“Service Prize-Gold Star”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

The concierge, the mango sticky rice (the best in the region), the pool, the staff, the breakfast buffet-perfection. Spa services are wonderful and well priced.

Great river view.

The best value in town.

Room Tip: The higher the better to get good river views. If you can get a balcony room, do so.

Stunning hotel. You won't wanna leave. At the pool they give you some miniature ice cream cones which are really cute. Excellent service from staff. The water taxis are expensive but the river gives you easy access to the best parts of town.

I had a 3 night stay at the Peninsula Bangkok recently. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. The view overlooking the Chao Phrya river and the Bangkok skyline was outstanding both night and day.

Service in good and they have a free shoe shining service when you can just pop your shoes into a little service box , press a call button and the valet will remove it for polishing without you even knowing.

Breakfast in the River cafe was good. The items were of excellent quality and coffee was good. I ate at their Chinese restaurant and find the food to be of average standard only, although they tout that their Chef is from Hong Kong.

Afternoon tea at the lobby was good and civilised but still cannot compared to their sister hotel, The Peninsula in Hong Kong. I had a quick dinner at their lobby lounge and find it to be good and reasonably priced. On my last evening, I had buffet dinner at the River Cafe and they have a great array food, all excellent quality like grilled to order Tiger Prawns, Wagyu rump steak, scallops and salmon.

I used their fitness centre a couple of times during my stay and find it a tad too small. There are no windows but has the usual ellipticals, treadmills and bikes and weights.

All in all, a very enjoyable say at the Pen and will return.

Room Tip: High floor

This is really a great hotel, good selection of restaurants and the rooms are really nice and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful always there for you when you need them. The limo service made the trip to and from the airport easy and comfortably.

Classic hotels like this one live from their reputation and the special atmosphere they spread. While the service and staff friendliness are undeniably superb, the lack of atmosphere throughout the hotel was the let down.
I do realize that during such political turbulences occupancy drops to a minimum, but passing by the lobby at different times no music, no chatter, no phone calls could be heard- just plain silence.
The hotel itself is very well maintained as should be in this price category.
Breakfast was good, but nothing spectacular. While the ingredients were all of high quality the lack of variety was surprising for such a hotel. It was partly compensated through the incredible location directly at Chao Praya river.
I have not doubt that this hotel is one of the top 10 hotels in Bangkok, but they should watch out as this city has many other options.

Room Tip: If you already decide to stay at the Peninsula than take a river view room!

Dear Jean Pascal B,

Thank you for your constructive feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are proud of our unique location and extraordinary products but are fully aware that the service, facilities and offerings must be of the same quality in order to compete amongst the best hotels in the city. Comments such as yours are certainly taken to heart. We shall discuss your concerns on the Food & Beverage offerings with our culinary team.

As tourism in Thailand remains very weak, we can only hope that this will change in the near future so that the hotel can go back to the usual hustle and bustle that we are accustomed to.

Stunning views, in the perfect location! Buffet had so much to offer I was really surprised and delicious food. The room I stayed in was just right smart decor and comfortable again the views were just amazing!!! The pool, fantastic I spent many an hour just lounging in it, (had my honeymoon here) impressed my misses and I'm not the romantic type- this place did the talking..well worth the price paid!

Room Tip: Don't settle for less, chose the pricier rooms with a beautiful view it is so worth it!
