sure our three rooms were all together on the same floor.

That staff here are extremely attentive and happy to help. Whilst we were there the Thai public held peaceful protests around the city and the staff made sure we new what was happening, when, where and how it would impact us as tourists.

The food, from the beginning of the day to the end of that day was brilliant, the breakfast buffet had a huge variety (including bread and butter pudding!) and the food throughout the rest of the day was top quality.

The hotel had been decorated for Christmas in a Western style, the decorations were quaint and tasteful - whilst we were there we had lunch at another hotel and the quality in decorations was a lot lower, which made The Peninsula stand out even more.

My only issues was with the automatic curtains and connecting light switches. During the night (only one night mind) the curtains kept opening by themselves and the limp on the desk kept turning on by itself. Eventually I just stopped trying to close/turn off and they sorted themselves out.

I will definitely be staying there again if i et the opportunity.

Its hard to find a hotel experience which is not overboard, but tailored at providing an elegant understated accommodation stay.
We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. A great position on the river with excellent views. We were in a suite, which was perfectly laid out and plenty of space.
Breakfasts were extensive with a wonderful choice of freshly cooked food and just about anything you want.
Staff very helpful until we came home and key didn't work. This could have been handled so much better. There were about 5 concierges just hanging, who told us they could do nothing about it, which was a joke and reception was too busy for us and very unhelpful. I would say that reception and concierge let down the rest of the team and they are a very important element. That was a shame and why I needed to rate the service as average.
