General overview 9/10
Great hotel. Unbeatable service.
Room 8/10
We had a room with a river view. It was fun to watch the different types of boats zip around. Perfectly sized bedroom with desk. Separate closet/dressing room. Bathroom with double vanity, shower and bath. Some of the fixtures look a little dated, but everything worked well. Very comfortable bed and high quality linens.
Service 9/10
Service overall was excellent. Very gracious.
Restaurants and bars within the hotel 7/10
The breakfast buffet was excellent. A huge range of Asian and Western foods. So much choice of well presented delights it was difficult to decide what to have.
We didn't eat at the Chinese restaurant in the hotel.
And unfortunately the bar was closed for essential maintenance work during our stay so we didn't get to try that either.
As the bar was closed we did eat in the lobby bar. I had scallops which were a very small serving, but delicious. My husband had pad Thai which was excellent. The service in the lobby bar was also great. We had a pre dinner drink with nibbles. Good cocktails, wasabi peanuts and fish crisps.
Other - spa, gym, pool, gardens, river boat, car to and from the airport. 9/10
Spa - I didn't use the spa, but all the spa staff were incredibly helpful.
Gym - The gym was not as large as I had expected (perhaps there were 5 treadmills), but there...General overview 9/10

Spa - I didn't use the spa, but all the spa staff were incredibly helpful.
Gym - The gym was not as large as I had expected (perhaps there were 5 treadmills), but there was everything you would need for a decent workout. There were a number cross trainers and other types of machines including weight machines. The equipment was all high quality and very clean. There were a lot of free weights. There was always a person or two to guide you around the gym, as well as provide you with water, towels and very welcome cold towels.
Pool - The outdoor pool was great. Large - as it was three tiers meaning there are almost three different areas where you can sit. There are some great cabanas where you can hide from the sun. The service here was impeccable. Someone even came round to polish our sunglasses...
Gardens - Flowers around the hotel, particularly the orchids, were stunning.
River boat - The river boat service was excellent. A boat was always there when we needed one. On the opposite side of the river to the hotel there is also a private "Peninsula hotel" dock.
Car to and from the airport - The car service is well worth the money. You are met by a Peninsula representative and escorted to a waiting car. Then you are delivered back with a representative assisting you right the security gates. An excellent 5 star addition to the hotel experience.
We will definitely stay at The Peninsula whenever we find ourselves in Bangkok!More
